“We couldn’t have been more pleased with Christina’s care of our dog, Fern! Just an overall great experience! Fern had so much fun she didn’t want to come home. We were gone for two weeks, so the pictures that were sent every day were very much appreciated. Christina and her husband have a fantastic approach and clearly a deep love of dogs. We will definitely be coming back.”

“So communicative!! If I need to board my cat again, will definitely be requesting her!! She made this whole experience of me having to board my cat for the first time so much easier!”

“Polly had a great time with Raven during a recent trip. Polly is a senior dog with issues and medication including eye drops. Everything went great and I'm sure Polly will enjoy her next stay.”

“Ivy stayed with Rachael and Joe for 6 nights, the first time she has stayed with anyone but family. They took such good care of her and sent us photos and videos every day! About: My wonderful dog passed away last year. I miss him terribly but any pet that comes into my house will be very spoiled by the attention he or she will receive from me. I have a part-time job with fluctuating hours & days. But I have plenty of time to give to watching your pets , always home in the evenings. I have a clean fenced in backyard. Pets can roam my whole house! My in home boarding consists of letting pets roam about my house. A great yard fenced in for dogs. Pets are free to lay on my sofa or bed. I love giving them affection and talking with them!

“Francie made the onboarding process, booking and arrangements so easy. She clearly cared about my dog and sent frequent updates on his status (how much fun he was having in her large yard and how many cuddles she was sharing with him). Highly recommended. Thank you, Francie!!!”

“We appreciated Nana taking on Mowgli for a few days. She always kept us updated and welcomed Mowgli to her home. I appreciated the pictures and detailed updates throughout his stay. Mowgli was very happy since he got to play a lot and was very well taken care of.”

“Linda was conscientious, enthusiastic, and so loving with our dog. It is nice to know your dog is not only being taken care of but also being cared for and enjoyed! We will be booking her again!”
“Copper had a wonderful stay over the holiday weekend! She was incredibly responsive and kept us updated with messages and lots of pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was obvious Copper was well cared for and having a great time. We came home to a happy, relaxed pup, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We would absolutely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable sitter!”

“Keri was so wonderful to welcome Mica into her home. Keri is flexible, accommodating and very responsive. The video, picture and updates I received showed Mica comfortable and happy. Thank you, Keri! If we’re back in the area, would love to have Mica stay with you again.”

“Laura was amazing with our boys all week. She sent lots of pictures and videos and was very patient while they adjusted to a new place. Already booked her for our next trip!”

“Jennifer’s place is like a home away from home for my furbaby. She gets super excited every time we approach the street and she has a blast on every visit. Jennifer’s love for dogs really shines through.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
