“Chiara was so sweet and attentive of our pups. Went over and beyond to make sure they were taken care of. Will definitely ask Chiara again to help with our pups.”

About: I've loved animals my entire life and grew up with dogs, cats, and horses. I've had my Australian Shepherd, Cooper, for the past 10 years. I got him as a puppy and trained him myself, so I've gotten to experience all the stages of having a dog, from puppy years to grumpy older man. I also used to pet sit on Rover and other platforms several years ago, and I'm excited to be back! I'm looking to spend my fall biking around the city, getting outside, and hanging out with some sweet dogs along the way. It feels like a great way to make some extra money while doing the things I love most! I can do drop-in visits and dog walks any day of the week! I work from home most days, and my personal schedule is flexible. I'm also open to overnight house sitting on a case-by-case basis. As a dog owner, I understand how important it is to have someone pay attention to your pet's routine, personality, and quirks, and I'm always happy to send updates and photos so you know how they're doing. I'd rather overcommunicate than leave you worrying about how your baby is doing. I will follow all of the instructions you leave for me, and I'm always happy to meet up before we book to make sure we're a good fit! I want to make sure you and your pet(s) feel comfortable and safe!
“Erin was very sweet to my three kitties and made sure they were taken care of each day! She shared pictures of them each day and gave me updates which were very sweet!”

About: I love animals and honestly consider getting to hang out with someone’s pets one of the best parts of house sitting. I’m patient, attentive, and more than happy to spend plenty of time playing with them, keeping them company, feeding them, and sticking to whatever routine they’re used to. I know every animal has their own personality, so I’m also completely happy giving shy or independent pets their space and letting them warm up to me at their own pace. I’m also an EMT (one of the guys in the ambulance), so I’m used to being responsible, staying calm in unexpected situations, and paying close attention to details. While that obviously doesn’t replace veterinary care, I think those skills carry over really well when someone is trusting me with both their pets and their home. I have experience caretaking for snakes, lizards, bunnies, hamsters, guinea pigs, and my favorite animals are chinchillas! I’m currently a graduate student taking my classes completely online, so my schedule is extremely flexible. I’m home most of the day studying anyway, which means your pets won’t just get a quick morning and evening visit, they’ll actually have someone around to hang out with them, give them attention, and keep them company throughout the day. I’ll treat your home and pets with the same care and respect I’d want someone to give my own. I’m happy to follow whatever feeding, walking, medication, crate, or household routine you normally use rather than changing what your pet is comfortable with. I’ll also keep you updated while you’re away, and I’m always happy to send pictures because I know I’d want the same reassurance if someone else were watching my pets!
“Sophie is wonderful with my cat. Sophie is easy to communicate with, conscientious, and provided such cute photos while I was away. My cat just adores her. To provide a bit of context, my cat (female) has an underlying health issue and I felt she was in excellent hands while I was away. I plan to use Sophie again in the future.”

“Samantha was great! I made a last minute booking and she was so efficient throughout the process. I also have an asthmatic cat and she was able to administer his inhaler for me. Will book again!”

“We had an amazing experience! Our cat, Juniper, was so well cared for while we were away, and it made our vacation so much more enjoyable knowing he was in such good hands. We received lots of photos and updates, and it was clear he was happy and comfortable the entire time. It was such a relief coming home to a happy, relaxed cat. We've already recommended her to our friends and will absolutely be booking with her again. Highly recommend!”

About: I was originally pre-vet and also worked kennel technician jobs, so I have years of experience with dog/cat pet care and medicine administration. I am comfortable caring for any age of pets. I am currently working full time Monday-Friday from 7:30-4. I work from home Monday and Friday, so I have more flexibility those days. I am free every Saturday and Sunday. I also get all holidays off, and am usually available those days/holiday weekends. My apartment complex has a dog park area and I have a personal fenced back area. It is mostly concrete but has some flower beds. I have a cat in my home, and he has been tested with other dogs/cats and keeps to himself. He can be closed off in my room if needed. There is also a guest bedroom that has nothing of importance in there, so if there’s a situation where you’d prefer a safe quiet space for a potentially anxious pet, that should be perfect. I can cater my space to your pet and will give them all the love they want.
“Chloe was amazing for our first time Rover sitter! She was great taking our dog out for a good walk everyday and even took pictures of our cat while she was there! We would highly recommend her!”

“Dan was fantastic watching our 1 year old English lab Azalea. We scheduled him for a series of drop in visits, he was right on time for each one, communicated frequently, shared pictures, and took great care of our girl. We will be booking him again in the future!”

About: I’ve been fostering dogs since 2021, which has given me experience caring for dogs with all kinds of personalities, routines, and comfort levels. Fostering has taught me how important patience, consistency, and creating a safe environment are—especially when a pet is adjusting to a new person or place. I’m also a cat mom to my cat, Sammy, so I have hands-on experience with both dogs and cats. I understand that every pet has their own personality and needs, whether they want lots of playtime and attention or prefer a little extra space to warm up. I treat every pet like I would my own and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owner is away. I’m also happy to provide plenty of updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing! I work remotely and have a very flexible schedule, which makes it easy for me to fit pet care into my day. I’m able to accommodate different schedules and can usually be flexible with visit times depending on your pet’s normal routine. Since I’m not tied to an office schedule, I can give your pets the time and attention they need without having to rush through visits. For drop-in visits, I do my best to keep your pet’s routine as normal and comfortable as possible while you’re away. I’ll follow your instructions for feeding, fresh water, potty breaks or litter box cleaning, playtime, and any other care your pet needs. I’m also happy to spend time giving them attention and cuddles or simply keeping them company if that’s what they prefer. I’ll always respect your home, make sure everything is clean and secure before I leave, and send you photos and updates from each visit so you know your pet is happy and cared for!
About: Hello, I’m Fern (Magdalen) I love animals, I find them to be the most pure little buddies. I have experience with leash pullers and dog reactive dogs. I have experience with cats with medical needs such as administering pills, ear drops, ointments and syringe feedings. I find that pets respond best when you speak to them like they’re human. I enjoy sticking to routine with pets and I ensure pups get plenty of stimulation! I work Mondays through Thursdays 7am-5:30pm. I work remotely Mondays and Wednesdays. I am available to house sit Fridays-Mondays. I am available for walks Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends. Depending on distance, morning and midday walks are tricky unless I am house sitting. I pay attention to the animal’s needs. I tend to talk to the pet as if they were a person. I find animals respond well to it and it helps establish trust. I enjoy playing with both cats and dogs. Extra enrichment when the owner is away is key to help relieve pent up anxieties. I love long walks with dogs. I am good with routines and adhere closely to the guidelines set by the owner.

Jacquelyn did drop in visits with my pug for 3 days while I was in Atlanta for a conference. She is extremely reliable and responsible and my pug, Moki, just adored her! They went on walking adventures and I got the cutest pics and updates. I wish Jacquelyn lived closer as she would be my number one choice for a pet sitter! I highly recommend!!! And Moki does too. :)

Michelle was great with my cat, Scottie. Since I booked her pretty close to the scheduled visits, we only had time for a meet and greet by phone, but things went great regardless. She was very attentive to my (many) instructions and got along well with Scottie. I would definitely hire Michelle again!

Enakshi was so wonderful! I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for my first time using Rover. My cat, Maverick, LOVED her. She was so gentle, kind, and loving with him. Enakshi provided consistent, detailed updates so I felt assured that Maverick was getting the best care while I was away for a week. I will definitely be booking Enakshi again!

We always have one less stress during a trip when Meagan is able to check in on our cats. She takes outstanding care of them, provides great photos and updates, and was nice enough to take our trash out on her last visit prior to our return, so our apartment didn't smell like empty cat food tins. Always a trusted sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
