“Mitch was very communicative and on point with drop in visits for my cat Comet. She can take some time to acclimate to new people and she warmed up to him pretty quickly! Would happily book with Mitch again.”

“Riley was fantastic with my puppy, Pearl! Pearl is always excited to see her and Riley goes above and beyond to help with paying and reinforcing good training habits, I highly recommend her!”

“Amy was quick to respond and was available when I made my request at the last minute. This is the second time Amy has watched my cats and I will happily ask her to cat sit again.”

About: I have loved dogs since I was a kid! I recently have been working as a nanny and that has involved light care for pets as well, my current duties are walking the two dogs and feeding them treats and filling water bowls. I am very loving and caring. My previous job involved feeding and letting the pup out in the back yard to play and to help keep track of certain habits due to the dog having food allergies. I am so fond of animals as a whole that my future goal is to buy a house with lots of land and do free lance dog boarding! I would love to help your family with your pet’s needs! Hope to work with you soon!

About: I have 3 adopted best friends. I have experience with dogs of all different ages and temperaments. I love going for walks and hikes with my pups. I work full time in healthcare which makes me unavailable 3 days a week. My schedule varies week to week but I am more than happy to help you on my off days. I have a fenced in yard that my 3 furry friends love to run around and play. My senior dog gets multiple walks a day. Dogs are allowed on all of my furniture but will follow any house rules provided.
About: When I was younger I took care of dogs for a few different people and later on helped take of my families pet cat for around two years. I’m currently unemployed and saving for college so my schedule is pretty flexible at the moment. I’m open to most hours and am available any day of the week. When I had my families cat I’d make sure any food he couldn’t eat didn’t drop on the floor and I’d make sure he had clean water/clean food. I’d brush him and stuff like that. When I was dog sitting I’d take them for walks, when we were home I’d make sure they’d eat and are comfortable.
“Emil is super flexible and always willing to help! He’s easy going and took my pup and kindly watched her for my first week of work. It was hard to leave her, so I appreciated all his help!”

“Megan was great looking after my cat and took initiative to even clean up after my cat made a mess in the litter area. She is thoughtful and proactive when issues occurred. Great sitter, would definitely book with her again.”

“Tessa was amazing! She was very communicative, always showed up on time and got along so well with our cat. I would definitely recommend and hope to use her again!”

“Lindsay is honest, communicative, reliable, and so wonderful with our two high energy dogs. Each weekend, she confirms with us which days she is able to let our dogs out, and has been so flexible with our chaotic schedule. Clearly Lindsay is great with dogs— even our shy pup quickly warmed up to her as we saw in her check-in photos. We are very grateful to have her as our walker and cannot recommend her enough!”

About: I’ve lived with a dog my entire life, I am 22 years old and just graduated from WVU and recently moved to Charlottesville. In December of 2022 we rescued a dog that was not great with people but now is anyone’s best friend! I’ve learned how to deal and manage dogs like that and love dogs of all sizes I work 8-4 but Monday-Friday but am more than happy to help any other times before or after work and including most weekends! I do not plan on having dogs at my house, but I am more than happy to come to you and help you in your home!
“Dakota went above and beyond while we were away! He was communicative and was wonderful to the dogs! Most certainly would love to have him come again!”

“Cecilia did such an amazing job taking care of my cat Moon. She did everything I asked and more. She took pictures at every visit and treated my home and cat with the utmost respect. If I ever need a sitter again there’s no question I’ll call Cecilia!”

About: I’ve been dog-sitting for three neighbors for over five years and have also provided cat care. I own two Great Danes and previously had a cat, so I’m comfortable with large breeds, daily routines, and attentive care. I’m patient, experienced, and confident caring for both energetic pets and seniors. As a college student, I plan my pet care around my class schedule and have plenty of availability outside of class times. I’m free most mornings, evenings, and weekends. My classes are spread out during the day, which allows me to provide consistent check-ins, walks, feedings, and quality time while still maintaining a reliable routine for each pet. I provide care exclusively in my clients’ homes, where pets are most comfortable and routines stay consistent. I prioritize safety by carefully following all care instructions, securing doors and gates, and maintaining a calm, clean environment. I respect each home and communicate regularly with updates so owners feel confident their pets are safe and well cared for.
About: I have had pets since I was a child. I have always owned a dog. Neighbors, friends and family have called on me frequently to care for their pet. I take Flash with me every where I can and when I can’t I want him well taken care of. I love to help people enjoy their time away by giving their pet the best care possible. I work part time. I get up early and never mind doing early morning or evening pet care. On my days off I can walk during the day. I would be willing to walk your pet, feed and allow time outside for play. Can stay at home for several hours if needed on occasions.
“Danielle is amazing! She is extremely professional and communicative. She met up with me before the trip and took great care of my cat, Ellie. Ellie can be shy and cautious of new people but Danielle took her time and gave her lots of love, space, and patience. Can’t wait to book with her again!”

About: I have a large family dog that I have been responsible for since I was about 10 years old. She has since gotten older so I have experience with a senior dog and giving any sorts of medication (and the peanut butter necessary to get her to take it). I am no stranger to having to clean up any accidents in the house so that is a non-issue for me. I am also open to taking care of other animals like rodents or turtles or other cage creatures. I am a true and passionate animal lover! My schedule is very flexible at the moment. I am happy to give as much or little time needed for the pets. I can figure out any scheduling and details necessary with clients. I am never loud coming into a home. I always let the pets come to me unless they are hiding on purpose. I take care instructions very seriously and will follow everything exactly and will reach out if I have questions about the best way I can care for your fur friend.
“Chelsea is great! She checks in before her scheduled time to figure out details. She sends pictures and updates, which puts my mind at ease. She even checked in on the day I was returning to offer and extra drop-in in case I was getting in late. I really appreciate her kindness!”

Shaylee went above and beyond in caring for my pets while I was away for work. She made sure they stayed clean and dry while we had several days in a row of rain. She provided great feedback every day, ensuring I knew my fur friends were in good hands. She even took extra time to check in on my chickens and make sure they had shelter from the weather. I am so thankful to have such a great person available to look after my animals!

Madelyn was amazing with Baxter and Bentley when we had to be out of town for a few days. She stayed in touch with me and sent me great photos after each drop-in visit. She even came over to meet them and me before we left town. I was super impressed and so thankful for how happy our dogs were while we were gone. I can’t recommend her enough!
Cayden is thoughtful, communicative, trustworthy, and responsible— we were so grateful to have had him as our rover for a short period of time! He took great care of our pups, and kept us updated on how each visit went. We look forward to booking him again when he is back from school!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
