“Bunny was very communicative and kept me in the loop! You can tell the pups and cat enjoyed their time with her. Appreciate her level of care for my fur babies - will book again!”

About: Im good with pets, both cats and dogs. Im available to walk dogs in the morning and sometimes evenings. I have extra baggies and a water bottle for dogs but you must provide the leash and have it in a spot accessible to me if you are not home. Im also available to pet sit or drop in to feed and give potty breaks! I look forward to meeting your pets! If you request me I’ll get back immediately to let you know whether I’m available and to arrange a meet and greet. I kindly expect the same, if you find another sitter a quick reply is greatly appreciated! 💗 I work anywhere from 25-50 hrs a week depending on the time of year. My schedule is flexible. However I am always available mornings. With advance notice I can be available as needed and rework my schedule. I will follow instructions precisely while caring for your pet. I have cats and always make sure they have clean food/water bowls, clean litter box and are fed appropriately. I’d love to have a dog but I’m a renter.
About: I've been caring for pets since middle school, starting with family friends and neighbors who trusted me to walk, play, and love their furry companions like my own. Over the years, I've had the joy of raising a Siberian Husky and a bunny, giving me hands-on experience with different needs and personalities. Whether it’s a playful pup, a sassy cat, or a gentle senior, I tailor my care to make each pet feel safe, happy, and loved. I’m especially comfortable with big dogs (bring on the huskies!) and have a soft spot for cats too. What sets me apart? It’s not just experience—it’s genuine love, patience, and energy. I treat every animal like my own. I’m currently working part time and have a lot of free time during the summer. I am just a text/call away and will be on my way over in minutes. Their comfort and safety always come first. I create a calm, pet-friendly environment where animals feel at ease—whether that means sticking to their usual routine, providing plenty of playtime, or just offering a quiet space for cuddles and rest. I take time to get to know each pet’s needs, from feeding schedules to favorite toys. In your home, I respect your space and follow any specific instructions to a T. I keep things clean, secure, and consistent to avoid stress, especially for pets who thrive on routine. I’m always alert, never distracted, and I treat each pet like they’re my own—because building trust with both you and your pet is the most important part of what I do.
“Melissa has been so good to myself & my new little puppy, Bear! She is very flexible and communicates well- not only with updates (pictures & messages), but she is also able to provide input with any questions I may have. She is always attentive to Bear’s needs, and goes out of her way to spend the extra time with him that a puppy needs. She has made this experience easy and comfortable, so I have no worries leaving my puppy in her care. I would recommend Melissa over and over again!”

About: I have had hands on experience working as an animal assistant. I worked along side the veterinarian and other staff. I have also grown up with a pet (dog) in my family so I understand how important it is to make sure they are well taken care of with food, water or walks and play time. I am very dedicated and enjoy spending time and taking care of pets. I have a very flexible schedule and can often accommodate bookings with short notice. I’m available throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, and pet care visits, with flexibility for mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. I understand plans can change and always do my best to work with pet parents’ schedules and their pets’ needs. Safety, trust, and comfort are my top priorities when caring for pets. While I provide care in clients’ homes, I make sure pets stay in a familiar and secure environment where they feel comfortable. I follow owners’ instructions carefully regarding feeding schedules, medications, routines, walks, and any special care needs. I believe communication is important and want pet parents to feel confident knowing their pets are receiving loving and attentive care.
“Jeanice was great and came in clutch with our last minute request. Despite one of our dogs being nervous, she was able to coax her into going outside for a bathroom break!”

“This is the first time I left my dog to go on vacation & I was very nervous about it at first. Maria put me at ease & getting her feedback frequently with pictures helped a lot. I highly recommend her & will use her again.”

About: I am a former manager of a Doggy Daycare in the greater DC Metropolitan area, Pet and Home Care. This daycare was an outdoor yard which contained up to 40 dogs at a time, of all breeds, sizes, and different behaviors. As an involved worker, I gained extensive experience, and learned how to enforce training, administer medications, work with aggressive/difficult breeds, and handle all animal care needs with ease. Through this company, I also did overnight pet visits in the clients home, in-home walks, visits, & feedings, and special requests. I've cared for dogs, cats, exotic animals, farm animals, and more. I am a former nanny, and former cat-owner myself, and have devoted my entire life to caring for animals and people. I consider myself a fun-loving, empathetic, energetic human who is ready to take on any challenges. Thanks for giving this a read, let me know if you have any other questions for me! I am a seasonal gig worker, so when I am home, I stay home! I will not leave your pet alone for more than 4 hours at a time (at most), and pride myself on being active and fun. I love to go on walks, have plenty of space in my yard to run around (on a leash of course), and live near dog parks if you're comfortable with that. You let me know what your dog needs schedule wise, and I will work with it! I have an large non-fenced, open yard. I don't have a lot of neighbors near the property, nor other animals, and I've always walked dogs (and sometimes cats!) on a leash around my property for a short time. Across the street is a proper neighborhood with sidewalks and suburbs where I will take dogs on any walk longer than 15 minutes. I have a one bedroom house, ground level, with no other pets, roommates, or unexpected visitors. I am a big cuddler, and want the pets to feel calm and at home when they are with me.
“Judy is the best! I had hip surgery & needed someone to walk my dog Roxy. On very short notice, I sent a request to Judy on Rover & she quickly responded that she could help me out. She came the next day & when Roxy & I met her, you could just tell how much Judy truly loves dogs! She got down on the ground & Roxy was all over her with kisses. I always said that dogs know what people are genuine dog lovers & who are not. Roxy knew right away that Judy was the walker for her. I totally agree! Judy’s been walking Roxy for over 2 weeks now…she is always on time & is constantly in contact with me. I highly recommend her!”

“Kathleen has been a lifesaver, stepped in at the very last minute after I began fostering a dog and needed coverage for a long work day 2x a week. Raider obviously adores her and she is prompt, thorough and very loving with Raider. I also scheduled an extra visit when I had an unexpected meeting and she was able and willing! She has had to roll with some issues as he is a new foster, out of shelter for 6 months and we are just getting a routine down. Thank you Kathleen!”

About: I have experience from my own pets throughout the years and being a vet tech for 7+ years. I have experience with cats and dogs. I can take care of them young or old. Just let me know your routines and i will try to fill the void while you are gone. I work at an animal hospital during the day so I can stop in before work, on my lunch break and after work, whichever you prefer. About: I really enjoy being outdoors and walking my dogs regularly, since I was able to take a few steps I've enjoyed walking dogs. I have always felt I have a good connection with animals in general (except spiders). I understand you must be patient when taking dogs for a walk as some dogs may be older and have different needs. I've had dogs as small as chihuahuas to yellow labs. I volunteer at animal services and Born Free animal shelter when I can. I really care about the well being of dogs and their happiness. I can bring treats on our walk or any toy they enjoy. I am very athletic so I have no problem running with the dog(s) either. I understand the importance of being able to trust that your animals are in safe hands♥️ I teach at a local elementary school so afternoons work best for me! I’m available any time of day on the weekends. My husband is home during the day and is able to help out as well if your baby is at our house The safety of your pet and of mine are my number one priority. If I’m taking care of your baby at my house, The animals will not ever be left alone, especially if it’s a new introduction. And if I’m coming to you, any and all detailed directions are very much appreciated.

About: I grew up with 3 dogs and 3 cats in my childhood home. I have one old boy left from then, and I still help out in his senior years. I have groomed those three at home, and since moving into my own house, I dog sit small-large sized dogs, both in my own home and in clients homes. I regularly brush the dog’s teeth, trim nails, bathe, and brush their overcoat. I also take care of the grooming for my own two cats. I’ve grown up around all different types of animals, so I’m ready for any specific needs your pets have. I’m currently unemployed and dog sitting to make money, so I am free at all times of the day and night to care for your pets. I do not have a fenced in yard, but that’s no problem because I do not mind a little outside time to take them outside on the leash. I have a park down the street that I walk the dogs to so they can sniff around and stretch their legs. I can also do any extra food care, brushing, bathing, medication, or any needs you have from me. I can fit a crate if needed, but I don’t require any kind of crate.
About: I was a vet tech for 15 years. I’ll treat your pet with loving kindness and respect. I know how to keep your pet comfortable and safe. I am a proud pug mom and she is like my child. Whether it’s a walk during the day, medication administered, a one mile run with your puppy, hanging with them while you go on vacation…I’m here for you and your pet! My schedule is currently open to take care of your fur babies. Please contact me for availability, as things may be filling up as time goes on. I will care for your pets in your home! I am familiar with crate and potty training. I have 15 years experience in the veterinary tech field so I am knowledgeable. I am familiar with caring for dogs and cats.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
