“Margo was fantastic at taking care of my two senior dogs, 7 lb morkie and 7 lb chihuahua. She arrived on time, found my garage door was open, closed it, sent me photos and walked them, fed them and spent quality time with them. Very responsible and a joy to have. Note, my morkie is feisty on walks and barks at everyone. We did a test walk and she handled him beautifully. Thank you Margo!”

About: I started my love for dogs when I rescued and fostered a Boston Terrier in college. I have raised and trained dogs from the age of 5 weeks (bottle feeding) to full grown adults. I always look out for the best interest for the dog, so playing enough outside to allow them to lose some energy and have a good time, bathing, dog parks, nap time, snack time, potty, treats, toys, all of the above to keep a happy pup. Gaining some extra cash on the side is never bad thing when its for bettering the doggo’s life. Animals know when they have a good friend or foe. I will be their new best friend that adores them with love, that they can't wait to hang out with me! I have a fully remote schedule, so your pet will never be left alone! I work around their schedule to make sure they are getting all the attention they need. I have a 3 year old Labradoodle, she is the friendliest dog who loves to make friends. I’m available to board over night or come to your house to walk and feed the pups, whatever necessary.

About: I'm home 22 out of 24 hours in the day. I've had at least 4 pets at all times for as long as I can remember. From dogs, to cats, bantam chickens, lop-eared and Angora bunnies, hamsters, African frogs, turtles, to my sweet potbelly pig, Carnita ("Nita"). Life feels fullest when animals are part of my daily routine. Recently, my Nita unexpectedly passed away (10/26/23). She was like a child to me. Although she left behind 1 dog and 2 cats, the house feels much emptier. Buddy, the dog, says he'd love some company to pick up the mood & keep his heart young. 😌 *In effort to maintain a balanced environment, I require a two (2) night minimum for boarding (2 day min. for daycare)* I work from home; I have plenty of time in-between Zoom calls to love on and attend to your little darlings. Permitting I have a few days notice, I will gladly care for yours during the week & on weekends too. I live in a small gated community in Vero Beach. My yard is not fenced; however, I can/do leash them up as often as needed for potty breaks and longer walks 1-2x daily (anywhere from 1.5-4 miles each go). I run too. My own dog is a little beyond his running days, so I use a jogger. Depending on your pup's activity level, they could run alongside me, or possibly hitch a ride in the stroller! In Your Home (house sitting or drop ins): I am happy to abide by your current schedule, making the transition of your trip easy on your fur babies. I am also resourceful, and will find the best outdoor fun for them, in the case that they need some fun distractions to tire them out!

About: I have taken care of all sorts of animals my entire life. Dogs, cats, Rabbits, sugar gliders. Young, old, special needs. I do it all. I believe pets are like children, they love to learn. I am recently retired so I can devote as much time as needed for your furry ( not so furry) babies. A lot of love to give. I prefer to sit in the clients home as I feel the pet will be less nervous or anxious in familiar surroundings. I like the pet to get to know me in their own time. Trust is earned.

“Allison is an absolutely amazing doggie sitter! I just moved to the area recently and had to find someone last minute to watch my girls for the weekend while I was out of town. Allison came through! I really appreciate her coming by the day before to meet the girls and to take note of everything. I asked for her to check on the girls a few times a day, but otherwise at night they would be fine alone, because once they go to sleep for the night, they are passed out until morning. She text me every morning when she arrived and let me know how the girls were. She stayed quite a few hours each visit giving the girls plenty of love and attention, even though they even sleep a lot during the day lol. She sent me plenty of photos while I was away so I could see the girls having fun. Once she was done for the evening she would message me again letting me know the girls were good and she had locked up for the night. Her watching my girls made me feel at ease while I was away. I definitely think my girls had a blast and really enjoyed their time with Allison, so much so, the last photo she took of them when she said her goodbyes, I could see them pouting seeing that she was leaving. That’s how I know they really liked her, since they were sad to see her go. I think I have found my forever go to dog sitter. I would highly recommend using her if you need a kind, loving, and attentive person to take care of your fur babies while you’re away! 10 out of 10 would recommend and will definitely be rebooking for my next trips! Thank you again Allison for being so amazing with the girls!”

About: Though I do not have a yard, I do understand the importance of daily activity (especially for dogs) and in regards to that, I live in close proximity to two dog parks. Growing up around different animals, I’ve grown fond, familiar, and comfortable with caring for different species (from rodents to felines and canines and pretty much anything in between). I am looking to make extra money and gain experience with different breeds of animals, as I am planning to embark on a journey into veterinary school. I love all animals and believe wholly in treating and caring for them correctly. I’ve had cats, dogs, rodents (gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs) , ferrets, birds, reptiles (leopard geckos and turtles), and rabbits just to name a few. I’m always willing to go the extra mile for an animal (whether it’s my pet or not) and I get along with practically any animal and fully believe in building a strong bond with pets.

We will certainly use Megan again in the future and would recommend her to anyone looking for a dog sitter.”

About: Greetings! My name is Monica and I look forward to learning all about you and your pets! First, a little about myself and the care I am qualified to provide. I have always had a unique desire and ability to take in and care for animals, but when I began working in rescue and brought my first heart-dog into my life, it grew into a true passion. He was a joy and one of the best companions I’ve ever had. We currently share our home with 2 dogs and a foster pup, and I bring an experienced and loving approach to every pet in my care. I have over 30 years of providing care and support for animals, mostly cats and dogs, but also pocket pets, exotics, pigs and birds, including chickens. I have been a foster volunteer, coordinator and board member for a national breed rescue for the last 20 years. In that time, I’ve worked with dogs of all breeds and temperaments from energetic pups to seniors fostering dozens of rescued dogs and cats, including pregnant moms, whelping litters of puppies and raising orphan bottle-baby kittens. I have extensive experience with special-needs and senior pets, including monitoring and treatment of acute and long-term medical conditions, recovery from injuries and surgical procedures, physical therapy, paralysis, specific dietary needs and preparation of homemade pet foods. I am qualified to administer medications, injections and sub-q fluids and assist animals during rehabilitation. I’ve also worked as a dog trainer focusing on behavior modification and basic obedience training and greatly enjoy helping dogs learn and develop at their own pace. I maintain a close relationship with several of our local veterinarians and trainers with a network of professional resources. I look forward to sharing time with your pets! I have a flexible schedule and strive to accommodate the individual needs of each pet and family, including visits for walks and playtime and overnight sitting in your home. I have the ability to work with a variety of care needs, and prioritize the safety, well-being and happiness of beloved animals and their humans above all else. I also carry pet care insurance for clients’ trust and assurance partnering together with their beloved fur-families, and have completed the American Red Cross Cat & Dog First Aid Course. About: I've been animal sitting since I was very young, have never had a home without a pet, have raised, trained, sat, and taken care of dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds. I have been relied on for years by friends, family, neighbors, local community members, colleagues, and even friends of friends to care for and watch over their fur babies. I have even been flown out of state to watch over pets of a employer because of how much trust they had in me. I sent frequent photos and updates so you never have to worry about how your pet is doing! I currently work as a Door Dash delivery driver so I choose my hours and will not take any orders if I have a pet in my care, I can stay home and put all my focus on taking care of your pet 24/7! I have a large bathroom and crate if you prefer your dog in a more controlled environment, I have a large side yard and plenty of nearby dog parks and a very safe sidewalk for longer walks and running and playing.

About: I worked as a dog groomer at Petco, so I’ve handled everything from energetic pups to shy or nervous dogs. I’m comfortable with walks, feeding, playtime, and giving them lots of attention so they feel safe and happy while you’re away. With my part-time schedule, I’ve got lots of time for walks, playtime, and care. I’m available most weekdays outside of 2–5 PM and have open availability on weekends. When I’m in your home, I treat it and your pets with a lot of respect. I stick to your dog’s normal routine as much as possible—whether that’s walks, playtime, feeding, or potty breaks. I always keep a close eye on their behavior and make sure they’re safe, comfortable, and getting plenty of attention. If I’m staying overnight, I make sure they feel relaxed and not alone, just like you never left.

About: Hi! My name is Hailey, and I absolutely love caring for animals. I’m a third-year Biology student at UCF with a passion for animal care and conservation, and I’m excited to bring that passion to Rover! I have hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats through my own pets, volunteer work, and everyday animal handling. At home, I have my energetic French bulldog, Lola, and my wonderful cat, Popper. I also volunteer at a local animal shelter, where I help with cage cleanings, animal socialization, and dog walking. These experiences have taught me how important patience, attentiveness, and understanding each animal’s individual personality are. I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of different ages, sizes, and personalities. Whether your pet needs an energetic walk, some extra playtime, a calm companion, or simply someone to keep them company while you’re away, I’ll make sure they receive plenty of attention and care. Outside of Rover, I’m pursuing my Biology degree with an interest in continuing my education in veterinary sciences. Working with animals is something I genuinely enjoy, and I would love the opportunity to care for your pets as if they were my own. I’ll always do my best to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away! I'm currently a full-time student and working part-time, so most days I'm not available. However, I am free every Saturday and Wednesday, so I'd be happy to stop in and care for your pets at any time on those days! I’ll follow your pet’s routine, provide plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship, and keep you updated with photos so you know they’re happy and safe.

FAQs for House Sitting - Gifford

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gifford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gifford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gifford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
