“Bee was absolutely great with Takaya! He and Vec had the run of the yard, were well-matched in energy levels, and Bee sent me lots of cute pics and videos of them playing and adoring each other.”

“Kristine was so accommodating… on a last minute booking. She welcomed Ruby with lots of love and enthusiasm. She sent us photos and updates which we we loved. Ruby was well cared for.”

“Danielle is wonderful! I trust her with my dogs completely and she has great communication around what she offers and expectations. She has a wealth of knowledge on dog behaviour and she applies it to support my dogs’ learning where it’s needed! She also sends updates on the day and even takes them on adventures, etc! Highly recommend! She has been a huge relief and help to me as a single working person!”

“Linda provided amazing care for my dog! Super helpful to deal with, accommodated my busy schedule, and my dog came back happy! Thank you so much for looking after my precious pup. I feel lucky to have found you, and will definitely be back again:)”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and currently care for 4 cats and a dog of my own, so I understand the daily needs, routines, and personalities of different pets. I genuinely love animals and treat every pet like family. I’m experienced with feeding, walking, playtime, and giving pets the attention and care they deserve, whether they’re energetic or more relaxed. I also offer boarding in a safe, comfortable, and pet-friendly home where your pets will get plenty of attention and care while you’re away. I work part time for myself from home, so I’m able to give pets lots of attention throughout the day. My flexible schedule allows me to stay on top of feeding times, walks, playtime, and check-ins, making sure pets feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I have 5 acres of space for dogs to explore and play, along with a fenced play area for safe outdoor time. I also have a friendly 2 year old lab to keep your dog company. I’m able to crate dogs if needed, depending on their routine, to make sure they feel safe and comfortable while in my care.
“We used Jessica to look after our pup Ruby for the evening. Really great experience, we dropped her off at their house and they took Ruby on a couple walks around their area in North Van. Will definitely use her again, and recommend and anyone use her services in the future.”

About: I have experience caring for dogs of different sizes, ages, and energy levels, and I’m comfortable adapting care to each dog’s routine and needs. I focus on calm, consistent handling and clear expectations, which helps dogs settle quickly. I’m attentive on walks, respectful of training cues, and comfortable supporting puppies as well as senior dogs. I follow care instructions closely, keep environments safe and structured, and pay attention to behaviour or health changes. You can expect reliable communication, thoughtful updates, and care that prioritizes your dog’s wellbeing while you’re away. Although I work full time, I have flexibility to work from home when needed, which allows me to build pet care smoothly into my daily routine. When working in the office I commute to Nanaimo, which means I can provide home care to pets from Shawnigan Lake to Nanaimo. I focus on creating a safe, calm environment for pets, both in my home and in clients’ homes. I stick to routines, follow instructions carefully, and pay close attention to safety on walks and at home. I’m respectful of clients’ spaces and keep things clean and secure. You’ll receive regular updates so you can feel confident your pet is well cared for.
“Amy is magnificent! I was a bit hesitant to put in a review as I want her available for my mutt! ;-) She is very calm and zen, loving, open and warm which was evidenced by our first meet and greet where she got on the floor and my girl just cuddled into her arms. She sent photos and updates without me asking and was flexible with last minute changes keeping Lily overnight. It is my Lily (the white French Bull Dog) that you will see on her sitter profile, and you can see for yourself how wonderful Amy is.”
About: Dear pet parents, over the past 8 years, I’ve been traveling the world as a full time house and pet sitter lovingly caring for dogs and cats across six continents. For me, a home without pets simply doesn’t feel like home 🐱🐶 Along the way, I’ve also regularly worked in animal rescue which has given me experience with anxious animals as well as administering medication. I'm currently living and traveling in Canada and would love to offer my services. Feel free to message me and I’m happy to share lots of positive references 🤍 All the best, Verena I am currently studying online and spend a lot of time at home myself, which means I can dedicate plenty of time to your pets. However, since I also love being in nature, I enjoy taking long walks and even longer hikes. I prefer to care for animals in their familiar environment, at your home, and I do my best to stick to their usual routines and daily habits, as I have found through many years of experience that this is what is best for the animal. :)
About: I worked at my local humane society back when I lived in Ontario where I was responsible for daily enclosure cleaning/maintenance as well as keeping an eye out for any unusual or concerning conditions. I handled the animals and made sure to give them some love while I could. It wasn’t my job to do that much, but I just love animals so much and that job brought me a lot of joy. Aside from that job, I’ve handled pets most of my life. I’ve had cats, dogs, and more personally for 13 years I had a conure, and for about 7 I had a rabbit. Because of this, I’m very experienced with birds and rabbits especially! I am great with cats too, but my household does have one. She’s an old lady that sleeps mostly and if needed can easily be kept away from any other animals. At home I currently live with a cat who belongs to my sister, but I am her auntie and spend tons of time with her and look after her in ways such as helping with her inhaler, helping clip her nails, brushing, and so on. If my sister is away for any reason, she is fully under my care. I have a spare room that is pretty well empty with just a guest bed next to my room in my house, and because I live with a cat with Asthma, I try to keep all spaces (especially that room) scent free. I also have no problem staying at a client’s place for a few nights if we’ve established some comfortability and familiarity. I don’t have supplies or enclosures on my own, so all that would have to be provided by the owner.
“Lindsey watched our dog and she was fantastic! Our dog is like our baby and she took great care of him! She was thoughtful in her caring responses of lots of pictures and videos and keeping us updated. She even provided the details of where they went walking! I would highly recommend Lindsey and I know we will be utilizing her amazing services again!”

About: I have had cats or dogs my whole life. I’d love to make your travel easier by caring for your beloved fur babies while you are away from home. I work from home and can rearrange my schedule during the day to stop in and take your pets out for potty breaks or a quick walk or cuddles. I don’t currently have pets in my home, so if your pets overnight here, they will have my full attention. I live in Sidney very close to walking paths and parks for walks and playtime.
“Tippy loved his stay with Heather. He's an active puppy and she was so good and patient with him. We appreciated the updates and pictures showing Tippy looking completely contented in her beautiful home and we felt very comfortable leaving him in her care. Thanks Heather and we will definitely be using your services again.”

“Criofan was great, we were travelling from Edmonton and decided to do a last minute Whale Watching Tour. Within 5 minutes Criofan responded and we had Luna booked in to play for the day. We really appreciated the late night pick up at 10pm, was flexible for us to enjoy our time in Victoria without feeling rushed. The drive was only 20 mins, but was definitely worth the drive, huge space for Luna to run with Albert. Really appreciated the messages after dropping Luna off, put my mind at ease that she was behaving. Highly recommend, we got back a happy tired pooch!”

“Rebecca was a dream to work with! I observed that my basset hound felt so secure with her right away, and returned back to me so happy and calm. It was a perfect fit. I really appreciated Rebecca's communication and responsiveness. We will definitely be connecting again the next time we are in town - sincerely could not have asked for a better experience!! Thank you!!!!!”

“Rachel was wonderful! It was our first time using Rover and we had a 100% satisfaction experience. We met with Rachel in advance of our booking, she was very responsive to our question and quick to respond every time we communicated. She introduced our 8 month old Toller to chickens, horses and cats with great success. A kind and calm sitter, we’d highly recommend her to others. Thanks for everything Rachel!”

“Amy took great care of my senior dog during a doggy care session. She was great at communication and provided updates while he was staying with her. I could tell my dog was very well looked after. I would fully recommend Amy to anyone looking for services on Rover.”

- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your North Cowichan commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in BC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
