“Suzanne watched our dog for about 4 days and he really enjoyed his time there and playing with her dogs and in the backyard. She sent us a picture everyday so we could see what he's up too. We'd definitely use her again when we're in the area again.”

“Celene was fantastic! She’s easy going and flexible with the pick up and drop off. She loves dogs and took such great care of Vinnie. We received multiple updates a day with photos. Vinnie got along with Penny really well. Would recommend and use her again!”

“Bosco always enjoys his time with Breanna and Clay. This was his first overnight and they kept us well informed on how he was doing. We'd have no problem boarding there again. Thanks!”

“We were so pleased with Jen and her husbands care and affection for our dogs! They loved on our 2 mastiffs for 5 days while we were out of town. She kept in touch with pictures and updates and gave my husband peace of mind knowing the dogs were never alone. We would most definitely book again with them. We appreciate you both so much! The drive to you was so worth it?”

“Beth was amazing with Tucker! I could tell he was in good hands. She sent pictures almost daily to keep me updated. She was very flexible with drop off and pick up times, which was very important to me. Would recommend Beth and will use her again should I need to have Tucker boarded for a long period of time.”

“Rachel and Michael were awesome!!!! I have never used Rover and urgently needed to when I was at a work conference. Rachel responded that same evening for an early drop off the next day. She sent me regular updates and pictures of Buster for the next 2 days and took such great care of my Senior Shih Tzu!!! I look forward to using her again, and I am so grateful!!!”

“Lillian and Jeremy are excellent sitters to my dog Smokey! They are always my number one choice everytime I leave town. My dog Smokey loves them and their two lovely dogs that are his friends now! They are excellent communicators and are very prompt with responding, and they also send me picture updates of my pet. I will continue to rebook with them!”

“As always Birdie goes above and beyond what is expected. My Maggie gets so excited when we pull up in front of her house. Birdie takes the time to play with her and allows her to snuggle next to her when she wants to. She is so happy there. I feel she is in the best care.”

“Kristin is simply the best dog sitter we have ever used! Our dog loves it at her house and won’t even let us say goodbye when dropping her off at Kristin’s! Our dog immediately runs to play with her dog! I highly recommend Kristin!”

“Erin was amazing! She took such great care of Gus and for a long time! (9 nights) Gus had so much fun and she sent us updates multiple times a day. I had peace of mind the entire time and was never worried about my boy. We will absolutely be going back to Erin!”

“Oscar was great with our two dogs. He sent several photos every day and provided updates on their activities and behaviors. We look forward to leaving our pets with him again soon.”

“Millie is so well cared for, which puts our minds at ease while we travel! We received videos and photos of her playing and we get her back with a nice soft coat as she gets brushed. This was Millie’s 2nd stay and we will return again!!”

“Nicole was such a life saver! We needed her for a last minute trip and she was so gracious enough to watch our puppy, Luna. She updated me with pictures multiple times per day and always let me know what was going on. Will be reaching out to her again if we need a sitter!!”

“A big thank you to Cindie and family for Phoebe’s wonderful care while we were on vacation. She enjoyed her stay and we enjoyed peace of mind knowing she was receiving love and attention. Highly recommend Cindie.”

“Cindy has watched our dog, Carly a couple of times now and has provided wonderful care. We've only had Carly a little over a year & she can be high energy and a handful at times so we weren't sure how she would react to her new surroundings. She sent us photos of Carly with updates daily to put our minds at ease. Carly really enjoyed her time with Cindy.”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ George is a gem of a dog sitter! Leaving my pup in someone else’s care is never easy, but George made the entire experience feel seamless and safe. From the moment we met, his calm energy and genuine love for animals were obvious. He kept my dog’s routine intact, sent regular updates (including adorable photos!). What really stood out was how attuned George was to my dog’s emotional needs. She’s usually shy around new people, but she warmed up to him quickly and that speaks volumes. My flight was delayed many times, but he made sure that he was flexible and continued to take care of my dog until I was able to figure things out . I came home to a happy, relaxed pup and a clean home. I wouldn’t hesitate to book George again for all my future trips or recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate sitter.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
