I will be shadowing at the vet 3 days a week, but only until 1pm. On those days I am free in the afternoon to check on your pets! Most weekends, along with days I am not doing that, I can set aside time to come see your pets:)

A typical day
Again, I will do whatever your pet is used to! Whether that’s a long or short walk, chilling on the couch, doing training exercises, playing in the yard, etc.

Pet care experience
I’ve been walking dogs and doing check ins for family pets since middle school! I am currently a pre-vet student at JMU, but I spend my summers home in Earlysville. I would say this has been a “serious” job of mine since I started highschool. I’ve spent a few days a week for the past few summers pet sitting. I’m new to the app because I’ve been so lucky to have a lot of regular clients, and was then recommended to their friends. I’m just trying to expand my client pool as much as possible:) I have 3 dogs of my own, and one of them lives with me in my college apartment. I’ve had dogs all my life, but I also currently shadow at a vets office, work with the animal health team at the RHSPCA, and volunteer at the VA wildlife center. I absolutely love all animals and would be thrilled to meet new furry friends!

Shaylee went above and beyond in caring for my pets while I was away for work. She made sure they stayed clean and dry while we had several days in a row of rain. She provided great feedback every day, ensuring I knew my fur friends were in good hands. She even took extra time to check in on my chickens and make sure they had shelter from the weather. I am so thankful to have such a great person available to look after my animals!
The truth about Shaylee, our pet sitter: If I could no longer care for my pets, and had no choice but to give them to someone else, I’d make sure they land with Shaylee or someone like her. She’s dependable, for sure. She arrives on time to feed, walk and administer medications (and texts us pictures, too). But I think most pet sitters can check that box. What makes her special is the readily apparent goodness in her heart, and how it moves her to do what it takes to make our pets feel loved. For example, knowing that thunder makes our dog quite anxious, when a bad storm was in the forecast, Shaylee planned her day so that she could comfort her until it passed (well over an hour of “extra” time). Shaylee is one of the special ones!
Shaylee comes from a family of pet lovers, and that is definitely evident when you meet them. She has taken care of our two dogs on a number of occasions, and she never fails to send us pictures of them on walks, loving life. She is reliable about coming on time and being sensitive to the needs of our dogs. Shaylee is in college now with a goal of furthering her education to become a veterinarian. She will be a good one. I would not hesitate to hire her to work at Rover. She is a rare find.
We had a wonderful experience with Shaylee as our dog sitter! She is reliable, trustworthy, and clearly cared for our dog like her own. Communication was great while we were away with regular updates and photos/videos that gave us complete peace of mind. We came home to a happy and well cared for pup. We would absolutely have Shaylee dog sit again.
