About: I’ve been a dog lover my entire life and have 9 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs. I’m currently the proud dog dad of two lovable pups, Hank and Presley, who are a huge part of my everyday life! Having two large, energetic dogs of my own, I’m very comfortable with different personalities, activity levels, and the attention that comes with caring for bigger breeds. Hank and Presley are both friendly with other dogs and love having some company. I understand how important it is to know your dog is in good hands while you’re away. I’ll treat your pup like one of my own, making sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, and affection. I’m also happy to send regular pictures and updates so you can relax knowing your dog is having a great time. Whether your dog loves to play or would rather lounge around the house, my goal is to make them feel comfortable, safe, and right at home! I’m taking a break from my career so am extremely flexible at the moment. Can do boarding, doggy day care and walking on weekdays and weekends I have a fenced in yard and 2 friendly golden retrievers to keep your dog company. They will be cared for like they are my own
“Thank you Allena! The whole family appreciates your kind hearted, care and attention for both our dog and cat. They were well taken care of, and I appreciate the fact that there were no messes to clean up when we got home, yay! I know that Chip, our dog, is a little neurotic and maybe I’m putting mildly. The fact that you were able to garner his love and affection within just a few days of meeting him and set up a great relationship of trust is really a testament to your love for dogs. We were super impressed that are cat, Azzy, came out long enough for you to get a couple of pictures from his hiding spots. Thank you for sending the photos along of them when you could and for keeping up daily with their schedule. We would recommend your services to anyone. Thanks again for all that you did.”

“Shirley is such an amazing person. She has been taking care of my dogs for 4 years, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with them. I’m never nervous when I leave as I know they are safe and happy. She always goes above and beyond. I highly recommend Shirley. She has become a part of our family.”

About: I have loved animals all my life and have a genuine rapport with them. My clients become friends and keep me as their most trusted sitter for years. I would love to help you with your furry loved ones too! I am a retired Physical Therapist Assistant and after taking care of people for years now I really want to just take care of animals. They calm my soul and fill my heart with their unconditional love. I enjoy taking doggies for walks, or sitting with a kitty on my lap. My best memories involve somebody with four legs! ;o) I will stay in your home and care for all your needs while I am there. All pet care needs as well as watering plants, mail/package collecting, home security, whatever needs attention. I will leave your home clean and well respected. I have never had a dissatisfied client, and my integrity is one thing I bring with me everywhere I go.
About: Hands on experience caring for animals I provide dependable, compassionate care tailored to each pet’s unique needs. I’m comfortable with a wide variety of animals from large to small. I am retired and I do Uber on the side. I have very flexible hours and I’m available from dog walking, spending time with your animals to staying with them in your home to house sitting. What sets me apart is that I treat every pet as if they were my own. I understand that every animal is different, and I will take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and any special needs that they may have. Whether your pet needs lots of playtime, quiet, companionship, medication or extra patience, I provide loving a attentive care so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. My goal is for both you and your pets is to feel completely comfortable, knowing they’re in experienced, caring and trustworthy hands.
“Was very attentive and had great communication. She always took lots of pictures of my babies and clearly spent time making sure they were taken care of and comfortable.”

About: My passion is making dogs feel loved, safe, and special. ❤️ I currently have two pups of my own who I’ve had for the past three years. I rescued them from Orange County Animal Services. They came from some very tough situations, so we’ve worked through quite a few challenges together, including generalized fear, separation anxiety, resource guarding, and overexcitement. These kinds of behaviors don’t scare me off! I’m one of those dog “extremists” who truly believes dogs are like little humans. They have their own personalities, fears, and struggles, and sometimes they just need a little extra patience, understanding, and reassurance. I also had the honor of loving my soul dog for 10 amazing years (rescued from OCAS as well!). He was a big dog who was reactive toward other animals, so I’m very comfortable caring for dogs who need to be separated from other dogs or cats. I’m especially cautious when walking reactive dogs and will always prioritize their safety by keeping them at a comfortable distance from other animals. Beyond my own dogs, I’ve cared for many other pups over the years, including my brother’s and friends’ smaller dogs (yes, I love the little ones too!). I also spent time volunteering at Orange County Animal Services, which gave me the opportunity to meet and care for dogs with all kinds of personalities and needs. My sitter ideology is that I don’t want to just be someone who checks in, feeds your dog, and heads out the door. I want your dog to feel like they’re spending time with someone who genuinely enjoys having them around. 🐾♥️ I currently have a lot of flexibility. I’m a former high school English teacher but now I’m a stay at home dog mom, so I’m hoping to fill my weeks up with bookings! I especially love caring for dogs in their own homes. I think most pups are happiest when they can stay in their familiar surroundings, sleep in their own bed, and keep their normal routine while their people are away. It can also be a lot less stressful than introducing them to a new home, especially for dogs who are nervous, reactive, or just really attached to their own space. Since I have two dogs of my own, I prefer to keep everyone in their familiar environments rather than asking them to adjust to each other. It also means I can give your pup my full attention while I’m with them. 😊

“John, Just wanted to say a huge thank you for taking such wonderful care of my dogs while I was away. It gave me complete peace of mind knowing they were fed and well taken care of the entire time. I truly appreciate everything you did. John went above and beyond every single day and had great communication. I couldn't have ask for a better person to take care of my pets. Highly recommended and will defininetly request his services again.”

“Tobi bonded with Jennifer from the very first meet and greet. She took exceptional care of him and went above and beyond our expectations in every way. Jennifer kept us updated consistently and was always quick to respond, giving us total peace of mind while we were away. We’ll 100% be reaching out to her again any time we need someone to care for Tobi!”

“I can't be without my Katie ;). She goes beyond the call of duty. My cats actually greeted her and they never do that with anyone else. To me, that's golden. Highly recommend. She is also very friendly, which is nice.”
About: I currently have had my rescue for 3 years now. He's become a very loveable guy and I've enjoyed watching him grow very much. I've gotten to see my friend's and customer's rescues grow very much while getting to be apart of their journey too. I value animals with a passion and love having the opportunity to be apart of their lives. I appreciate the opportunities rover has given to me to be close with more precious fur babies than ever before. Please reach out to schedule a time where your little guy or gal needs to be cared for. I'm happy to help 😊 My extended back story involves growing up in Texas with many animals from birds, hamsters, rats, crabs, all breeds of dogs, cats, fish, chickens, goats and a donkey. Animals are so precious in every form! Open schedule for animals that require higher needs and attention. Or if there's a need for more than one pet I can accommodate to their routines. When asked to house sit, I spend optimal time with the owners pet. If permitted I take them out to parks, my dog dexter loves to play with dogs. Long walks help calm them when their owners are away, along with treats and toys.

Excellent service, Jasper truly went above and beyond every day. We were able to enjoy our trip more knowing the level of care our pets received was significantly higher than expected. Pictures and communications were used consistently and effectively. Thank you for everything for Jasper you are the best there is!

Layla was a wonderful sitter for our dog. We were in a bind and needed someone same day to drop in and do a visit and to feed our dog and let her potty. Layla went above and beyond to make sure our dog was fed, pottied, played with and loved. She sent nice pictures and gave us a great update to know she was cared for. Highly recommended Layla for pet care!!

This was my first time using rover, Kennedy was amazing with making me feel better about leaving our kitties alone. She always sent pictures and gave thorough updates about the cats that really eased my mind. She kept up with all of the feedings, litter boxes, and playtime with the cats. I would 100% rebook her for future outings. Thank you Kennedy!

Brittni did an amazing job taking care of my cat! She was super friendly at the meet and greet and via messages! I really appreciated how she sent photos with an update every day! I had true peace of mind that my cat was well taken care of for my week long vacation!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
