“Andrew was incredible with our dog Nabu, Anatolian Shepherd. Nabu is a large dog and needed someone to handle walking him. Andrew came on time for each walk and gave Nabu extra time and attention. He gave detailed report cards for each visit that included descriptions and photos. This is our first time using Rover and Andrew and he immediately made us feel comfortable and showed us he is a dog lover! We appreciate the care he gave Nabu so much! You can’t go wrong with Andrew was our experience!”

“Madison walked our dog for the first time today. She was great—on time for our meet-and-greet yesterday, and timely in her communication, from initial request to post-walk feedback. I will definitely book her for future walks!”

About: Hi! I’ve been pet sitting for about 5 years, starting with walking neighborhood dogs and growing into house sitting and boarding. I’ve also had dogs my whole life, so caring for them comes naturally to me. I’m experienced with different sizes, personalities, and energy levels, and I always make sure every dog feels safe, comfortable, and loved. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or sticking to their routine, I treat every pet like my own and give them plenty of attention and care! I’m a college student with mostly online coursework, so I have a flexible schedule and am home often. I also care for my two fur babies daily, so pet care is already a big part of my routine! I’m available most days, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends, and I’m happy to work around your pet’s needs. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I provide a clean, calm, and loving environment where pets can feel at home. I have two friendly dogs of my own and always make sure introductions are done safely and at a pace that’s comfortable for everyone. Since I don’t have a fenced yard, I keep dogs active and engaged with regular walks around my neighborhood and supervised time outside. I always follow your instructions closely, stick to your pet’s routine, and provide updates and photos so you can feel at ease while you’re away!

About: I’m a dog owner of a 4-year-old German Shepherd with epilepsy and an 8-year-old Beagle. Caring for my Shepherd has given me hands-on experience administering medication on a consistent schedule, monitoring for seizures and staying calm and responsive if one occurs. My dogs are also decently trained, so I’m comfortable reinforcing basic commands and maintaining structure. Having two completely different types of breeds also gives me experience with a different energy level and the attention to both of their different needs. Together they’ve taught me how to balance exercise, rest, mental stimulation, and individualized care for dogs of different sizes, ages, and temperaments. Being a military veteran I am also reliable, and consistent. I have lived with dogs all of my life and love meeting all kinds of different breeds. I’m happy to follow your routines closely, send regular updates and photos, and provide the calm, consistent care that helps dogs feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I’m currently on terminal leave from the military and will be starting my graduate program soon, with classes only on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This gives me a flexible schedule with plenty of free time on the other weekdays, evenings, and weekends. I’m available for sitting, and walks most days and can easily adjust around my class times to provide pet care. I’m experienced with dogs of different sizes and temperaments and will follow your routines, medication needs, and any special instructions closely. I can crate when needed and always prioritize supervision, safety, and lots of positive interaction so your pup feels comfortable and well cared for.

About: I've had animals since I was a child and have taken care of them all of my adult life. I have personally fostered over 75 dogs through to their adoptions! I'm a trusted caregiver who can handle animals of all sizes, ages, abilities and temperaments! I love getting to know each animal's personality and how to best take care of them! With several dogs and a cat at home, I am always in pet care mode (and know how important it is to find a trusted sitter). Whether it is a drop-in or a boarding situation, I treat each pet like they are my own. (Also, our cat has his own "wing" of our home so he is not interacting with any visiting dogs.) We have two friendly, large dogs, Tennessee & Tucky who have been foster brothers to over 75 dogs of all sizes and ages. Having fostered so many dogs, I recognize that each animal is unique and I enjoy getting to know their individual personalities and how to best care for them. Whether the animals are in my house or their own, I will follow the owners' instructions and manage expectations so there are as few surprises as possible. I know how worrisome it can be to leave your pet(s) in the care of another, and I pride myself on making sure the animals are taken care of and enjoy themselves.
About: With over 40 years of experience caring for animals and people—including work as a veterinary technician and a retired CNA/caregiver—I provide dependable, detail-oriented care you can trust. At Denney’s Den, dogs enjoy doggy Airbnb-style stays in my home- a calm, cozy, low-stress environment where they’re treated like family and given personalized attention while away from their hoomans. I also offer drop-in visits in your home, ensuring your pets receive consistent, compassionate care in the space they’re most comfortable. Since retiring from healthcare, caring for animals has become my full-time work. I am home most days, allowing me to provide hands-on attention, supervision, and a calm, structured routine for the pets in my care. My home offers a calm, safe environment with a large fenced yard and two friendly dogs. I intentionally limit the number of boarding dogs so each pet receives personalized attention. Crating is used only if preferred by the owner. For drop-in visits, I take great care to respect your home while ensuring your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine.

About: I have been a dedicated animal lover for as long as I can remember, beginning my journey at age twelve with a neighborhood dog-walking business. Having owned both dogs and cats for most of my life, I am comfortable with breeds of all sizes and temperaments. I recognize that every dog is unique; for instance, my own Boxer’s love for "tug" has certainly kept me on my toes and built my strength! While I am confident in my ability to bond with almost any animal, I prioritize transparency above all else. If I ever feel I am not the perfect match for your pet’s specific needs, I will communicate that immediately to ensure the safety and well-being of your dog. Professional Availability & Approach: I have recently moved back to the Hickory area and am open to taking on new clients. I prefer to discuss your specific needs and expectations upfront to ensure we are a mutual fit for a successful partnership. My philosophy is that a walk should be much more than a bathroom break—it is a vital source of fresh air, exercise, and mental stimulation. Whether your dog loves playing with a favorite toy or requires consistency with basic command training, I am happy to integrate those needs into our time together. I look forward to meeting your pet and building a meaningful bond. I have open availability right now! I am ready to take any dog or cat and meet with new clients we my availability has opened . My approach to drop-in visits is centered on environmental continuity and specialized feline safety. Because I only provide care within the client’s home, I ensure your cat’s or dogs routine remains undisturbed while prioritizing the security of your property.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
