“Kristen was excellent - took good care of our cats and asked us questions when necessary, sending us cat pics as well and always quick to reply. Highly recommended if you need a pet sitter!”
“Though it was Michelle second time of sitting Katie and Maya, she was able to pet Maya who usually does not show up and allow her own family members to pet her. Great Job! I would recommend and use her again.”

About: What truly sets me apart is my lifelong, hands-on experience as a devoted pet parent — especially with senior dogs and emotionally sensitive pets. I cared for my beloved senior dog Rocki for 14 years, supporting him through every stage of life, including the extra patience, gentleness, and attentiveness senior dogs need. Today, I share my life with my dog River and also help care for my partner’s 16-year-old senior dog, so I am very comfortable with senior care, slower mobility, routine-based needs, and gentle handling. I’m highly attentive to body language, emotional comfort, and stress signals, which helps me support anxious, sensitive, or aging dogs in a calm and reassuring way. My home provides a safe, structured, and loving environment where dogs can feel secure and relaxed. I’m also patient and consistent with younger dogs, helping reinforce routines, calm behavior, and positive habits through gentle guidance and structure. Every dog in my care is treated like family with safety, emotional awareness, patience, and genuine love. Pet care is a natural part of my daily life. I structure my days around consistent walks, feeding schedules, playtime, and calm rest periods for my own dog, River, as well as my partner’s senior dog. Because caring for animals is already part of my everyday routine, I’m able to provide dependable, attentive, and structured care for pets staying with me. I prioritize supervision, emotional comfort, and routine so every dog feels safe, relaxed, and cared for throughout the day. In my home, pets are treated like family in a calm, safe, and loving environment. I follow each dog’s normal routine closely, including feeding, potty breaks, walks, playtime, medication (if needed), and plenty of rest and comfort. I pay close attention to body language, emotional needs, and stress signals to ensure every dog feels secure and relaxed. My home includes a fenced backyard for safe outdoor time, cozy indoor rest areas, and close supervision throughout the day. In a client’s home, I respect their space and maintain their pet’s established routine to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I provide gentle, attentive care, ensure safety, and send regular updates with photos so pet parents always feel reassured while they’re away.
About: I am a med student student who loves animals. I have been dog-sitting since I was a freshman in high school. I started off caring for an elderly dog who had a difficult time walking. I have also worked with a dog who had a limp due to an injured leg and needed to be given medication on time. With each time I sit, I give a summary at the end so that you can also know what your furry friend has been up to. Along with all the dogs I have worked with I also own an adopted dog. My family and I adopted him in my sophomore year of high school. He has taught me to be very patient and aware of his needs. I enjoy baking peanut butter cookies to feed him and have baked them for other clients. I am a great sitter because I will care for your dog as if it is my own. I will attend to his or her every need along with baking him/her treats. Something I can provide that others may not be able to provide is long walks along the National Mall. I am a dancer and enjoy going for runs. If a dog is able to, I would love to go for a run with him or her. I am a good sitter because I provide care that exceeds one's expectations. I have school for 2 hours on most days. Therefore pet care fits into my schedule easily. I enjoy going on walks which provide the perfect exercise for dogs. I also like baking and I tend to bake treats for my pets. I don't have a fence, however, I am at my desk when I am working. So I will be able to provide constant company to your pet. I love to go on walks and will take the pet as often as they need. I do not have my own yard, however, I do have a small fenced-in area I can take the dog for play time.
“Samantha and Jerry were fantastic. Zara, our cat, was happy and well cared for when we came home. We got great pictures of her being brushed, eating, and drinking throughout their visits. Would 100% recommend.”

“Peggy was wonderful I will definitely be calling her again. She took great care of my dogs my dogs really loved her. Peggy really went above and beyond for my dogs. Great service and wonderful person.”

About: Hello! My name is Julissa. I have so much love for all pets and animals. Growing up, i’ve always had a dog in the house, and they were always such an important member of our family. It’s been about five years since I’ve had a dog of my own. My last dog’s name was Sasha. We adopted her when she was six and had her until she was about thirteen. She was so smart, loving, and anxious when we first got her so our first few years together were spent establishing trust. Eventually we managed to off-leash train and we worked a lot on her recall so that we could enjoy longer walks and outdoor activities while ensuring that she always felt safe in her environment. At home we set her bed up in the kitchen, where we would pass our time cooking and spending a lot of quality time together. I had so many good years with my Sasha, and since she passed I have genuinely missed spending time with animals on a consistent basis. Since then, most if not all of my friends and family have entrusted me with taking care of their animals when they are busy or traveling, so I’ve had a lot of experience with many different pets and their varying needs/personalities. I work freelance as an artist. I am a musician, so I often stay at home practicing or composing. However most of my work is in the film industry, and this work ranges from smaller independent projects to network television. Although I do work on set sometimes, I try to take on as many post-production gigs as possible, so I often find myself sitting behind a desk all day. I have always made it a priority to work in a field that I am passionate about, and my decision to work with Rover has been no different. Caring for animals is not only something I am passionate about, but also a wonderful opportunity to go on walks and spend quality time with pets. I will always be very clear about any changes in my work schedule if those are to arise, but my reliability and dedication never wavers I have a fenced in yard and plenty of spaces in the house for your pet to wander and feel comfortable. I am also very trust worthy, organized, communicative, and extremely eager to work with you!

About: I’m currently in my second year of veterinary school at TuftsVet. I’ve had extensive animal experience as a result, including 500+ hours in a veterinary clinic. I’ve also worked full-time for a year at a veterinary pharmacy, and part-time as a kennel assistant at a dog and cat daycare where I mostly boarded, walked, and socialized with the dogs. I love animals, and want to give them the best care because that’s what they deserve! I unfortunately am only available until August, but my schedule over the summer is very flexible. The only day I am strictly unavailable are Sundays, but otherwise from 11am-7pm I am free. Check-ins will include checking their food/water, general status, and of course, playtime! Any instructions that the owner leaves will be followed and photos of the pet will be sent to the owner during check-ins.
“Ella was so great with my cat, Ollie! He instantly loved her and they played and cuddled together. He is normally shy with new people, so I credit her for being patient and slow with him. Would definitely recommend her services!”

“Jason is absolutely amazing and continues to exceed my expectations every time! He’s taken care of Cali and Willie 3 or 4 times now, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else. Jason always keeps me informed with daily updates, so I never have to worry. He truly cares for my pets as if they were his own and goes above and beyond in every way. I’m so grateful for his kindness and dedication, and I’ll definitely be booking with him again in the future.”

About: I have experience with furry friends of all ages, and love dog walking especially. I am passionate about animals and want to help you take care of your family. I am currently on summer break from college and would love to spend some time side questing with your pups! I am available all afternoons and weekends. I will provide a nurturing space for your pups in my neighborhood if needed, but I am also available to travel to you and help within your area!
About: Greetings, After graduating from college 30 years ago, I decided to become a professional dog walker/animal care specialist. I am currently walking multiple dogs all over the Long island area. My intense love for all dogs is inexplicable. I prefer being in the presence of dogs over humanity. If there is such thing as reincarnation I am coming back as a dog. Funny. Rest assure that the love of your life will be in good hands , to say the least. I am flexible and highly experienced. Additionally, passionate about dog rescue. If I had the means I would open up a giant sanctuary to rescue every stray or abandoned dog. Obviously that is a dream, and realistically I cannot make that happen. However, I can be the perfect companion for your precious dog. Thank you for stopping in and viewing my profile.
“Elizabeth is so great with my dog Charlie. Charlie is anxious and very slow to warm to new people. She’s been so patient and sweet with him. And Elizabeth is always so great with communication and sending such cute pictures! Always reliable and punctual. Can’t recommend her enough!”

About: I’ve been dog and cat sitting for my friends for the past 3 years. I’m looking to expand my horizons and make new furry friends along the way :) My schedule varies a bit because I’m currently in med school, but on any of my days off, I’d love to spend time with some fur buddies! I’m a huge lover of animals. I’ll follow all the directions you have set for your pet’s care, and go the extra mile to keep them feeling happy.
About: I’ve taken care of all my family pets as well as my friends pets too. I don’t mind bathing or walking them, feeding as well of course. I do work a full time job, but I get out early so I have time of course and why not walk some cute pups. I do have pets at home, 2 cats who are free to roam, but I do have 2 pet Carriers and a gate if needed.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Glen Oaks
I highly recommend Hannah’s services. She took excellent care of both of my cats, making sure they were fed and well looked after during my absence. Communication was outstanding throughout the entire process. She was reliable, professional, responsive, and provided peace of mind knowing my pets were in good hands. It is clear that she genuinely cares about animals and takes her responsibilities seriously. I would not hesitate to hire her again and would confidently recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and dependable pet sitter.
Karlos did an incredible job taking care of my two cat brothers while I was away for the week. He made sure they were wellfed, spent time playing with them, and sent frequent photos and updates, which I especially appreciated while I was on the other side of the country. He truly went above and beyond. Not only did he care for the cats, but he also helped fix their water fountain after one of them managed to knock it over and set up the pet cameras again after they were attacked by curious paws. Beyond that, it's clear that Karlos has a tremendous amount of experience with animals. We talked about his love for cats and dogs, his work caring for reptiles, and how much animals mean to him. For me, the most important quality in a pet sitter is someone who genuinely loves and understands animals, and Karlos absolutely embodies that. I would gladly recommend Karlos to anyone looking for a trustworthy and knowledgeable pet sitter, and I will definitely reach out to him again in the future if I need help with my cats. Thank you, Karlos!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
