So happy we found Nicole. I don’t leave my dog often because he’s old and sick so I get really stressed, but she made me feel so much better about leaving. Daily pics & texts of her with Cosmo! I came back to him excited and energized. Highly recommend :)

Isabella was great as a house sitter to watch our dog, Phoebe! We had her watch out senior dog for the weekend and she was very attentive and communicative. Our dog doesn't always like new people but she hit it off with Isabella instantly. We would definitely work with her again!

About: As a lifelong dog owner, caring for dogs comes naturally to me. I also gained experience watching and caring for dogs while hosting my own Airbnb. What sets me apart is the patience, compassion, and attention I give every pet. I understand that leaving your dog with someone else requires trust, and I work hard to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. I'm a lifelong dog owner and an early riser who can provide care starting as early as 5:00 AM. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I'm comfortable accommodating feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I make sure every pet receives reliable, attentive care and feels safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I tailor my care to each pet's routine so they experience as little disruption as possible while their owner is away. For walks and drop-in visits, I make sure pets have fresh water, are fed according to their schedule, get exercise, bathroom breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention. I also keep an eye on their overall well-being and can provide updates and photos for peace of mind. For overnight stays in a client's home, I maintain the pet's normal routine and provide companionship throughout the evening and morning. I understand that many pets are most comfortable in their own environment, so I focus on creating a calm, safe, and stress-free experience while treating both the pet and the home with respect. As a lifelong dog owner, I know how important trust and reliability are when someone is caring for your pet, and I treat every dog as if they were my own.

Since I am retired, my two cats are accustomed to me being at home most of the time, so I was a reluctant to leave them alone for ten days with a pet sitter just coming in a couple times a day to feed them. So, Mary S. was a house sitter as well as a pet sitter while I was gone. Both cats were very content upon my return, which I attribute to the care and attention they received from Mary S. About: I’m a proud momma of two Pit Bulls that I rescued, locally. My passion for Bully breeds started 25 years ago when I adopted my first one and discovered the slobbering kisses that made me a forever fan. Over the last decade I fostered many (over 50) pregnant moms and their babies for local Rescues. I’m available anytime of the day and 7 days a week unless booked or unavailable. I also do not mind last minute drop ins. After my own experience trying to find a sitter for my two pit bulls, I realized that most sitters didn’t accept Pit Bulls and that there was a need for Pittie sitters! I love all breeds and have lots of experience.

About: Hi! My name is Alyssa, and I'm 28 years old. Animals have been one of the biggest parts of my life for as long as I can remember, and I've spent all 28 years of my life with animals by my side. If you're looking for someone who will care for your pet like they're part of the family, you've come to the right place. I work from home full-time as a part-time mental health therapist and spray tan artist, which means your pet will receive plenty of supervision, companionship, potty breaks, playtime, enrichment activities, and one-on-one attention throughout the day. My home features a fully fenced backyard for safe outdoor play, plenty of toys and puzzle activities, and even a dog ramp for senior pets or those who need a little extra support. A few things that make me different: 🐾 Home full-time — your pet won't spend the day alone 🐾 Fully fenced backyard 🐾 28 years of living with and loving animals/pets 🐾 18+ years of hands-on pet care experience 🐾 Veterinary hospital experience (approximately 1 year) 🐾 Comfortable administering medications and injections 🐾 Experience with senior, special-needs, and post-surgical pets 🐾 Experience with tripod dogs and mobility challenges 🐾 Bathing, brushing, ear cleaning, and basic grooming experience 🐾 Toys, enrichment puzzles, snuffle mats, and interactive activities provided 🐾 Experience caring for cats, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, and other small animals 🐾 Frequent photo and video updates for pet parents Animals have always been one of the greatest joys in my life. In addition to spending my entire life around dogs, I worked as a kennel attendant at a veterinary hospital in North Charleston, where I cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs. One of the reasons pet care is so meaningful to me is because I recently lost my beloved Golden Retriever, Cooper, in early June 2026 after a courageous battle with osteosarcoma. Cooper taught me more about patience, resilience, and unconditional love than I could ever put into words. Throughout his journey, I cared for him through amputation surgery, chemotherapy, physical therapy, medications, and mobility challenges, giving me firsthand experience caring for pets who need a little extra support and understanding. While I know I'll have another dog someday, I'm taking some time to grieve and heal before making that decision. For now, I would love nothing more than to share my home, attention, and affection with pets who deserve all the love in the world. Caring for animals has always brought me so much happiness, and I genuinely miss having furry companionship around the house. As a mental health therapist, patience, empathy, communication, consistency, and attention to detail are qualities I use every day—and they're qualities I bring into pet care as well. I understand how difficult it can be to leave your pet with someone else because I've been that pet parent. Whether your pet loves long walks, backyard adventures, enrichment games, couch cuddles, or simply having someone nearby, I'll do everything I can to make them feel safe, comfortable, loved, and right at home. When your pet stays with me, they're not just being watched—they're becoming part of the family. ❤️ Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I work from home and have a flexible schedule. This allows me to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, enrichment activities, medication administration if needed, and plenty of one-on-one attention throughout the day. One thing that makes my care a little different is that I do not currently have any pets of my own in the home, and I do NOT take on multiple Rover boarding clients at the same time. This means your pet receives individualized attention and isn't competing with other animals for affection, supervision, or care. Because I am home most of the day, pets staying with me are rarely left alone for extended periods. Whether your pet enjoys playing in the backyard, working on enrichment puzzles, going for walks, or simply relaxing nearby while I work, they'll have plenty of companionship and attention throughout their stay. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, loved, and as close to home as possible while you're away. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I live in a pet-friendly home with a fully fenced backyard where dogs can safely play, explore, and exercise under supervision. Because I work from home, I am able to closely monitor pets throughout the day and quickly notice any changes in behavior, appetite, energy level, mobility, or overall well-being. Unlike some boarding situations, I do not currently have any pets of my own in the home, and I intentionally limit the number of Rover bookings I accept at one time. In most cases, your pet will be the only Rover guest staying with me. This allows me to provide individualized care, reduce stress, minimize the risk of conflicts between animals, and ensure your pet receives my full attention. Before every stay, I take time to learn your pet's routine, feeding schedule, medications, favorite activities, sleeping preferences, and any special needs. I am comfortable administering oral medications and injections, including insulin, and I have experience caring for senior pets, post-surgical pets, tripod dogs, and pets with mobility challenges. Inside my home, pets have access to comfortable places to relax, enrichment activities, snuffle mats, puzzle games, toys, and plenty of one-on-one attention. I also provide regular photo and video updates because I know firsthand how reassuring it is to know your pet is safe and happy while you're away. My goal is simple: to provide a safe, loving environment where your pet feels comfortable, cared for, and treated like family.

About: My family and I are Christians. I was making plans to get my son a dog once he started working this summer. His big sister, who is now 20, worked at Ripleys Aquarium before she joined the Airforce a year ago. He wants a job there this summer just so he can learn more about animals. He is a natural around dogs and other animals. He is an honor role student who wants to be a vet one day. While I was out walking in my neighborhood, I ran into a sweet lady who told us about Rover.com. I thought how perfect is that. We get the love and warmth of a dog, and I will be able to teach my beloved son about responsibility and helping others. Your dog will get the love and care that you would expect and will be completely safe with us. The last dog I owned was a Staffordshire Terrier. We loved him. His resting place is in my home Bermuda.

Kelly took care of our my 13yr terrier Owen over 4 days. This was my first time arranging housesitting through Rover, and I would highly recommend Kelly. She is a very caring person who I found easy to trust to care for my Owen and our home. We had an unexpected event that Owen's older sibling(Bevin) passed away a day before Kelly was to arrive. At the age of 14.5 years, Bevin was slowing down and had been losing weight over the past months. Kelly couldn't have been more supportive to both myself and Owen in our grief of her passing. Owen especially enjoyed the company on her dog Kava, who is very sweet and friendly. It was a good that he found a buddy with Kava. While I was away, Kelly kept me well updated with photos and messages. Upon her departure she also left the house spotless. I am forever thankful to both Kelly and Kava for helping ease the transition after our loss. I highly recommend her, especially if you have older dogs like my own. Kelly is top my list for future pet sitting whenever her schedule fits ours!

"Aunt" Sydnee is the best sitter I could ask for! She's a true dog lover, a great communicator and treated my dog as her own. She is so sweet and had no problems following Lucy's care instructions (I'm kind of particular). She even administered Lucy's eye drops when needed. Lucy especially enjoyed her snuggles on the bed, their walks together, tummy skritches, and an occasional pup cup too! 😁 Sydnee's a top notch sitter and I won't hesitate to have her sit for us again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Garden City

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Garden City on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 369 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Garden City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Garden City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Garden City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Garden City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
