About: I have never known a life without dogs and cats in my family. I have cared for dogs of all ages and sizes. I volunteered with my local shelter to walk adoptable dogs and attended training lessons with my own dog. I have experience giving a dog a bath and could even go on a small jog with a dog if desired. I love going for walks around the neighbourhood and miss being able to bring my dog down to the lake. I would love to give some attention to dogs in the Ottawa area whose parents are out for the day. I have a few online classes throughout the week, but my afternoons are fairly open, and I'm looking for something to fill that time. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have early mornings and evenings, whereas on Mondays and Wednesdays, I have the entire afternoon available. I am very cautious about locking doors and leaving things within reach of dogs, and I can get dogs into crates if required. I have a small apartment, so I would not be looking to bring animals here, but I am a very responsible and organized individual.
About: For the past few years I’ve been a pet sitter for friends and family. I have experience with small and large dogs as well as cats. As a runner I love active dogs ! I have a full time job (8-4) and work remotely on Wednesdays. I am available evenings and weekends to spend time with your animal. I always do my best to be accommodating and can provide lunch time potty breaks if your pet is close to my office. I am a respectful and clean pet sitter. When I dog sit in a family’s home I am conscious of the environment I’m in and care for the animals as well as cleaning up after them and myself.
“Rebeca has been great with spending time with my cat Buffy! Despite my cat being a bit timid and reclusive, Rebeca was very patient and made a lot of efforts to engage with her and win her trust, and was enthusiastic with sharing her experience with me.”

“This was my first time using Rover, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience, especially thanks to Lydia. She took exceptional care of my cat Nyx and my dog Elijah, showing great attention to detail and genuine care for their well-being. Both of my pets were very comfortable with her, which gave me immediate peace of mind. She followed all of my instructions perfectly, and it was clear she treated them with patience and kindness. I especially appreciated the detailed reports after each drop-in. The daily pictures meant so much to me and really helped when I was missing them. Overall, I feel very confident in Lydia’s capabilities and would absolutely recommend her, as well as the services Rover provides, to anyone looking for reliable and compassionate pet care.”

About: I have been professionally caring for animals for two years, but I’ve been around pets my whole life. I’ve cared for dogs, cats, fish, turtles, and even farm animals. My experience spans from young puppies to senior animals, providing attentive and reliable care tailored to their needs. Pet care fits seamlessly into my routine as a student at Algonquin College and part-time swimming coach for children. My flexible schedule allows me ample time to play, walk, and pamper pets. I prioritize engaging with them daily, ensuring they receive plenty of attention and love while maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. I provide pet care exclusively in my clients' homes, allowing me to ensure their pets feel comfortable in their familiar environment. This setup enables me to stay overnight or for several days, giving the pets continuous companionship and care. I focus on maintaining their routines, whether it’s feeding, walking, or playtime, ensuring they receive plenty of love and attention while their owners are away. This approach helps reduce their stress and keeps them happy and secure.
About: I've cared for animals my whole life. I grew up with my Bernese Mountain Dog, who's been by my side since I was young, and I also have a cat of my own. On top of that, I regularly look after my girlfriend's cat, as well as my friends' dogs whenever they need a hand. Caring for animals isn't just something I do, it's something I've always done, and I genuinely love it. I'm a Human Kinetics student at the University of Ottawa and a varsity athlete with the Gee-Gees. Balancing the demands of student-athlete life has taught me how to manage my schedule effectively, and even with all that on my plate, I still make plenty of time to care for animals. On top of my studies and training, I also run my own sewing business, which reflects the same discipline and reliability I bring to everything I do. When I'm in a client's home, I always respect their space and follow their pet's established routine as closely as possible — sticking to their regular feeding times, walking schedule, and any specific instructions the owner gives me. I pay close attention to each animal's body language and comfort level, especially with pets I'm meeting for the first time, and I make sure all doors, gates, and leashes are secure before heading out or leaving them unattended. My background in Human Kinetics has also given me a solid understanding of how physical activity and rest affect overall well-being, which I apply to make sure every dog gets an appropriate amount of exercise for their age, breed, and energy level never pushing them too hard, but making sure they get what they need.
“Kenny sent lots of photos and gave me lots of updates of my cat’s mood and wellbeing. Kenny followed instructions and went out his way to make sure everything was good at my place and with my cat. Will definitely use him again in the future.”

“Mikhail is a magical cat-whisperer! I got lots of updates and pics and it was evident that my little Jerry was in very good hands. He doesn’t usually warm up to other people easily, but Mikhail won him over :) Profesional, dependable and kind, five stars!”

“Katie was absolutely amazing with our animals. She clearly cares for animals and it was evident in our report card, photos, and the care she gave our animals. As pet sitters ourselves it is important to us that we hire the best care for our animals and Katie was nothing short of that. She accommodated our needs on minimal notice, followed instructions perfectly, arrived on time, and gave excellent pet care. We have two animals that require pills and knowing they were in Katie's care gave us peace of mind. Thanks Katie for a great service and we will def hire you for our future pet sitting needs!!!!!”

“Michaela was wonderful as always! She is very accommodating and easy to organize with, and goes above and beyond to make my cat feel comfortable when I’m away. Can’t recommend enough!”

“Evan was very charming and sweet with my anxious dogs. He came for visits to help them get desensitized to having other people in the house. As I was also there at the time I found him a cheerful and amiable person to chat with as well. Would definitely recommend him!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Ottawa
This was my first experience using Rover and I could not be more pleased. I appreciate that Bianca was willing to arrange a meet & greet in advance which provided ample reassurance that my fur babies were in good hands. Bianca was responsive and communicative throughout the sitting, providing plenty of details about each visit along with photos. Her check-ins were always a bit longer than the scheduled 30 mins which demonstrates her level of service and care. I would certainly recommend Bianca to others and will book with her in the future. Thank you so much!

Taylor took care of our cat, Plume, for a week while we were on vacation, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Plume is a big tomcat with the personality of a lion. He's very reserved and usually keeps his distance from strangers. But with Taylor, this big tough guy turned into a little kitten looking for cuddles and affection. That alone says everything about how kind, patient, and caring she is. Thank you so much, Taylor, for taking such wonderful care of Plume. We would trust you with him again without hesitation and highly recommend you to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate pet sitter!

Alexa did such a wonderful job taking care of our two cats. She is warm and caring and it was so nice to not have to worry about our kitties while we were away. Her communication skills are excellent and she responds quickly to messages. We will definitely have her come again the next time we are away. I highly recommend her!

Kate has been an excellent cat sitter. She is always so fast to respond to our booking inquiries, she is receptive to last minute bookings, and we love the photos she provides of our cat, Charlie. She is diligent in visiting and taking care of our cat and very communicative. 5 stars, Kate!

Shayla was excellent and very communicative throughout the entire booking. I especially appreciated the daily notes and photo updates. Muffin is very shy, but she opened up, flopped, and played during the visits. Not only was Shayla great with Muffin, but she was also very respectful of my home and left everything clean and tidy. Highly recommended!!!

Went on a 2 week vacation and had to leave our cat alone for the first time since we adopted her. Sydney was great and took exceptional care of her. Came and visited the house every day to feed her and give her some attention. Was also very responsive to unexpected developments like the fall in air quality during the fires. Was very nice to know she was doing well and being well cared for while we were off in a different time zone.

Steph is the best. Super considerate while taking care of my cat who started showing sickness symptoms the day I was leaving town. Did a great job keeping an eye on her and keeping me updated on her state. Will continue booking with her whenever I go out of town cause my cat loves her and everything is always taken care of.

Lois is a reliable and trustworthy pet sitter. She watched over our cat Chloé for one week and provided absolute peace of mind. She was communicative, sending daily photos and videos with notes on how our cat was doing. She took good care of Chloé with her feeding and brushing and also watered our plants and flowers during her visits. I would strongly recommend Lois for your pet and will be booking with her again soon.

Laurie took excellent care of my cat while I was away. She was dependable, kind, and clearly cared about making sure my cat was comfortable and well looked after. She kept me informed throughout my trip, which I really appreciated. It was such a relief to come home to a happy cat. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Julia again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.

Julia was absolutely wonderful. She did an amazing job taking care of my cat while I was away on vacation. She kept me updated with photos and messages, which gave me peace of mind knowing my cat was in great hands. My cat was happy, well cared for, and comfortable when I returned home. I would highly recommend Julia to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and attentive pet sitter, and I would gladly book with her again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
