“Jessica and Kayla are sweethearts! They took the rover job knowing that my dog may need a little extra time to become acclimated with new visitors. They each came in slowly and followed my directives for my dog to become familar with them. It was a success. Also, I like the idea of them being a duo for a greater chance of them accepting the rover booking due to availability. Thank you ladies.”

“Amanda is amazing. She is so good with my cat, Starry. Since Starry is a bit shy, Amanda graciously gets down to Starry's level to spend time with her. Amanda always shares pictures of Starry and how they interact. It makes me feel okay when I can't be home myself.”

“Kristen did an excellent job taking care of my Cali. Cali is a senior cat with special dietary needs and Kristen had no problems with it. I will definitely book with Kristen again.”

“Debby has a true LOVE of animals and shows it in every way she cares for your pet. She took amazing care of our Koda and went above and beyond making sure he had everything he needed and more! I know she made my pup’s day giving him lots of attention and exercise. She will be my go to for my baby’s care and I’m so glad I found her. Thank you Debby!”

“Kaylin let our dog out for two weeks while our main person was out of town. She was great! Reliable, punctual and took great care of lady. We will be using her again forsure! She even gave lady a toy at the end that she loves. Book her, you will feel at peace knowing your dog is being taken great care of !!”

“I truly appreciated Kat taking such care with our cats. she was stellar about communication and updates as well as sending photos of the Maple (the other two are more shy around new people). I would definitely book Kat again in the future. She was a pleasure to work with. Thank you, Kat!”

About: I’ve had animals from Guinea pigs,rodents, ferrets, cats, dogs,birds, etc. I’ve also volunteered at farms learning the proper care routines for several animals. I am planning to return back to school shortly for wildlife conservation while my first career path was a veterinarian. Ive always had a passion and genuine love for animals and making sure they’re properly cared for and I would love to be able to do that for the rest of my life hopefully soon!! I appreciate any care instructions or special tips for your loved ones. Otherwise I will do my best to make sure I’m properly educated on how to care for your family members and making sure they’re as comfortable and loved as can be :) I’m a non smoker pet free household. I’m currently working a classic 9-5. I have evenings open to care for your loved ones. I am also free on Sunday and Monday. I live in an apartment with a fenced dog park. I have no animals at home and do not smoke. I just love animals and wanna be able to bring the best care to them per your needs and your furry family.
About: I am a previous dog owner of 16 years. I unfortunately lost them both a few years back and looking for a dog to walk or sit with as this would fill my heart! They do truly bring me joy. I am currently a dog walker for one other dog in my neighborhood. I am a current p/t caregiver for my dad with dementia and I am looking for a p/t job as a walker or dog sitter. This is great therapy for me. I love being outside and I love to walk. I am a compassionate and patient person with animals and with people that are looking for help. If I am in another person’s home, I would treat their pet and their home as if it were my own. I am willing to play with your pet, walk and give treats and food as needed.

About: I have several pets of my own and have several references if needed for people who I have sat for. I have done this for years and babysitting. Cats works well within my schedule. I enjoy taking care of cats and have four years. I prefer to babysit your cat in your home as they feel more comfortable in their own surroundings. I tend to try to play with them. I clean the litter box every time I go in I have also made sure that their water bowls are clean every day.
About: I’ve been surrounded by cats ever since I was born, over the years I’ve had 6 cats! Currently I am taking care of my own kittens Randall and Penny my baby girl! Recently my boyfriend and I got a golden retriever puppy, he’s only 12 weeks old! I’d love to take care of your puppies and kitties too! I have a very flexible schedule and would love to help out. I am currently working pretty minimal hours. My schedule is very flexible, early morning, mid day, and evenings are usually open. Reoccurring visits are welcome! “Once again, Alexis was amazing with our 4 cats. She went above and beyond, cleaning up a mess the kitties made and completely changing their litter box when there was an odor. She is the best and we will continue to use her for future trips when our kitties need to be looked after! Thanks Alexis!”

About: Hi! I have had a variety of dogs my whole life. Neighbors, friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed, bath their pets. There is nothing more that brings me joy then hanging out with any fur baby. I do photography on the side and I am always more than welcome to snap some pictures of your pups! I am currently in between (remote) jobs and have a lot of time on my hands. Looking for work to keep me busy! I am very flexible and willing to work with your schedules. I have a 5 year old pitbull chocolate lab mix who is very energetic and friendly! We go on hikes, trips to Starbuck, for a pup cup of course and play fetch. I am a very reliable and friendly person who will make sure that your fur baby is content and comfortable. I had found/rescued Grace (my current pup) on the side of the road when she was 5 weeks old in very poor condition. She was malnourished and had mange. After vet appointments after vet appointment she regained some weight and got rid of the mange and now she is the sweetest girl! I am so lucky!

“Lauren did amazing with my four month old puppy! I’ve had a struggle trying to find a good sitter for her but I trusted her completely! She gave photos and very detailed notes throughout the drop in that made me feel comfortable. I’ll be using her in the future!”

About: Hey! I’m Miranda, a local Grand Strand dog lover who knows how hard it can be to leave your pup behind, especially when you’re traveling or working all day. I’m based in the Murrells Inlet area and can help with dogs throughout Murrells Inlet, Garden City, Surfside Beach and Pawleys Island. Whether you need a quick walk, a drop-in visit, or someone to care for your dog while you’re away, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. I’m especially comfortable with dogs who love attention, walks, playtime and plenty of cuddles. I’m also big on keeping you updated while you’re gone. You’ll get photos, little updates and peace of mind knowing how your pup is doing. I have a dog of my own, Lady, who is part of the family and absolutely loves being outside, going for rides and enjoying the Grand Strand lifestyle. Since I live in such a dog-friendly area, I also understand that many of my clients may be visiting the beach with their dogs. If you’re staying in Murrells Inlet, Surfside or Pawleys and need someone to give your pup some attention while you head out for dinner, spend the day on the boat, hit the beach or do something dogs can't join you for, I’d be happy to help. My goal is simple: you enjoy your time away, and your dog gets spoiled while you're gone. 🐶❤️ I’ll always treat your home and your pet with the same care and respect I’d expect for my own. I am currently working mostly out of my home, so taking our furry friends for walks around Murrells inlet, Garden City beach or parks would fit well into my schedule. I have a friendly 8 year old Chihuahua mix, whom we adopted 4 years ago. We do live in a stilted home so pups that are able to walk up stairs are going to be important if you choose to have your pups over at our home.

“Kelly relieved any stress we would have had about leaving our two cats and chinchilla for an extended vacation. She comforted them with her visits and us by sending several pics. We appreciated her help and will definitely use her services in the future!!”

About: I have had dogs my entire life! I am great with animals. I do have a part time job but it's mostly mid-day and I have breaks. I am athletic so I can keep up with most dogs! I also love walks on the beach! I love animals and I have been raised around dogs of all sizes! I have a large yard as well as an outdoor pin for dogs that enjoy being outside! I do have a cat but she is good with dogs! I also have my own car so transportation should never be and issue. I am also close to a pet hospital if ever necessary! I am very passionate about dogs, and I am interested in getting to know you and your dog(s)!
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Garden City
Amanda was fantastic! She was super helpful at a sort of short term notice. She took the absolute best care and she must have the best camera skills because the photos were amazing. She even brought them toys which they loved and left a sweet note. I absolutely recommend her as your next pet sitter!

Kayla & Jessica are the absolute best! They’re always available on short notice when we need someone to watch our two dogs for the weekend. They’re reliable, always on time, and take such great care of our boys. We’re so grateful to have found them and feel lucky to have people we can trust with our pups. We highly recommend them!

I highly recommend Mary! She did daily drop-in check-ins for my four cats over a three-day period, and she was absolutely wonderful. My cats are incredibly high-maintenance and very picky eaters, so I am always a bit anxious leaving them. Mary handled their specific routines perfectly and made sure everyone ate well. It gave me total peace of mind while I was away. I will definitely be booking her again!

Jeffrey was absolutely wonderful and incredibly reliable! He took incredible care of Tyson, who warmed up to him quickly. They spent time playing together with his feather toy, and Jeffrey handled Tyson's medication perfectly. He also went completely above and beyond by feeding and watering my outdoor stray cat during his visits. I highly recommend him and will definitely book him again!

Nicole and her sweet kiddos were absolutely awesome with our dog! It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such loving and caring hands while we were away. It was clear he was well cared for and happy when we returned. We’re so grateful to have found Nicole and will definitely be booking with her again. Highly, highly recommend!

April was absolutely amazing with Lola. She spent quality time with her, took her on great walks, and cared for her as if she were her own dog. Her daughters were wonderful as well, showing Lola so much kindness and affection. I highly recommend April. She made me feel completely comfortable leaving Lola in her care for a few days, and I knew Lola was loved and well taken care of the entire time. ❤️

This was our first time using Rover. We were delighted with Alexis L. And the professionalism and care which she demonstrated from our first contact and throughout. Wonderful to see her able to engage with our skittish but affection hungry kitty. The twice daily updates with photos and videos were most welcome. When you know your pet's care is in such capable hands you can relax and enjoy your time away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
