Availability
I work rotations in Nunavut, so when I’m on time off (minimum of two consecutive weeks a month), I’m typically available at all times. Mornings, afternoons and evenings. Weekdays and weekends. Occasionally I will not be available for twice daily visits (morning/evening). I may have a restricted service area on some holidays, or if an area is difficult to travel to.

Safety, trust & environment
I exercise caution when entering the home to prevent escapes. I strive to reduce stress as much as possible by assessing their body language and letting them set the pace for interactions. I ensure that all toys that must be put away when the cat is unsupervised are put away before leaving.

Any behavioural issues, aggressions of any type, any fears, any health issues, any allergies, if I can feed them treats. Anything else owners deem important, I will take note of.
A typical day
I’ll play with the cats with the toys indicated by the client, occasionally I’ll bring some new toys to try out. For longer sits, if I think they may like puzzle toys, I’ll bring one and use owner-approved treats in it to change things up a bit.

Downtown area cat sitter!
Pet care experience
Huge cat lover and experienced Ottawa cat sitter with 350+ Rover reviews since 2022. I specialize in cat drop-in visits. I also have experience caring for rabbits, rats, hamsters and some bird species. I currently volunteer for Nunavut Animal Rescue and Safe Wings Ottawa. I have short-term/emergency fostered (dogs, cats, rabbits) for the Humane Society and a cat rescue. Through fostering and rescue work, I’ve cared for shy, under-socialized and semi-feral cats and kittens and helped them build trust and confidence around people. I regularly volunteer for Nunavut Animal Rescue; my tasks vary from caring for a wide range of dogs from small to XL, from two weeks of age to senior, as well as kittens and cats. I help with everyday shelter operations, such as admin work, laundry, cleaning kennels, walking dogs, playing with the puppies, fundraising, etc. I love going for long tundra hikes with the more energetic rescue pups. Cold weather does not bother me at all. I have experience volunteering at spay and neuter clinics, as well as general vet clinics in remote areas. This has given me a variety of experience with more fearful animals, limited resources, first aid, medication knowledge, etc. I help transport dogs (and sometimes cats and rabbits) for rescues (Nunavut to Ontario), I’m responsible for them from drop off at the airport to arrival at destination, often including playing with them and walking them before boarding. I do building patrolling/monitoring for Safe Wings Ottawa during spring and fall migration seasons. I rescue injured birds for transport to rehabilitation facilities and I collect deceased window collision victims for our Annual Display. I collect detailed data from each collision for Safe Wings conservation advocacy; I’m also part of the advocacy team. I’m also part of a small team who catches and de-strings stringfoot pigeons on Bank Street, the ByWard Market and surrounding areas. * As of January 1, 2026, $1 from every confirmed and completed booking will be donated to My Grandfather’s Cat. The donation will be made in a lump sum on December 31, 2026. If you’d like to donate extra, I encourage you to check out their social media or contact me for ways to donate! -2023 donation went to Iqaluit Humane Society/Nunavut Animal Rescue: $128 -2024 donation went to Ferdinand and Friends Animal Rescue Network: $138 -2025 donation went to The HolliBell Foundation: $134 -2025 in memory of A, O and P: $50 to Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue, and $25 to Nunavut Animal Rescue -2026 in memory of P: $25 to Good Bye My Friend Fund (Clare Place) I grew up with cats, so I love doing kitty drop-in visits. I’ve also owned budgies and hamsters. I’m open to caring for other types of animals, please contact me to discuss! Certifications: * Certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. * Human St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid - CPR C & AED. * Can provide certificate proof, if requested. I’m comfortable recognizing early signs of illness or stress in cats and noticing behaviour changes in repeat clients, I will always contact owners if anything seems off. General: * I am fully bilingual French/English. * I do not feed raw food. * I will consider services outside my radius for an extra travel fee of $10 per visit/walk. * May take up to 4 hours to respond to messages on work (non-available) days due to the nature of my work. Cat drop-ins: * I do a daily scoop of the litter box, refresh the water every visit and feed as per instructions. I will send at least a couple photos every visit in the Rover card, typically more. * Unless a cat needs time-sensitive medication, visit times are scheduled within a general time window, rather than an exact time, to allow for travel, traffic, and other pet visits. * I can administer oral medication and insulin injections to easygoing cats. * I have experience with shy cats and most eventually warm up. If they’re shy, I feed them treats and I give them their space and sit in the same room as them for the remainder of the visit and play calming music. * For the more active and social cats, I’ll pet them, play with them, brush them and just generally interact with them for the remainder of the visit. I sometimes bring cat toys from home to change things up (wand toys, catnip toys, puzzle toy, etc). * Low additional cat rate ($4/cat).
