“Jordana was wonderful with my cat! She took great care of him and I felt good knowing he was in good hands while I was away. I will definitely look for Jordana the next time I go out of town!”

About: I've been watching the pets of friends, relatives, and neighbors since I was about 18. I've given insulin to both dogs and cats during my time pet-sitting. I currently own and care for two very spoiled female guinea pigs. During the week, I work full-time with a hybrid home/office schedule. On the days I am in the office, I do leave at mid-day to finish my workday from home. I can be available for bathroom breaks all throughout the day and go on walks/play with your pets in the evening. I work from a laptop, so I have the ability to relocate my workspace if necessary. I am able to provide all-day availability on weekends. Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors that need to be accounted for. I currently have experience taking care of furry ones of all ages and medical conditions.
About: I have a house where I can provide individual or group care for dogs. I co-own a dog named French Fry, who has been a significant part of my training experience. I am available for boarding on weekends, starting Saturday morning and continuing until either Monday or Tuesday evening. Additionally, I have availability during certain holiday periods. I have a partially fenced-in yard and a metal crate available for dogs if needed. I follow any instructions that pet owners provide. I have a peace and calm environment for dog care.
About: I've lived with and cared for dogs for my entire life; I love all animals, big, small, young, old and anywhere in between, the more animals the better! I have experience with dogs, cats, rats, hamsters, and fish and I get along with all of them. I am available for early mornings and late nights as well as weekends. I am also familiar with and unphased by the less glamorous sides of pet care, I don't mind cleaning up after puppy accidents, I have some experience grooming our shaggier four legged friends, and I know how to administer most puppy medications. I work from home so my availability is wide open for whatever you and your animals need. I am an extremely active person so there is no limit to much I will love and play with your pup, but I will also be patient and sensitive to nervous dog and cats. There is no puppy personality that I don't love. I can't wait to meet your dog! I work remote Monday - Wednesday. I also have weekends and evenings available for more involved activities. When im not pet sitting i like to take my own dog for hiking/ camping adventures! A typical day starts with breakfast and a nice romp around the yard, or brisque walk around the neighborhood so your dog can go potty and get out some morning energy. I have a flexible schedule at work so i can take frequent breaks to play and attend to your critters needs. In the evenings, im free again and i like to spend time being active, whether its a long walk, a game of fetch, or even an adventure to the park
“Marcelle took wonderful care of my cats while I was away. She is very responsible and follows through on all directions. So thankful to have such a great pet sitter close by!”

“Cyndal was wonderful! She sent pictures and looked after our sweet girl. She even stayed a little longer to make sure she drank enough water after their walk. Will definitely be using her again when we go out of town.”

About: I'm a lifelong animal lover from Wilmington, Delaware, and after retiring from 34 years in education, I decided to follow my heart and spend more time with animals. I've had all kinds of pets over the years—dogs, cats, even horses—so I know just how much they mean to us. As a pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to have someone reliable, kind, and caring looking after your pets (and your home) when you can’t be there. Whether it's a walk around the block, playtime in the yard, or just some company while you're away, I'm here to make sure your furry family members feel safe, happy, and loved. I am retired after 34 years in education and have a flexible schedule that can meet your pets daily needs- morning, noon or night. Additionally, I have lived in the area my entire life so I am very familiar with the neighborhoods. I will visit your pets as requested. They will be walked responsibly and I will ensure they have fresh water and treats if allowed. If requested I will bring in the mail and any delivered packages.

About: I’ve taken care of all sorts of pets in my own home including dogs, cats, birds, and a few reptiles. I love taking my dog to the woods for long walks (anywhere from 5-15 miles) so you can count on me not to slack on your pets needs. Every time I take care of someone else’s dog, I tire them out with my long walks and they always love it. I just recently graduated from high school and am looking for a summer/gap year job. My days are usually filled with going to the gym and walking my dog so pet sitting is easily integrated into my schedule. I am available to take care of pets in my own home as long as they can get along with my dog, although I would prefer house sitting since I live with my parents and two siblings. I have a fenced in backyard and a front yard that my dog likes to hangout in on a lead. I can follow any feeding/walking schedule and rules surrounding your pet. Additionally, I am a pretty organized person and can keep your space clean and well maintained while house sitting. I hope to hear from you soon and I’m super excited to provide my services!!
About: I grew up with rabbits and various small pets. My first dog, Toto, was trained by me in elementary and middle school. Now, I spend my evenings caring for others animals whenever possible! I work 7:30 am to 3 pm as a teacher! My day does allow for a mid day visit, distance depending! Free every evening for walks and lots of attention! Experienced with crate trained dogs and more free range styles. Love building trust with animals and keeping their days typical and calm while their owners are away!
About: I have taken care of my family dogs and relatives dogs for over 6 years and I am very responsible and caring for all types of pets! I am a full time college student with a flexible schedule and am available every day except Saturdays during the day. I am willing to find times that work for me and the pet owner. I care for my dogs by daily walks/play time in the backyard and constant attention. I can give my clients dog(s) the same love and care as I do my own.
“Heather does a beyond excellent job of taking care of our older dog with separation anxiety and special needs. Would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and responsible pet sitter.”

“Olivia watched my two dogs during my wedding day. It was such a relief to have her there since I was gone for so long that day. She was very responsive to messages and updates, which is important when I only had a second to check in during the night. She was able to handle both dogs (which can be a handful) and took them for nice long walks. They were exhausted by the end of the night. Thanks so much Olivia!!”

About: Back home, I rescued and cared for several dogs while helping them recover and find loving, responsible families. I have always felt a deep connection to animals and enjoy spending time with dogs of different sizes and personalities. I learn quickly and follow instructions carefully to ensure each dog feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. My goal is to treat every dog as if they were my own, prioritizing their happiness and well-being. I work part-time and online, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to adapt to each pet’s routine and needs. I am available throughout the week and can provide regular attention, potty breaks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I understand that consistency is important for pets, and I do my best to maintain their usual schedule so they feel comfortable and secure while their family is away. I personally prefer house sitting because pets are often happiest and most relaxed in their own familiar environment. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, feeding schedule, preferences, and any special instructions provided by their family. My goal is to keep their routine as normal as possible while providing attentive, loving, and reliable care. If needed, I may be able to host pets in my apartment on a case-by-case basis, but my primary focus is providing care in the pet’s own home where they feel safest and most comfortable.
About: Hello! My name is Lily, and I have been taking care of pets for nearly 12 years. I adopted my first dog over 11 years ago. She had a lot of trauma from before we adopted her, and so have other dogs we have adopted, so I have plenty of experience with anxious “problematic” pets! I have owned 4 rescues in my life which all had their own quirks, and I have also watched dogs and cats for many people in my community. I have watched puppies and senior dogs who need help going to the bathroom. I have watched cats with three legs, cats who always get out, and even lizards! I absolutely love animals and I would love to get to know you and your fur babies. Message me if you have any questions! I’m currently working full-time in Wilmington DE, but unfortunately in this economy that’s not enough! I am available early in the mornings (before 8am), at lunch time, and after 5pm for walks and visits. I can do overnight stays as well, and I am always available on the weekends! Everyone has their own particular preferences for their pet. Some allow pets on furniture or in the bed, and some exclusively use a crate. Some dogs may love walks, while others prefer to run around in the backyard. I have worked with many different owners and pets and I will adjust to whatever is best for your pet! As for me personally, there is a wonderful dog park near my apartment that I take my dog to almost daily, she loves it! She doesn’t love walks and prefers to run around freely, and it allows her to play with other dogs and socialize! Every dog has different needs and I will make sure to meet them.
The median cost per visit for dog sitting in Claymont is $20
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Claymont
Great experience. I have two dogs that cannot get along and are isolated from one another. Don’t hate me but they are rescues. Z managed to feed them let them out with no incidence. Z was respectful of my home and I never let a person here without me. Z took care of my babies like Z’s own. Highly recommend.
Lily was so responsible and sweet with our dogs. We couldn't have left our precious pups in better hands and she was so conscientious in feeding them, walking them, taking photos, and even administering medication. We were so reassured by her responsible and thoughtful updates and hope that even more people will get to experience her wonderful service in future!

Marissa is exceptional she took our 7 day appointment last minute and was very understanding and communicative. We were very skeptical at first using a service one to watch our puppy and two having someone coming in our home while we weren’t there. Marissa communicated every day as well as sent pictures. She definitely went over and beyond with our puppy “Buddy”, She bathed him, took care of his play pen area as we would. Im very thankful for Marissa and clearly Buddy enjoyed her as well.

From a Husky Owner: Finding the right dog sitter is crucial for a Husky owner. Huskies are known for their high energy, need for consistent training, and strong prey drive. Therefore, Ryan was highly appreciated! He understood that a Leo needed more than a just short walk by automatically volunteering an extended walk tailoring to include vigorous exercise allowing my dog to burn his energy. The ability to manage leash manners and maintain attention, even with distractions, was impressive, as Huskies can be very independent on walks. Ryan asked about Leo’s training leash techniques and reviewed modeling the leash behavior. In addition to physical activity, Ryan showed commitment to mental stimulation for Leo. Puzzle toys and an intense play session kept Leo’s mind occupied, which helped prevent any destructive behaviors that can arise from boredom in Huskies. Training commands were also reinforced consistently, which is important for this breed. There was also excellent communication from Ryan during my time away! Knowing that Leo was well-cared for, happy, and engaged made my trip more relaxing and worry free! I’d highly recommend Ryan as your next dog sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
To find sitters in Claymont with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.
