Laina was an excellent caretaker for Cooper. Cooper has lots of anxiety and needs lots of patience which Laina was able to provide. She had great communication the whole time and made me feel comfortable Cooper was cared for. As difficult as Cooper can be to handle she was able to do it. I would happily recommend Laina to anyone who wants their dog cared for properly for their specific needs. She even got Cooper to feel comfortable enough to lick her hand which is not like him with new people. Great communication, great care, ten out of ten experience, by far the best I could’ve hired. Thank you so much Laina!

About: ***Due to our baby’s age right now, I (Morgan)will be house/dog sitting only at client’s homes until our he’s a bit older. The crew will stay at home 😂 Thanks for understanding!!*** Hey there, friends! We’re a family of 6, 4 humans (myself, my partner, our 7 year old son, and out 5 month old baby), 1 foster fail pup named Law, and 1 angel of an elderly rescue dog named Oni. My partner and I both have grown up with dogs and cats and have socialized both our dogs and our sons with animals as much as possible. In fact, our kids can’t get enough of animals and get super excited anytime they see one - it’s pretty stinkin’ cute. I have experience with fostering, boarding pets, and house sitting, as well volunteering for Austin Pets Alive for a few years. We’re pretty flexible and open to any special needs your pet has because we understand our pets are our family, so please feel free to let us know what’s needed and we’d be happy to accommodate. We’re super excited to meet you and your fur baby! I work from home 5 days a week and rarely do anything on the weekends (we’re homebodies!), so I’m here all day to play with your pet and take them out regularly! We have a big yard that has a short fence around the majority of the back yard, but they will have plenty of free space outside to play. If you worry your pup may run away off leash in the yard, we have additional short fencing that can easily be put up to keep them safe. Our dog is a little loud because she’s hard of hearing and will act a little tough at first with a tiny growl (hey! She’s been my baby since I bottle fed her at 5 weeks, she’s gotta protect me her fam) and she will bark for awhile but she gets used to every pet she’s been around in a matter of minutes. Never had any fights or incidents with her! We just ask that if your animal has any aggressive tendencies, to please consider other options or contact me for a meet and greet to see if we make a good fit. I’m here to play with your pet during the day and take them out/feed them/give them treats as much as needed. I do ask that you be as honest as possible about your pet’s potty-training issues (if any) and temperament/energy levels - we want them to be comfortable with us but we also have to look out for our kiddo. I can assure you though, your furbaby will be in the best of hands and may even end up coming home with a few new tricks to show off!! XO - M & B

Chloe did an exceptional job watching our Dane. He was dealing with an injury and needed extra attention, a cone and medication and Chloe met all of his needs. This was our first time using Rover and being able to travel with peace of mind that our boy was at home made our trip so much more enjoyable. We came home to a very happy boy and a clean house. We will for sure be using Chloe on future trips and recommend her to any of our friends that have pets.

Michael is absolutely fantastic. This was the second time he stayed with my pups. It was a unique situation involving a hospital stay and unknown discharge date. He was flexible and worked with me to ensure my pups were well taken care and never left alone.

With this being our first time using Rover, it was a pleasure to have Charlotte watch over Roy while we were out of town. She sent several photos throughout the weekend and I could tell he had a great time when we came home. We’ve had some friends who were nervous to watch Roy since he’s a big Belgian malinois, but Charlotte was wonderful with him. We will definitely be reaching out to have Charlotte watch him in the future!

Morisa is a wonderful pet/house sitter. She is communicative throughout the process from meet & greet to her stay. She asked questions about feeding & individual cat personalities, which I appreciated. I loved the pics she sent & felt relieved knowing she was hanging out with the four felines. She is chill & attentive - perfect combo!

Susan was amazing! This was the first time leaving our dogs with someone so we were of course nervous but she was great with them. She sent daily updates and pictures and communicated well with us. She kept the house clean and even did some things that weren’t expected from her like washing the sheets on the bed! The dogs were both happy and well taken care of when we returned. I would definitely recommend Susan!

About: I CAN SIT IN YOUR HOME OR DO CHECK IN'S AND WALKS. I have taken care of pets since I was a child. I have loved animals of all kinds my whole life. Dogs, cats, ferrets, lizards, fish, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters. I have had the great pleasure of caring for all of the above and loved every minute of it. But my greatest love is for my fur babies. I have loved many dogs and cats over the years, mine and others. I have 3 fur babies now, Tucker who is a long haired black lab mix that's 10 years old, Alexandra who is a basset hound/pit bull mix thats 5 years old and Poppy, my emotional support baby and my heart who is Chihuahua/dachshund mix. She is 10 lbs of pure love and she is 3 years old. She loves both dogs and cats. I would love to give your pets the same loving attention that I give to mine. I don't have a lot of pictures with the animals and myself as I'm always behind the camera. Thank you for your consideration. Looking forward to loving your babies. I have a pretty open schedule. I am retired and have a lot of free time. I am willing to provide care for day time hours, night time hours and weekends. I provide specialized care in the comfort of your pet's own environment. This reduces stress for your furry friend and keeps their routine exactly as they like it. I offer overnight stays, daytime checkins and walks.

FAQs for House Sitting - Gerton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Gerton on Rover is $29.96 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 781 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gerton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gerton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gerton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gerton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gerton. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
