About: I have had and lived with cats and dogs my entire life. I am more knowledgeable and most comfortable with cats, but I have experience taking care of dogs as well. I have experience with administering medicated eye drops, ear drops, and I know how to clean up after pets. I have experience with cats of all ages. I am a current graduate student at Western Carolina University getting myself through the summer with any odd jobs I can acquire. I am also working on my research, so I may be called to work in the lab on WCU's campus on random days. I am not able to take in pets to stay with me, as I live in an apartment complex that has a strict pet policy, and I also have my own pet cat in my space. When visiting pets in their home, I will respect their space and read their body language so as to not make them uncomfortable.

Isabella is INCREDIBLE! So communicative, kind, and caring. She provided updates and adorable photos of our animals each day we were away. She was also kind enough to tend to some of our plants! I was able to rest easy knowing our home and its inhabitants were in her care. I would definitely recommend Isabella for anyone’s fur babies and intend to book her again!

About: I had the wonderful opportunity to have pets (the majority being doggos) since I was four! I truly just love being around animals! I sadly can’t have any animals in my residence now hence why I am here, I do want to say that I will do my very best to make sure any pets are well taken care of and loved when I am pet sitting! I am looking forward to future opportunities!! As of right now my schedule is pretty open, especially with summer coming up. Mornings especially but, we can always speak further about that when figuring outs dates that are needed for sitting. As of right now, when I visit back home to see my mom I help her with our two dogs, Sandra and Zeus. I also help out with our chicks. My biggest thing is just communicating, if there are specific ways an animal needs to be looked after I am very willing to help I just would prefer we talk about it extensively, as well as making a list of priorities for the pets.

Tia did an absolutely outstanding job caring for my three German Shepherds. Anyone who has experience with the breed knows they require attentive, confident handling; and Tia delivered exactly that without missing a beat. My pups were fed on schedule, exercised regularly, and taken out for bathroom breaks consistently throughout their stay. Clearly, Tia took their routine seriously and treated them with genuine care. What really set Tia apart was her communication. She sent photos of the pups playing outside, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. She also asked thoughtful follow-up questions about their care before I even had to bring anything up. This kind of proactive attention to detail tells you a lot about a sitter's professionalism and dedication. I will absolutely be booking with Tia again and would recommend her without hesitation to any pet owner, especially those with large or high-energy breeds. My fur babies were in great hands!

About: I am a biology student at WCU focused on ecology, so I absolutely love animals. I’ve grown up with dogs and cats, but I also have experience with exotic animals. I’ve been dog walking and pet sitting for over 5 years, and it’s always been my favorite job! I work flexible part time jobs, so I am available both mornings and evenings, as well as weekends with notice! My current flexibility also allows for more daytime pet care, such as walks or check-ins. I have lots of experience with overnight pet care, and I know that trust is a big part of an animal feeling comfortable with a stranger in their space. I’m very calm and relaxed when I first meet an animal to give them space to come to me :)

Ellie did an amazing job watching our home and caring for our dogs while we were out of town. I have a dachshund who is extremely picky on who she likes, and she absolutely loved Ellie unlike any other dog sitter we have seen. She is extremely communicative and we will absolutely be reaching back out to her.

Dixie and her husband took care of my 5 mos old puppy for 7 days. They took care of Kirby like he was theirs. At one point Kirby had a bad night( anxiety from his parents leaving) and her husband stayed up with him most all night just trying to keep him happy and make him feel safe I will definitely use them again. Dixie stopped by a few days later to pick up something she had left and Kirby went crazy when she came in. He was very excited to see her and was jumping all over her so I would take that as his seal of approval too.

Megan was an absolute PRO! Not only did she take perfect care of our dog Duck, she went above and beyond and took care of scooping cat litter that we told her we could take care of when we got home. She gave us lots of updates during her stay, administered medicine to our dog, and made sure everyone got play time, plenty of food and water, and snuggles. Megan is the best! If you are looking for someone to make sure your pets are taken care of while you are away, look no further.

About: Growing up I’ve always owned dogs and I love taking care of my own dog who has high needs. I love walking dogs and always enjoy seeing new dogs roaming about. I have a very open schedule, and that is why I was ready to start with Rover to kind of control my own scheduling. My week is open for plenty of dog walks or dropping visits for pets. I am excited to start working with you. I have one dog and two cats. I walk my dog at least five times a day. She is a terrier and needs extra exercise. I have two cats who are indoor. I change their litter box weekly and scoop it daily. Keeping a good hygiene for cats is extremely important for your home so I value that very much. My pets names are Oreo for my dog Millie and pumpkin on my cats.

Ro was a fantastic sitter! She stayed at our house, watching our two dogs and cat. One of our dogs can be nervous and anxious. Ro did a great job following that dog's lead on if she wanted walks or not, and she was there for her during a big storm. Ro was communicative and shared daily updates on how everyone was doing. I could tell in every photo and video that my animals were comfortable and well taken care of. She kept our home clean and clearly followed our house "rules" that we had discussed before the sitting visit. She even left us the cutest photos of our fur-babies. I would 100% book Ro again. Knowing she was with our animals helped me relax and enjoy our trip.

About: I grew up with pets which ranged from dogs to cats to chickens to a horse. I currently have a 8 year old Boxer and 1 year old cat who I rescued from a shelter! I would love to have a goat farm one day and be able to do goat yoga. I enjoy being around all pets, especially dogs. I think that all animals are special and deserve to be treated with lots of love. As a pet sitter/walker, I can come visit with your pet to provide food/water, playtime, walks, any other care that is needed to support your pet(s)/family and provide lots of love! After our pets are family. I work full time at a school but school is out so I have more time to spend with your pets as well as my own! I can crate your pups if preferred. I can walk your pup and send you updated photos on how they doing! I will provide your pets with lots of love!

About: Cats just seem to know I’m “one of their people.” 🐾 I’ve spent years caring for cats of all ages and temperaments — from playful kittens to wise seniors. I’m patient, gentle, and tuned in to their needs, whether that’s playtime, quiet company, or a little extra care. I’m also comfortable with the not-so-glamorous side of cat care: deep-cleaning litter boxes, keeping food and water fresh, and making sure meds are given on time. My goal is always to create a stress-free, cozy environment so your cat feels safe and happy while you’re away. I work part-time with kids and in a coffee shop, which gives me plenty of flexibility to care for your pets. If I can be trusted with little ones, you can feel confident I’ll give your furry (or feathered!) baby the same love, patience, and attention. I make time every day to ensure pets feel safe, cared for, and happy — just like family. Whether I’m in my home or yours, my top priority is always your pet’s safety and comfort. I always ask about your safety policies, routines, and preferences so I can follow them closely — from feeding schedules to favorite toys and safe walking routes. Every pet is unique, so I make sure their care is tailored to their needs while keeping their environment secure and stress-free.

FAQs for House Sitting - Dillsboro

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Dillsboro on Rover is $32.1 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of June 2026, there are 143 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dillsboro. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dillsboro walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dillsboro maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dillsboro choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dillsboro. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
