“Gordia is wonderful with Hazel. She is very nice, reliable, and has great communication. I trust her to care for my pup the way I do, and will definitely keep booking with her in the future!”

About: I have never known a life without dogs and cats in my family. I have cared for dogs of all ages and sizes. I volunteered with my local shelter to walk adoptable dogs and attended training lessons with my own dog. I have experience giving a dog a bath and could even go on a small jog with a dog if desired. I love going for walks around the neighbourhood and miss being able to bring my dog down to the lake. I would love to give some attention to dogs in the Ottawa area whose parents are out for the day. I have a few online classes throughout the week, but my afternoons are fairly open, and I'm looking for something to fill that time. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have early mornings and evenings, whereas on Mondays and Wednesdays, I have the entire afternoon available. I am very cautious about locking doors and leaving things within reach of dogs, and I can get dogs into crates if required. I have a small apartment, so I would not be looking to bring animals here, but I am a very responsible and organized individual.
About: I have experience caring for dogs of all ages and sizes. I have cared for multiple animals at once as a farm/ acreage house sitter in Saskatchewan. I recently moved moved to Ottawa to complete my masters. As a part-time student, my schedule is quite flexible and I update my calendar regularly. I am often available throughout the day and evening to accommodate your schedule. I am respectful of other’s space and privacy. I pride myself on being accountable, clean and organized. I treat animals with respect and care while maintaining boundaries.
“Maya watched my two cats when I went on a 10 day vacation. She came for 2 visits a day! My cats adored her. I came back and they are both just as happy and sweet as when I left!”

“Rebeca is amazing! My cat is very shy and she was able to develop trust and get her to spend time with her. I could relax knowing that she was my cat sitter. She timed the visits very well due to some wild weather. I will be hiring her every time I go in holiday. Thanks so much for taking good care of Punko.”

About: For the past few years I’ve been a pet sitter for friends and family. I have experience with small and large dogs as well as cats. As a runner I love active dogs ! I have a full time job (8-4) and work remotely on Wednesdays. I am available evenings and weekends to spend time with your animal. I always do my best to be accommodating and can provide lunch time potty breaks if your pet is close to my office. I am a respectful and clean pet sitter. When I dog sit in a family’s home I am conscious of the environment I’m in and care for the animals as well as cleaning up after them and myself.
About: One of my favourite times in life has been living with 7 dogs and as you can imagine this experience has given me some expertise with dogs. I have lived with newborns, puppies, adults and senior dogs and have also dog-sat & walked dogs of every ages and sizes. I am currently working part-time so I have time to spend hanging out with your pet/s. I am also excited to spend lots of time walking and being outside in general. I am flexible and will adapt to any structure you have set for your dog/s. Unfortunately I don't have much space so I am unable to take in pets in my home but I am happy to adjust to your convenience.
“Kenny was incredibly thoughtful and attentive to every detail in caring for my kitten. He’s intuitive and respectful in his interactions with her, and professional and thorough in his communication with me. I couldn’t imagine leaving my still relatively new kitten with someone else and feel very lucky to have connected with him through Rover. Will definitely seek his kitten care again in the near future.”

“Marisa is a very caring pet sitter. The cats loved seeing her everyday. She is also great at taking and sending amazing pictures of the cats and also very communicative. I will book her again!!!”

“Tanya-Ann and Enrique were very flexible and attentive to my two cats, ensuring each got the right diet food. They also went out of their way to return my key. Definitely recommend their services!”

About: I LOVE animals, and while I don’t have the capacity for my own pets right now, I get so much joy from caring for yours. I’ve been the go-to pet sitter for friends and family for years, and now I’m excited to extend that care more widely through Rover. I provide a calm, safe home environment with plenty of attention, cuddles, and enrichment. While I don’t have a yard, I make up for it with access to the canal and several nearby parks — perfect for walks and playtime. You can also expect plenty of photo updates so you know your furry family member is happy and well cared for. 🐶🐱📸 I adapt to each pet’s needs: whether your dog is older and prefers a quiet, cozy day with lots of pets, or high-energy and needs over an hour of walking and activity, I provide individualized care and companionship. The only other person your pet may encounter here is my boyfriend, who often stays over. He also loves animals (he grew up with a husky) and enjoys being part of the care and attention your pet receives. I do have a few regular commitments (the gym, swim class, errands, and three days in the office), so pets in my care should be comfortable with a few hours of alone time. Otherwise, they’ll have my full focus and affection. If you have any questions before booking, please reach out; I want to know what you and your pet need to feel completely comfortable entrusting me with their care. I work full time (8-5ish) but flexibily from home and the office. Early morning or late at night is best for me during the week for drop-in’s and walks and I am available on weekends for boardings and sittings! I provide pets with attentive, individualized care - giving them exactly what they need, whether that’s active play, quiet companionship, or space to relax. My home is a warm, calm environment where they feel safe and comfortable, with treats and enrichment always on hand. I’m also close to plenty of outdoor spaces, including dog parks, so pets in my care enjoy both exercise and relaxation. My rates reflect the personalized, one-on-one attention each pet receives during their stay.
“Jarmila was so great with Aila. The stress of leaving my puppy home alone for the first time had me so stressed but having Jarmila in twice a day to take her out and play was such a stress relief. Happy puppy!!”
“Katherine was great to agree to meet our dog, Rufus, and spend some time bonding with him in our home on such short notice! Rufus took a shine to her right away and was so calm in her presence! We have an upcoming house sitting booked with Katherine while we’re out of town, and we’re confident Rufus and our home will be in good hands.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ottawa
Claire looked after my cat for a week whilst I was away from Ottawa. First meet and greet he very much took to her. Once visits started she was very reliable, kept in touch and sent me photos each visit of him clearly content with life! Claire was lovely to deal with and I’d definitely book her again!

Billie was just the right level of attention and energy for my senior kitty, providing lots of brushings, treats and gentle petting! Pixie has special medical needs too, and I knew Billie would ensure her meds were all administered in a calm manner. And last but not least, thanks for the added bonus of your experienced plant care!

We had already boarded our dog in Francielly’s house, but this was our first time having in-house visits. Francielly was amazing as always! She send pictures everyday, followed the instructions and was amazing communicating about the health of our dog. We couldn’t be happier and I can’t recommend her enough for boarding and in-house visits!

Lydia did a PHENOMENAL job taking care of my cat, Elliott. He is a shy boy and she was so patient with and attentive to him. She gave me great advice on his diet, which really shows how great her veterinary experience is. She was excellent with communication and followed the instructions I left out perfectly. I couldn’t recommend her enough and will absolutely be booking again!
Sana is an angel sent from heaven. I was in the hospital and had to book with no notice. Sana showed up for my cats every day of my hospitalization and sent me photos, which gave me life. It’s clear they absolutely adored her. She’s also the nicest human and stayed in communication the whole time and wished me a speedy recovery. Gave me absolute peace of mind that the cats were well looked after and allowed me to focus on my health!

There are 1,467 sitters on Rover for Pet Sitting in Ottawa. About 83% of Ottawa sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.
Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.
A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.
Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a Ottawa stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.
Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover based on what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ottawa choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
