“Everything about my dog’s stay was excellent—Colby and David have a well-organized approach to Rover stays, which gave me peace of mind from the meet and greet to pickup. I usually travel with my dog, and I haven’t been away from him this long before (10 days), so while he’s pretty easy-going, I wanted him in capable hands because I’d be across the country. I got frequent photo and video updates, and didn’t realize how reassuring the video clips would be. I could relax and enjoy my trip knowing my dog was happy and playing, so don’t underestimate the value of those check-ins. They also have a turf area for the dogs that won’t get muddy or too dusty depending on the season, and they are alert to dog body language and temperament enough to accurately predict if dogs will get along. My dog loves to play with other herding dogs, so them having a frequent herding dog visitor was a treat for my pup. Communication was timely and they were flexible when pickup and drop-off needed to shift a little. They are a homeschool family, so someone is usually home except when the kids have activities. That’s a major reason why I prefer to board with a family—a lot of kennels leave dogs unattended overnight, which I find unsafe. Knowing he’s home with a family puts me at ease. While no emergencies happened while my dog was there, they are the kind of people you’d trust to do the right thing if need be. Even though they live about 30 minutes from me, I will definitely board with them again and recommend them to my friends. They clearly love dogs and enjoy having them around. If I lived closer, I’d definitely consider some daycare visits so he could get some more play time. Even if they cost a little more, it’s 100% worthwhile for the peace of mind, and I say that as someone who doesn’t have extra money.
