“Maya watched my two cats when I went on a 10 day vacation. She came for 2 visits a day! My cats adored her. I came back and they are both just as happy and sweet as when I left!”

“Kenny was fantastic! He took such great care of Peanut during the drop-in visit and walk. He was punctual, very communicative throughout, and sent lots of photos, which gave us real peace of mind. It was clear Peanut was well cared for and happy. We really appreciated Kenny's professionalism and reliability, and we wouldn't hesitate to book him again. Highly recommend!”

“Chantal responded super quickly when we were left stranded by another (non-Rover) pet-sitter. We were so appreciative!! She sent us videos of the cats while we were away and it made us (me especially) feel much less nervous about leaving the cats - we have two. One of our cats is super nervous and hides when any new person comes into the house, but she made fast friends with Chantal!! Honestly - it was such a relief to have someone really caring come in and care for the cats.”

“Gen has been doing drop-in visits for my two dogs on the days I’m in the office, and it has been such a relief knowing they’re in great hands. She shares updates after each visit, complete with pictures, so I know my pups are getting exercise, care and attention while I’m away 💕”

“We had such a great experience with Bohdana! She sent wonderful photos and videos that really put me at ease while I was away. My cat clearly got lots of playtime, attention, and pets, and it showed how happy he was. I'm so grateful for the care and would absolutely book again!”

“Keely was so attentive to my cat doing drop-ins this weekend. He has been feeling off and not eating and Keely found ways to encourage him to eat and was so in tune and caring for his needs. She also takes the extra time to take him outside on his leash because she knows how much he loves it. I appreciate how much care she puts into her visits and also sends thorough breakdowns so I know how things are going.”

“Gabriela took wonderful care of our three cats while we were away. One of our cats needed oral medication, and another required blood glucose checks and insulin injections. She was attentive, reliable, and kept us updated throughout our trip with regular messages and photos, including the blood glucose checks. Our cats clearly loved her, and it gave us great peace of mind knowing they were in such capable hands. We would absolutely book with Gabriela again and highly recommend her!”

“Jamie was AMAZING with our cat George. From the many pictures and videos she sent after every visit it was clear that our cat loved his time with Jamie. They were fast friends and she was so communicative throughout our trip.”

“Lydia was very communicative and went above and beyond to ensure my cat was well taken care of while I was away. I would definitely recommend Lydia for anyone looking for a cat sitter!”

“Alyssa made sure to keep me updated on my cat's food, litter, and play/cuddle habits throughout the week I was gone. She kept my mind at ease and made my first experience with a pet sitter super comfortable! I will definitely reach out again whenever I'm out of town!”

“Rebeca has been great with spending time with my cat Buffy! Despite my cat being a bit timid and reclusive, Rebeca was very patient and made a lot of efforts to engage with her and win her trust, and was enthusiastic with sharing her experience with me.”

About: I have never known a life without dogs and cats in my family. I have cared for dogs of all ages and sizes. I volunteered with my local shelter to walk adoptable dogs and attended training lessons with my own dog. I have experience giving a dog a bath and could even go on a small jog with a dog if desired. I love going for walks around the neighbourhood and miss being able to bring my dog down to the lake. I would love to give some attention to dogs in the Ottawa area whose parents are out for the day. I have a few online classes throughout the week, but my afternoons are fairly open, and I'm looking for something to fill that time. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have early mornings and evenings, whereas on Mondays and Wednesdays, I have the entire afternoon available. I am very cautious about locking doors and leaving things within reach of dogs, and I can get dogs into crates if required. I have a small apartment, so I would not be looking to bring animals here, but I am a very responsible and organized individual.
About: For the past few years I’ve been a pet sitter for friends and family. I have experience with small and large dogs as well as cats. As a runner I love active dogs ! I have a full time job (8-4) and work remotely on Wednesdays. I am available evenings and weekends to spend time with your animal. I always do my best to be accommodating and can provide lunch time potty breaks if your pet is close to my office. I am a respectful and clean pet sitter. When I dog sit in a family’s home I am conscious of the environment I’m in and care for the animals as well as cleaning up after them and myself.
The median cost per visit for pet sitting in Ottawa is $25

Isabelle was absolutely amazing. I felt so grateful that she was looking after my cat while I was away. She’s reliable, responsive, and caring. I am definitely going to be rebooking Isabelle to look after my cat next time I’m travelling. Thank you for everything!

Sana is an angel sent from heaven. I was in the hospital and had to book with no notice. Sana showed up for my cats every day of my hospitalization and sent me photos, which gave me life. It’s clear they absolutely adored her. She’s also the nicest human and stayed in communication the whole time and wished me a speedy recovery. Gave me absolute peace of mind that the cats were well looked after and allowed me to focus on my health!

Stephanie looked after our energetic German Shepard Chelsea for three days. She took the time to come and meet us beforehand. She did a great job making sure that Chelsea was fed, watered and walked during two daily visits. Stephanie sent pics on each visit and kept us up to date with short reports on every visit. I would definitely recommend her.

We’ve used Shayla a few times now, and we are always so thrilled with her! Most recently, she looked after our cat while we were away on our honeymoon, coming to our home twice a day for an entire week. It gave us such peace of mind knowing he was in such caring and reliable hands while we were away. Shayla is incredibly dependable, attentive, and genuinely caring. We never have to worry when she’s looking after him, which is such a great feeling when you’re travelling. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and wonderful pet sitter. We’ll absolutely continue using her in the future!

Siera did a fantastic job taking care of my senior bunny. She was very diligent in mastering the details of administering both of his medications and was very patient in ensuring she got it right. i came home to a very content rabbit. I would highly recommend her!

Our cat is quite anxious, so honestly, we weren’t even expecting to get photos of her not hiding under the bed haha. But we were so happy to see that she was relaxed around Sarah and even let her pet her. Sarah gave us clear and timely updates throughout the visits, and communication with her was very comfortable. When we came back, we found our home clean and most importantly, our cat was friendly and didn’t seem stressed at all. We would be very happy to have Sarah look after her again!

Keely was so attentive to my cat doing drop-ins this weekend. He has been feeling off and not eating and Keely found ways to encourage him to eat and was so in tune and caring for his needs. She also takes the extra time to take him outside on his leash because she knows how much he loves it. I appreciate how much care she puts into her visits and also sends thorough breakdowns so I know how things are going.

There are 1,438 sitters on Rover for Pet Sitting in Ottawa. About 86% of Ottawa sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.
Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.
A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.
Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a Ottawa stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.
Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover based on what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ottawa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
