Taylor is incredible. We had HVAC issues while she was house sitting, and she was SO gracious and communicative. She even made sure to rearrange her plans to make sure our HVAC repair tech could check on things. Also, we get so many updates and pictures. As someone who is also a pet sitter and has been on Rover as both a sitter and pet parent since 2016, I can confidently say that Taylor is among the best.

Joshua is a cat whisperer! I was so concerned about leaving my persnickety cat, but Joshua and Puddy became fast friends. The house was spotless when I got back - all newspapers and mail collected. I couldn’t be happier.

Haylie was a wonderful, kind dog sitter and our two dogs loved her. It's obvious she's very comfortable around dogs. She sent us pictures and updates every day. Her communication with us each day was great. I think from the pictures she sent that our two dogs were each trying to get all of her attention. :) We would recommend her unreservedly. and will be contacting her again. Thanks!

Guiomar was an excellent Dog Sitter! She went above and beyond what was required of her. She was very attentive to the dogs and their needs. She even helped our dog out when she was choking and made sure she was OK afterwards. She followed the dogs routine perfectly and the dogs were very happy and healthy when we returned. She was great at communicating with us and asking questions when needed. She left the house in perfect condition when she left as well. I would highly recommend her and I will definitely be using her again. She definitely put my mind at ease and the dogs seem to really enjoy her as well.

About: I have cared for all ages of dogs, including my own senior dog. I am detail-oriented and can accommodate many requests, including sending all the cutest update pictures! I do not have a dog of my own right now but miss them and would love to come work with yours. I am a graduate student right now with classes that are mainly in the morning, so I have most of the rest of my days free to schedule any needs you and your fur baby may need. I work remotely in the afternoons so I would be able to spend as much time as necessary with your pet. I have multiple bedrooms if your pet needs its own space to relax, or they can roam freely at my home or yours. I know being away from your pet can be anxiety educing, so whatever you need to feel comfortable, I want to help.

About: T.ender L.oving C.are of your babies while you are away: long or short-term, drop-ins, one-time, or regular care. Overnights, daily, weekly, monthly, anxiety issues, senior care, special needs — all okay! I’ve had cats, dogs, and fish since I was young. I also have previous veterinary and emergency veterinary assistant experience. I’m an experienced aquarist, plant and garden caregiver, and have hand-raised baby birds. My own babies include: Hestia my newest adopted kitty, 6 pond goldfish and 1 pleco, 4 chickens, a bunch of plants, and I dabble in aquaponics (growing fish and plants together). I’m mature, responsible, detailed, and trustworthy. Taking clients now until my schedule is filled. Hope to see you soon! Feeding, care, play, and love — all day every day! We’ll probably listen to some music and do some howling too! We’ll take field trips to the beach as often as possible. HOUSE SITTING: I have deep respect for my client’s pets and home as I am also a property owner and property manager. I’m mature and professional and I listen carefully to important client instructions. I assure excellent care. We have lots of room for plenty of pets that won’t be in contact with one another (so no worries about getting along with others). All pets must have current vaccinations and must be on prescription flea/tic meds.

About: I’m a lifelong dog lover who truly enjoys caring for animals and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away. I grew up with a family dog, so caring for pets has always been part of my daily life. Throughout high school, I also worked at a boarding kennel where I gained hands-on experience caring for many different breeds, sizes, and personalities of dogs. During that time I helped with feeding schedules, cleaning, administering basic care, and making sure every dog got the attention and exercise they needed. Whether your dog needs walks, drop-in visits, or overnight care, my goal is to make them feel comfortable and keep their routine as normal as possible. I’m happy to follow any specific instructions you have and will always keep you updated with photos and messages so you know how your pet is doing. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine since I manage an Airbnb property and have a very flexible schedule. This allows me to be available throughout the day for walks, drop-in visits, feedings, and plenty of attention. I provide attentive, personalized care whether pets are in my home or their own home. In both environments, I prioritize safety, communication, and consistency. I provide regular updates with photos so you can feel confident knowing your pet is happy and well cared for.

About: I’ve been the primary caregiver for my own dog for 11 years, handling daily walks, feeding, grooming, medications, and vet visits. I’ve also cared for family members’ and friends dogs with a variety of needs, ages, and personalities. In addition, I’m an active member of Texas A&M LEIAS, a women’s organization founded on leadership, academics, and service with a strong focus on animal rescue. This involvement has strengthened my sense of responsibility, patience, and commitment to providing attentive, compassionate pet care. As a college student, I’m very organized with my time, and pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I plan my schedule around classes to ensure pets receive consistent walks, feedings, playtime, and attention. I’m committed to maintaining each pet’s normal routine and can be flexible to accommodate specific needs, whether that’s daily check-ins, extended care, or overnight stays. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I carefully follow all owner instructions, keep pets secure, and monitor behavior and health closely. Whether in my home or a client’s home, I strive to create a calm, structured, and loving environment. About: Hi there! My name is Michael (pronounced Michelle) but I go by Niki! As a lifelong animal lover and beachside mama with a heart as big as a Great Dane, I go beyond basic dog sitting. I treat your fur baby like family—because they are. From belly rubs to pup-approved playlists, each visit is personalized, playful, and filled with love. Whether it’s morning zoomies, sunset strolls, or calming snuggles while you’re away, I create a safe, cozy, and joyful experience tailored to your pet’s unique personality. Your dog doesn’t just get a sitter—they get a best friend, a routine they can count on, and a home-away-from-home feeling every time. Pet care isn’t something I squeeze in—it’s woven into my daily life. As a mama with a flexible schedule, I’m up early and out walking when the world’s still quiet (and perfect for peaceful pup strolls). This isn’t just a job for me—it’s like a calling, a joy, and a part of who I am every single day. I have a big fenced in yard and a friendly, full of energy mini dachshund to keep your fur baby company! I can also easily crate your fur baby, if you request it.

Santana was absolutely wonderful! I couldn’t have asked for a better person to care for Maple. She was kind, attentive, dependable, and treated Maple as if she were her own. I could tell Maple felt completely comfortable and happy with her, which gave me such peace of mind while I was away. Santana kept me updated, and I never had to worry about a thing. It’s such a great feeling to find someone you can completely trust with your dog. I would recommend Santana without hesitation, and she will definitely be my first choice anytime I need someone to care for Maple again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Galveston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Galveston on Rover is $48.47 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 409 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Galveston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Galveston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Galveston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Galveston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Galveston. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
