“Ana did an absolutely amazing job! I will use her in the future and I would recommend her to anyone. She gave incredible updates and she totally blew me away with her communication and dedication to my animals.”

“Madeline was a great cat and dog sitter. We had never left our dog Henry with someone he did not know, and he is a rescue with baggage about being deserted. We are grateful to her for working through the problems he has and dealing with my stress about leaving him. She did a great job warming up to him and won him over! She stayed the course and after a few days, he was completely comfortable with her. Our cat needs medicating daily and she handled this beautifully! Our house was clean when we arrived home and well taken care of. We definitely want to have Madeline as our sitter again.”

“Heather was a great sitter for our home and dog. She took the time to meet us ahead of time, learn about our pup’s quirks, and was respectful of our home while we were away. She was communicative and sent us the perfect amount of updates to give us peace of mind. We will definitely keep her in mind for future bookings. Thanks again, Heather!”

“Thyra did an amazing job house sitting with our two doggos over the Thanksgiving holiday. She kept us updated throughout the day with photos and we came home to two very happy dogs. 100% recommend Thyra!”

“Michael is absolutely fantastic. This was the second time he stayed with my pups. It was a unique situation involving a hospital stay and unknown discharge date. He was flexible and worked with me to ensure my pups were well taken care and never left alone.”

“Alex was very thorough and very kind and went the extra mile for our dog Bandit. Always above and beyond what needed to be done. Bandit loved having Alex stay with him while we were on our trip.”

“Laina was an excellent caretaker for Cooper. Cooper has lots of anxiety and needs lots of patience which Laina was able to provide. She had great communication the whole time and made me feel comfortable Cooper was cared for. As difficult as Cooper can be to handle she was able to do it. I would happily recommend Laina to anyone who wants their dog cared for properly for their specific needs. She even got Cooper to feel comfortable enough to lick her hand which is not like him with new people. Great communication, great care, ten out of ten experience, by far the best I could’ve hired. Thank you so much Laina!”

“Constance is a great pet sitter! I really appreciated her sending daily videos, photos, and updates on how our cat and new German Shepherds were doing. It made vacation so much more enjoyable not worrying about the pets. Constance also cleaned and left our house spotless. I will definitely be booking with her again in the future.”

“Casey was a great sitter! She was very communicative, and most importantly, our dogs seemed super relaxed when we came home. It was clear she had spent a lot of time with them and made them feel cared for and loved. We will definitely use her again!”

“Juliann was fantastic with our pets and our home! She took excellent care of all four pets and was great about sending pictures and updates. And the pets LOVED her! We will definitely be calling on her again!”

“Ava has been very caring and patient with our anxious pup, Eola. She took pictures during house sitting that allowed my partner and I to enjoy our vacation without worrying. Ava has great communication and left the house clean and tidy. She even stripped the mattress before leaving. Thank you!”

“We loved having Lysney watch our dog and house! Our dog was happy, well cared for, and the house looked great when we got home. Super friendly, reliable, and easy to communicate with — we’d absolutely use her again!”

“Heather was very, very good. Took great care of all three of our pets, communicated very clearly on how they were doing, and provided lots of wonderful pictures. Great to have her tending our house and pets.”

“Mandolyn was great with our pup! She engaged him mentally and physically and was a trooper keeping him occupied during several days of rain. She listened, followed instructions and takes her job seriously. Will definitely use her again.”

“Luna can be a bit funny with new people, being pretty anxious and not wanting to be petted. Hannah was patient with Luna, adjusting as needed to try to keep Luna as comfortable and less stressed as possible. Eventually, Luna calmed down and was sleeping in the bed with Hannah and allowing pets, which means she was finally comfortable with Hannah. The daily updates with pictures gave me peace of mind while I was away from my pup, too! I will for sure use Hannah again for future dogsitting needs!”

“Laura is an amazing pet and house sitter! My pup can have some behaviors nand trouble meeting new people, but he immediately loved Laura and felt comfortable with her. My kitties too are very skiddish, but from photos they seemed to be comfortable with Laura’s presence. Not to mention, I came home to a clean house which enabled me to relax after a busy weekend away. Thank you so much and the fur babies cannot wait to see you again!”

About: I’m an animal lover who’s taken care of pets for over 20 years! Our family has two sweet dogs and two cats. I’m a freelance filmmaker and also teach, but have free time on my hands that I’d love to fill with fresh air, exercise and playtime with your pets! I have full availability currently and am accepting both one-time and regular clients. Looking for new clients, and would love to be a part of your pet care team! I’m safety oriented and always want to ensure your pets feels safe and loved. I always double check that doors and gates are secured before I leave, and dogs are always leashed on walks, etc. I’m tall and strong and can handle even the most rambunctious, oversized breed.
“Morisa was amazing and Shadow loves her. She took him on lots of walks and took the best care of our boy. She also gave lots of picture updates which we always appreciate!”

About: Growing up I always had pets; dogs, cats, hamsters, bunnies, fish and have always been an animal lover. Two kids later, potty training another living thing is not a priority but I cant resist tail wags and couch snuggles whenever I’m around animals. I am very active and would love to be the person to help get the zoomies out of your doggo or check in on other furry friends. I have had dogs of my own and have experience with crate training and will help to encourage existing basic training behaviors. I work remotely full time and am typically an early riser. I have two kids that keep me busy but my schedule is very flexible. I am happy to come over to check in on your fur babies, take them on walks or sit with them for a few hours while I get my work done.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gerton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gerton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gerton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gerton. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
