“Alexandra was the best dog sitter for my pup Cleo!!! She clearly gave her lots of love, took her on walking adventures, treated her with a lot of love in her home, and sent plenty of pictures. I am so glad I found Alexandra. My little Cleo usually has anxiety and is lethargic after being picked up after a weekend away but after Alexandra she was so happy and full of energy, she clearly has a great weekend.”

“Our yorkie, Tucker, had a wonderful stay with Stacie and her family. I received texts and photos every day to let us know how he was doing. Stacie provided immediate responses to my texts. Tucker got so much special attention. I would recommend Stacie to anyone needing pet care ❤️.”

“Adolfo was incredible--we couldn't have asked for a more dog-oriented, skilled, caring person to care for our jack russell terrier. He was sensitive to her needs and she returned home a better dog for having been with him. What a relief. We feel lucky to have found him, and will take advantage of him as often as we can.”

“Tina and her husband were wonderful caretakers for our sweet terrier Lilly. They were so welcoming when we got there. Their setup was perfect. They had a fenced back yard. They also took her on walks, brushed her, doted on her, let her sleep with them and made her feel so at home that when we came to pick her up she wanted us to come in instead of running out to the car as usual. She wanted all her peeps to be together. That is true testimony to the wonderful experience she had. Tina also kept us updated every couple of days with photos and gave us a full report when we came to pick up. Our girl had no problems so no more reporting was required. We were delighted with their services!”

“Margaret was AMAZING!!! I need someone to watch my Bentley boy last minute and she was the perfect match! Very communicative and sweet. He came home nice and tired lol thanks to her doggy for all the wonderful play time ! I definitely will be rebooking with her! Highly recommend! 💙”

“Keith did a wonderful job with our samoyed Teddy when we were out of state on vacation! He sent adorable daily pictures showing he was doing well and loved by his entire family. Would definitely book again!”

“Julia seemed very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable leaving my dog for a week in a new place. She was very flexible with pickup and drop off and sent photos during our stay for updates. Would absolutely recommend”

“Ashley was great with our little Yorkie and our little guy enjoyed playing with Ashley's sweet Iris. We received frequent photos and video updates. We were able to relax knowing that our dog was in good hands.”

“First time leaving our pup with someone else...we were so glad we chose Bryan. He was very accommodating and kept us updated with texts, photos, and videos! Highly recommended, will most definitely utilize his services again.”

“Melanie was fantastic with my dog, Monty. I enjoyed receiving multiple updates and lots of photos to let me know he was doing okay. I highly recommend using Melanie.”

“Shaina and Imogen were great! We had a last minute booking and she was super accommodating. Finley loved her time over there! Will definitely be booking with her in the future!”

“Amazing as always! Lindsey is great at making our dog Roscoe feel at home and loved while we are gone and we can tell that he loves it there. Lindsey is such an amazing sitter with such a great environment for any pet.”

“I was leaving Olive for the first time at Lucy’s house and was so nervous! She made me feel so at ease by sending photos, videos and updates throughout our entire trip! She also is helping us train Olive not to jump as much! Olive had such a great time playing with new friends and fell right asleep when we got home! We already booked Lucy for future trips! Thanks Lucy!”

“Jackie and Enoch were great with Mia! Mia had a blast with their pup, with plenty of space to run around and a cozy home to rest after all the fun. They provided plenty of pictures/updates and we're always quick to respond. We would happily have them watch Mia again!!”

“I highly recommend Sonya and her family for pet sitting! I recently left my dog, Macario, with them while I was away camping for several days, and they took excellent care of him. It was clear from the updates and photos that he was comfortable, well-loved, and treated like part of the family. When I picked him up, he was happy, relaxed, and clearly had a great stay. They were easy to communicate with, responsive, and genuinely cared about making sure both Macario and I felt comfortable throughout the experience. As a dog mom, having peace of mind while you're away is priceless, and that's exactly what they provided. I'll definitely be using them again in the future. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Macario!”

“We had a great experience leaving our Aussidoodle, Willie, with Cynthia and her sweet lab, Luna. I received numerous pictures and was happy to know Willie had a very large, fenced in yard for roaming and exercise. Cynthia treated Willie like her own and gave positive feedback about his stay. I won't hesitate to request Cynthia for future boarding.”

Gabbi was amazing with my rescue dog! He struggles being in new places and she was so understanding and patient with him. Gabbi administered his eye medication just as I asked and he looked great when I picked him up. My dogs stayed with Gabbi over the 4th of July and she was ready to help them through the fireworks. She’s just a great person and I would totally recommend her. She’s definitely my go-to for future boarding needs!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
