“I was nervous to use someone I’ve never met to dog sit while I was out of town because I’ve had a bad experience in the past, but Noah restored my faith! He was so good with my babies and took excellent care of them while I was gone. They just loved him!!! Will definitely rebook when I’m out of town again!”

“Phia was AMAZING!!!! The complete package in pet sitting and house watching!!! She walked the pups, played with them, fed them and picked up poop!!!! She also tidied up the house. Which was completely of her own kindness. Will absolutely book with her again!!”

“You can trust Bella. She was super communicative and so organized. She even kept a journal of how many treats our 3 babies got. Our house was in better shape than we left it. Our flight got significantly delayed and Bella stepped in and stayed an extra night and took so much stress off a stressful situation. So grateful we found her. We will definitely have her take care of our house and animals again.”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs ever since I got my puppy at 14 years old. Aside from that, I have taken care of family members animals for weeks at a time! I love animals (dogs especially) and love going on walks with them and playing inside/outside! I will take amazing care of any dog no matter the size or age. I don’t currently work full time so I would be very flexible and easy to communicate with! Working with your schedule specifically would be very easy for me! I don’t have the amenities to care for a dog overnight at my house because I have a small yard. But I would love to care for them at your house, or just go on walks!
“Chelsea is absolutely phenomenal! She jumped in last minute when I needed a sitter while on vacation. She immediately bonded with my dog and he fell in love with her. He can be anxious and overly excitable, but he felt comfortable with her right away. She made it possible for me to have an enjoyable outing with my family and not be worried about Odin the whole time. I can't say enough good things about her, I highly recommend her!”

“Bo did a great job with my two dogs and a turtle when I had to go out of town for a few days. She treats them like they are her own pets. She is very kind. She left my house as clean or cleaner than when I left. She is great at communicating and giving updates. I will definitely be using her again!”
“Loarann was amazing!! This was my first time using in-home boarding so I was nervous but she was so sweet and so communicative. I never once had to worry or wonder what was going on which is huge for when you go on a trip that’s stressful enough! I honestly think she left the place better than she found it and was so kind about my house being kind of a sight these days because of renovations. She seems to truly love animals and I will 100% use her again in the future, no question.”
“The main point was how well the dogs were taken care of. They seemed happy and well taken care of. They weren’t in distress in any way, and we received a couple pictures of them while we were away, which was great! There were a couple things we took issue with, specifically with the house.”

“Madison did awesome with our two dogs! She sent picture updates throughout the week and I could tell they were having a good time. When we got home the house was clean and tidy just how we left it and she even washed towels she used and took out the trash. This is the first time we have ever had someone watch both of our dogs together and the next time we go out of town we will definitely be contacting Madison!”

“Rabia was a wonderful sitter for Sunny while I was away. I immediately felt comfortable with her from our first conversation and a sense of ease knowing my dog and home would be in good hands while I was away. She was an exceptional sitter as well as house guest. I will definitely be calling Rabia in the future for my next trip away.”

“Excellent! This was our first time using her as we are newer to the area, and we are very picky on who stays not only in our house, but who also takes care of our fur children. She followed all of the directions perfectly with feeding schedules, bathroom instructions, playing times, and left the house spotless! She sent us updates and pictures every day - our cat even came out for her and he never comes out for anybody! Highly recommend!!! We even rebooked her for later in the year :) THANK YOU!!”

“Dawn does a wonderful job of caring for our 3 boys. We love having her as their sitter. She provides excellent communication, which gives us peace of mind while we are away.”
“Renee sent great updates and loved my babies like her own! I was so lucky to have her so last minute on a holiday weekend but I could see from pictures how happy and safe they were with her!”

About: I’ve had pets my entire life, and for the last 7 years, caring for dogs has been a constant part of my daily routine. While I don’t have formal animal training, I’ve raised and cared for dogs of all ages, including puppies and senior pets. My background working with young children taught me patience, attentiveness, and how to create a calm, safe environment — all of which I bring to every walk and visit. I treat each pet like my own and pay close attention to their unique needs and personalities. Whether your dog loves long walks, quiet companionship, or a little extra care, I’m here to help. I work full-time during the week, but I’m available for early morning and evening walks, as well as weekends. If your pet needs a little extra attention before or after your workday—or reliable care over the weekend—I’ve got you covered. Whether I’m visiting your pet in your home or taking them out for a walk, I focus on creating a calm, safe, and familiar experience. I stick closely to your routines and instructions—feeding, playtime, walks, or just quiet company—whatever helps your pet feel most comfortable. I pay close attention to body language and behavior to make sure they’re feeling their best. I believe in gentle care, clear communication, and treating every animal like they’re part of the family.

Maghen is a phenomenal and caring sitter. She was professional, kind, and communicative from the very first message. This was our first time leaving our dogs for the weekend, and Maghen made us feel secure in the fact that they were being well cared for. She sent lots of photos and consistently checked in. You can tell she really loves animals and was an overall joy to have around. Our dogs loved her, so we will definitely be booking with her again in the future. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy sitter. Thank you Maghen for everything...you really exceeded our expectations!

Bella is absolutely incredible! We could not have asked for a better dog sitter. From the very beginning, she was professional, caring, and genuinely invested in making sure our Jazzy felt happy, comfortable, and loved while we were away. She kept us updated with frequent messages and adorable photos, which gave us complete peace of mind. Bella treated Jazz like family, and that means so much to us. When we returned home, he was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. It’s not easy to find someone you can trust with your pet, but Bella exceeded every expectation!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cantonment walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cantonment maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cantonment choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cantonment. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
