“Megan was great house sitting with our young dog. She came to meet him prior to accepting the appointment, arrived on time and kept us informed with pictures throughout the day. We were very pleased.”

“Alex did a great job with Chip while I was out of town. It was clear he gave Chip lots of attention and gave him plenty of exercise. Alex was also very communicative and provided great updates!”

“Heather was wonderful to have stay with our girls while we were out of the country. One needs a bit more care now and we worried about leaving her. However, Heather had no problem providing them with everything they needed while we were away. She was great with communication and our house was just as we left it.”

“Merissa is a wonderful sitter and we are extremely happy with the care she provides! We have a few senior animals with special food and medical needs, and she made sure to follow all our instructions and kept us updated throughout her stay. She makes sure all of the animals are well-exercised and stimulated. We already have our next sit booked with her and highly recommend her as a responsible and thoughtful sitter.”

“Haley did an excellent job house sitting my five year old miniature schnauzer. Haley kept me informed throughout the weekend with messages and pictures of my pet. My dog made fast friends with Haley and looked to be very happy! I would 100 percent recommend Haley for pet sitting services! 😊”

“Ashley was great to work with! We came back to a happy pup and kitty. Our house was tidy after her 3 night stay. She was communicative and sent a photo update. She also brought in a bunch of unexpected packages we didn't think were due to be delivered. We would book with her again!”

“Jessica was a wonderful dog/house sitter for my 3 yr old Boxer Lucy. She truly allowed me to relax and not worry while I was on a long trip away from Lucy. She also took great care of my house, including watering my plants along with other tasks that were a great help while I was away. Thank you for your great care!”

“Kevin did a fantastic job house sitting with Igloo for the day! He even went out of his way to come meet Igloo a couple days before so that she would be comfortable staying with a new person in the house. He kept us updated with photos during the day. It was great being able to have the day to ourselves and not worry - we would definitely have him back again!”

“Shantalee was great! We reached out at the last minute and she was very understanding. She took great care of our 3 dogs and was very communicative. She kept them happy and comfortable. We will definitely be booking her again!”

“This was our first time having a sitter watch our pets in our home, Natasha was so great and made us comfortable during our entire time away knowing our pets were getting the care they needed. Thank you again so much!”

“Madalyn is a true professional! She recently cared for our two Newfoundlands for a night where her knowledge of large breed dogs was essential. She communicated frequently with us and kept us updated with pictures. We have been seeking a consistent caregiver for our pups and we have found her!”

About: Hello! I am 32 and a lifelong dog & cat mom. I currently have 1 big dog and 3 cats. I have been dog sitting for friends, family, and clients for as many years as I can remember. I’ve been an animal lover since I was old enough to know what an animal is. I’m comfortable walking large and reactive dogs, administering meds, cleaning litter boxes, and any other services you may need. Feel free to send a message to see if I would be a good fit for your fur family I work on weekdays from 8-4 pm, so I have plenty of time in the mornings and evenings to give your furry friend loads of attention and exercise. I love going on walks and stay pretty active as well as wake up early, so I’m able to walk your dogs as far as they like to go. I walk dogs at my side, and not in front of or behind me to avoid any dangerous or reactive situation that could come up, and I of course make lots of pit stops for sniffing around and photo opps
“Haylea stayed with our 13 year old dog for 5 nights. Since we are both retired, it was especially important to us that our dog have a lot of company as she is used to our being home. A big plus is Haylea works from home 4 of 5 days a week and was able to be with our dog a lot. Haylea texted photos and kept us up to date on how our fur baby was doing. Highly recommend her!”

“Patrick was amazing! He was so kind and responsive to my cats and my dog! He sent my partner and I lots of updates and communicated with us. I would 100% books again!”

About: I had over ten dogs growing up, both large and small, and have had three cats. All have lived to an old age and had a wonderful quality of life! Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Delmar
Jessica was wonderful. Our first day out one of our dogs got sick. Jessica took excellent care of him. Told us what was happening and kept us informed throughout the day on his progress. He couldn't have asked for better care. Our other dog, feeling left out really took advantage of the older dog not feeling well and stole all of Jessica's available time. Jessica was awesome with both of them and our adapting instructions. We would not hesitate to ask Jessica back to watch our dogs.

Natalie was terrific with our dog Luna, cat Charlotte, and our unexpectedly brooding chickens!! She made us feel completely relaxed knowing our pets and home were in reaponsible hands, while we were far from home, which is the most important thing. We highly recommend Natalie.

Eydid did an amazing job house sitting and pet setting my elderly cat Simone for nearly 3 weeks, while I was on honeymoon. He routinely sent pictures and videos and even spent the night a few times to give Simone night time cuddles, which she loves so much. She was in the best spirits I’ve seen my cat after being gone for so long I am recommending him (and Valeria) to all of my friends

Barbara was incredible at looking after my cat, Maggie. She was super communicative and Maggie was clearly so comfortable around her from the moment they met! Maggie takes medication twice a day so I was looking for someone I can trust and Barbara exceeded my expectations. She is excellent!

Alison took excellent care of our two Border Collies. She was very responsible in that she arrived promptly, contacted us with any questions concerning their care & sent us photos of them during the visit. She was friendly to us & our dogs, who responded well to her. We will definitely book her again.
Yesenia was amazing with Blurry and River. She took great care of their physical needs as well as their emotional needs by petting and playing with them throughout the day. Yesenia also did a fantastic job keeping me updated on any issues as well as sending me regular pictures and even videos of Blurry and River during her time caring for them. She followed all directions for my fur babies and was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Yesenia to care for anyone's pets.

I left my dog Fiona in Sophie’s care for three full days, but I came home to a happy and calm dog. This is because Sophie provided care, attention, and fun. She spent time with Fiona and took her on long walks - Fiona’s favorite. I highly recommend Sophie and plan to use her again to care for Fiona.
On a holiday weekend, at the last minute, Lynne jumped into the frail. Showed up without a Meet-n-Greet, and the dogs loved her. Like children with a new babysitter—they were on their best behavior. So all went smoothly and we were allowed to relax and do what we needed to.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Delmar walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Delmar maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Delmar choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Delmar. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
