Ashley was amazing with our two dogs! They can be very particular with meeting new people but they loved Ashley and she was so good with them. She followed all the instructions we left for her and was so communicative during her sitting. We would absolutely love to have Ashley look after our dogs again!

About: I’ve grown up in a home with dogs, and worked briefly in an animal shelter, caring for dogs from newborn puppies to seniors, responsible for their daily care and enrichment. My shifts are short consistent, allowing me to have a concrete schedule to work around to best meet the needs of all dogs and cats. As the seasons change, so do my hours, allowing me more availability for bookings. I have knowledge on animal enrichment and training, and know how to handle different pets with all different temperaments. I know how to crate dogs, walk them, and bond with all sorts of dogs and cats.

Love the photos! This was our first time using anyone for a pop in visit. This was totally last minute! Asked Paul and his fiance last night at 7pm to please help us, and without hesitation they came right over and met our boys. They did a pop in visit today and they were wonderful!!! Will definitely use them again :) They were great!!!! Thank you both so much !

Erikah is an amazing sitter this is our second time that she has watched our pet for about a week both times. She treats our dog like her own, she responds quick and was even able to alter some of the times when we needed. We leave knowing she puts her best foot forward in caring for our pet with her fabulous communication, being prompltly on time, and her love for animals.

I can’t say enough good things about Megan! She is amazing! She was able to come in on such short notice due to a prior sitter not working out. She dealt with my animals when they were the most unruly. I swear, they pulled out all the tricks just for her and handled it so well. I would trust her with my whole farm any day! My dogs, sheep, chickens, rabbits and cat have never been in such good hands. Thank you, Megan for being a literal God send during my vacation!

About: I've been caring for dogs for about 8 years and have experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. Every dog I've owned has been a rescue, so I've learned the importance of patience, building trust, and helping dogs feel safe and comfortable in new environments. I cared for my Border Collie/Husky mix from through his senior years, giving me experience with the changing needs of aging dogs. I also currently have a 75-pound Pit Bull mix back home, so I'm comfortable handling larger, high-energy breeds as well. What sets me apart is my calm, patient approach. I understand that every dog is different, and I take the time to get to know each pet so they feel secure, happy, and well cared for while you're away. Pet care fits well into my routine. I'm currently completing a chemical engineering internship Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, so I'm available before work, in the evenings, and on most weekends for walks, drop-in visits, and pet care. During the fall and spring semesters, I'm a full-time college student, so my schedule varies each semester. However, I'm good at planning ahead and keeping my availability up to date so I can provide reliable care and clear communication. Every pet and home is different, so I always take the time to learn each owner's preferences and follow their routines and house rules closely. In my own home, I generally don't allow dogs on furniture, but I'm happy to maintain whatever rules and training standards a pet is used to in their owner's home. Safety is my top priority. I make sure pets have access to fresh water, receive plenty of attention and exercise, and are always supervised appropriately. I also pay close attention to their behavior and comfort level, especially when caring for pets in a new environment. I treat every home with respect and strive to provide dependable, trustworthy care so both pets and owners feel comfortable and at ease.

Jenni was WONDERFUL! On her second visit she asked if she could bring her dog for a playdate with her boyfriend and she sent photos and videos of happy, tail wagging pups playing ball together! I'm going to hire Jenni to come more regularly, hopefully with her pup! I will definitely use her for boarding because now my guy will be right at home with them all!

About: I had the privilege of caring for my Lab mix, who I adopted from a shelter, for two years. She had ongoing health complications, which taught me patience, compassion, and how to care for a dog with special needs. Even though she’s no longer with me, my love for animals is what inspired me to start caring for other people’s pets. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I currently work part-time, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or simply providing companionship, I enjoy making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved. I care for every pet with the same love, patience, and attention I would give my own. I follow each owner’s instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, and routines to help pets feel comfortable and safe. I take the time to understand each pet’s personality while providing a clean, caring, and stress-free environment. I also love keeping owners updated so they can feel confident their furry family member is in good hands.

Couldn’t be happier with Christine and how she took care of our three fur babies. Each one has a very unique personality and two out of three need to be won over which Christine did quickly. Her checks-ins were both full of information and very thoughtful with lots of pictures showing how well they were behaving while we were away. We will definitely use Christine again.

About: Animals are Gods among us. I agree with Ricky Gervais, that "a dog loves you more than it loves itself, and that's why I worship dogs." Honestly, this gig is a bit selfish - my sweet baby Pit Mix passed away recently & I miss her terribly. I'm certain that engaging with animals will soothe this depression. I am socially awkward with humans, but I love animals. This will be therapy, a true gift, to me. I also need to exercise more and would like to be able to afford any kind of home, some day. My family has had pets since I was in kindergarten. I volunteered with Faithful Friends in High School, through which I also fostered kittens. I have taken care of my neighbors' & friends' pets while away over the years, which I equate to a collective total of ~2 years. I take medical issues very seriously & cared for my doll when she was ill. I understand how stressful & important it is. My favorite thing about walking a dog is when the folded tops of their ears bounce up and down. I work full time until ~4:30PM, but I am usually free after. I am available for boarding on the weekends. On the days I work from home (typically Monday & Wednesday), I can also provide a walk or check in during my lunch hour (1 to 2PM). There are no other animals or children in my home; your pet will have my undivided attention. I have a large partially fenced in yard, and many walking trails nearby. I'm also happy to take care of a pet in your home, if preferred.

Faith was an exceptional dog sitter who exceeded all expectations. She was punctual every day, ensuring that our pups received consistent care and attention. Faith dedicated 30 minutes each day to sit with the dogs while they did their business, showing her commitment to their well-being. Additionally, she captured lots of great pictures of the pups, which was a delightful bonus for us. Her reliability and thoughtful care made a significant difference, and we highly recommend her services to anyone in need of a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter.

Finding Shirl for our Zoey, has been the absolute best thing for Zoey and for us as well. The care she gives is more than that, Shirl has also become a favorite loving human for Zoe. We had to go out of town and had her do multiple drop ins and it went amazing? Zoey was able to stay in the comfort of her own home, had no accidents, enjoyed each visit with Shirl and was so happy to greet us when we got home. There's no doubt Shirl is great with animals, but also gives them so much love that they thrive and totally enjoy her company. She is the Best of the Best and we would recomend her and Rover to anyone!!! ~Danny & Lyndi~

About: I am a very active and energetic person and love seeing the joy in all dogs. I have a 4 year old rescue who is also very energetic! She keeps me on my feet! Dogs love me because I love giving them attention all the time, I like to spoil them because that is what all dogs deserve! I am currently working part time at UD and I work from home, so I will have plenty time for your pets! Also dogs make me the happiest! The way I care for pets is showing them lots of attention when they want it. I play with them physically and mentally. I have simple games that can stimulate your dogs mind.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Elk Mills stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
