“Kristen did a great job taking care of our dogs for an extended stay (overnights and days), when we needed to travel across the country recently. You can quickly tell that she cares deeply about animals, and really pays attention to the details in taking care of them. We absolutely would hire her again.”

“Ladonna is like family. We have used her for a few years now because she treats our fur baby like one of her own. She goes over and above to care for our dog. Lover her!!!”
“Kat was amazing! She took great care of our two dogs, cat, and our home. She was very communicative and even sent pictures of our fur babies to us while we were gone. She is very kind and trustworthy. We will definitely contact Kat when we travel again!”

About: I’ve been an animal lover my whole life, growing up with cats, dogs, and just about every other pet you can imagine! I had the joy of raising a black lab for 12 amazing years, and now am lucky to share life with my happy, energetic red lab, Gus. I adore all animals and understand that every pet is unique. What sets me apart is my experience with both puppies and senior dogs, my dedication to making pets feel loved and safe, and my willingness to go the extra mile, whether it’s beach walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply giving them attention and care while you’re away. I treat every pet as part of my family, so you can relax knowing they’re in caring, trustworthy hands. I have a flexible schedule and do my best to accommodate a variety of needs, including daytime, evenings, and weekends. I’m happy to work with your routine and can often adjust timing when needed. Feel free to reach out with your specific schedule and I’ll do my best to make it work! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I treat every pet like my own and always make sure they feel secure, cared for, and well supervised. I pay close attention to behavior, surroundings, and any specific instructions you provide. I’m reliable, responsible, and always focused on creating a calm, positive environment! You can expect regular updates and photos so you feel confident and connected while you’re away.
“Since I am retired, my two cats are accustomed to me being at home most of the time, so I was a reluctant to leave them alone for ten days with a pet sitter just coming in a couple times a day to feed them. So, Mary S. was a house sitter as well as a pet sitter while I was gone. Both cats were very content upon my return, which I attribute to the care and attention they received from Mary S. I recommend her highly and would use her again in a heartbeat.”

About: My family and I are Christians. I was making plans to get my son a dog once he started working this summer. His big sister, who is now 20, worked at Ripleys Aquarium before she joined the Airforce a year ago. He wants a job there this summer just so he can learn more about animals. He is a natural around dogs and other animals. He is an honor role student who wants to be a vet one day. While I was out walking in my neighborhood, I ran into a sweet lady who told us about Rover.com. I thought how perfect is that. We get the love and warmth of a dog, and I will be able to teach my beloved son about responsibility and helping others. Your dog will get the love and care that you would expect and will be completely safe with us. The last dog I owned was a Staffordshire Terrier. We loved him. His resting place is in my home Bermuda.
“Paris is an exceptional pet sitter who is caring, playful with our pups, punctual, polite, and trustworthy. We were lucky to find her during our vacation at Myrtle Beach. She even recommended an awesome restaurant!! Don’t hesitate to book with her, she’s the best!”

About: I've had and taken care of a dog since I was 7 years old. Dogs were always a part of our family life. In my family and friend group I am the go-to person for pet sitting and puppy walks. I recently participated with a trainer from Ultimate K9 training in Southern Maryland with my own pup Russel who passed with flying colors and both he and I learned many new skills and tricks. Working with dogs is one of the loves of my life. I typically work a 7-5 shift at my day job but do have some flexibility during the day that I can use for a pup break. Evenings I am consistently available after 5pm. Weekend work is not a problem and I am open to helping support your much needed getaway. Love is always the first ingredient but of course we respect puppy boundaries as set by the puppy parents or how comfortable the pup is until they feel comfortable. Meals are fed to pups at the same time to make sure they are not feeling favoritism. Belly rubs and play time are also important for bonding and trust. I will send images of pets daily if the pet parent would like. Just let me know.
About: I’m a proud momma of two Pit Bulls that I rescued, locally. My passion for Bully breeds started 25 years ago when I adopted my first one and discovered the slobbering kisses that made me a forever fan. Over the last decade I fostered many (over 50) pregnant moms and their babies for local Rescues. I’m available anytime of the day and 7 days a week unless booked or unavailable. I also do not mind last minute drop ins. After my own experience trying to find a sitter for my two pit bulls, I realized that most sitters didn’t accept Pit Bulls and that there was a need for Pittie sitters! I love all breeds and have lots of experience.
“Alyssa sent pics while I was out of town and Lucci was super content when I got home and Alyssa was highly reliable. It was uneventful and I would absolutely recommend Alyssa and I would have her take care of my pup overnight in the future.”

“If I could give Nikki more than 5 stars, I would! She took amazing care of Bubbles. Sent a lot of pictures and was easy to communicate with. Nikki went above and beyond taking care of Bubbles, which gave us peace of mind. Nikki is awesome!”

About: I am a previous dog owner of 16 years. I unfortunately lost them both a few years back and looking for a dog to walk or sit with as this would fill my heart! They do truly bring me joy. I am currently a dog walker for one other dog in my neighborhood. I am a current p/t caregiver for my dad with dementia and I am looking for a p/t job as a walker or dog sitter. This is great therapy for me. I love being outside and I love to walk. I am a compassionate and patient person with animals and with people that are looking for help. If I am in another person’s home, I would treat their pet and their home as if it were my own. I am willing to play with your pet, walk and give treats and food as needed.
“Craig was outstanding. I would refer him to one and all. This was a very positive experience for me and my fur babies. If I ever have to leave my pets alone at my new home if Florida. I would send Craig an airline ticket to watch them again. Thank you very much.”

“Kristen is a warm and genuine outstanding person to work with and my dog just absolutely loves her. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for caring and supportive care for their dog. She’s highly reliable.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs every kind since I was 10 and I’ve been around them my whole life. I love spending time with animals whether it’s a long walk, a hike, or some snuggles on the couch. I’m currently in college so between me and my partner we are home almost all week. Also available on weekends. Animals will have frequent potty breaks, love, and visitors! I have grass area for potty breaks and long walks we can go on. I’m available to crate any animal at night or have them in bed.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Burgess
We loved Grace, as did Riley and Cooper! We met her before we booked and she was very pleasant and the boys loved her. You can tell she loves dogs! We went over their schedule for feeding, treats, etc and I left her a list as well. She sent us pictures of them everyday, which we loved. We had let her know when we were about 2 hours away and told her it would be fine to leave if she wanted to, so we didn’t see her again, but she texted us once we got home to see if everything was ok. Our house looked exactly the same as when we left! She was pleasant and such a pleasure to work with. We loved Grace!!!
We went away for 5 days 4 nights and needed a sitter for our two dogs, one of which had a stroke a year and a half ago and is declining. There was No hesitation as to who we were going to call… Tracy! She had stayed with them before and took amazing care of our pups. We felt at ease that should something happen to our girl with the stroke Tracy would know exactly how to handle it. Once again Tracy was awesome, kept us informed, sent some pictures and took great care of our girlies. Tracy is professional on all fronts and should be your 1st choice to sit your pets. We highly highly recommend Tracy and again, Thank you so very much Tracy!! ❤️❤️

Lorel was an excellent dog AND house sitter! You can tell she has a real love for animals and treated ours like a member of her own family. Always sending videos and photos, the communication was great from the time we booked with her until her final day. We would certainly recommend her to anyone looking for a loving pet sitter. Thanks Lorel!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Burgess walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Burgess maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Burgess choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Burgess. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
