About: 15 years as a cat owner, dog training experience, and medication skills. Can provide personalized, stress-free care with constant updates, genuine affection, and attention to routine. Will make sure pets feel safe, happy, and truly at home. Pet care fits seamlessly into my routine. I’m fully available on weekdays for walks, visits, and sitting, and I can provide attentive care before or after my 7–3 weekend shifts. I will care for pets in their home by keeping routines consistent - feeding, walks, playtime, and litter care. All while providing companionship and keeping the space clean. I also send regular updates and photos so owners feel reassured their pets are safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
“Jennifer was great. My cats are shy, anxious and hide when I leave the house for a long time. Jennifer was able to get them out of their hiding places, which reduced their anxiety. The cats were relaxed when I returned.”

About: I have experience caring for dogs of different sizes, ages, and energy levels, and I’m comfortable adapting care to each dog’s routine and needs. I focus on calm, consistent handling and clear expectations, which helps dogs settle quickly. I’m attentive on walks, respectful of training cues, and comfortable supporting puppies as well as senior dogs. I follow care instructions closely, keep environments safe and structured, and pay attention to behaviour or health changes. You can expect reliable communication, thoughtful updates, and care that prioritizes your dog’s wellbeing while you’re away. Although I work full time, I have flexibility to work from home when needed, which allows me to build pet care smoothly into my daily routine. When working in the office I commute to Nanaimo, which means I can provide home care to pets from Shawnigan Lake to Nanaimo. I focus on creating a safe, calm environment for pets, both in my home and in clients’ homes. I stick to routines, follow instructions carefully, and pay close attention to safety on walks and at home. I’m respectful of clients’ spaces and keep things clean and secure. You’ll receive regular updates so you can feel confident your pet is well cared for.

About: Hey all you Pet Parents! Leaving your babies with someone you don't know can be terrifying, and to be honest, I was never able to leave my baby in a daycare - So I totally know what you are feeling right now! I will make sure they know how much they are loved, and I will always send pictures and updates to put your mind at ease! Each and every fur baby is the most special, and I always make sure they know that. My name is Hanna and animals are truly my life. I have spent my entire life spending as much time as possible with ALL types of animals. For me, growing up it was Dogs and Horses... Not only was I completely obsessed - but I was also the neighbourhood dog walker/babysitter. We lived in a fairly safe area, and most people would let their dogs have free roam. That being said, if they ever couldn't find their dogs, they were usually hanging out with 5 year old me, in my yard, or my bed. I began volunteering part time in barns and stables at the age of 7 years old. Every weekend I was taking care of all the barnyard animals, sheep, pregnant cats, injured ducks, birthing cows, nursing horses - you name it. During this time I also volunteered at the local SPCA, playing and brushing all the animals, and walking the dogs. As I grew older, I became the go-to in my neighbourhood whenever pets needed extra attention. I had two dogs on my street alone that needed regular medical support, and their owners weren't fully comfortable administering medication. One needed regular insulin injections, and one had part time subcutaneous pain management, that turned into full-time geriatric support I would help with. I was also the go-to when they couldn't take their babies on vacation with them, both in my parents house (Sorry Mom and Dad) and at their owners home. At the age of 13 I was on payroll with an elite Hunter/Jumper barn. I was part of a team that cared for 27 high performance show horses, with the most expensive horse in the barn being worth 1.2 million dollars (He happened to also be the best cuddler.) I stayed with this stable all through the rest of grade school until I went to Pharmacy school. Working with this team is still, to this day, the best working experience I have had in my life. Currently, I have the most wonderful Staffy mix, and he is truly my "soul dog". He is 8 years old and the biggest sweety pie ever, my Mother calls him "the marshmallow". We have recently signed up to be volunteers with St. John's, so that we can visit patients and eventually students who could use a dose of happiness. He loves other dogs, and kids, or anyone that will talk to him - and he will gladly share me with anyone we have in our home. I have both the passion, and the experience to give your babies not only the love they deserve, but also the care that they need while you are away, either at work or on vacation. If you have any questions at all, please reach out and I will get back to you as soon as possible! Take Care xo I own my own business so I am very flexible with time, and absolutely love being able to switch gears, get some fresh air with the dogs and give my brain a break! I am extremely professional and will follow your directions for how you’d like your dog (and me) to behave in the home - consistency is important! I have had multiple clients give me their keys or door codes to come and go with absolutely no concerns, I’m only there for your pets! My home has a very large fenced yard where your pet can safely explore to their hearts content. I am very comfortable with all animals, and am able to uphold any training regimens you may have (including e-collars, alternative collars etc)
About: I have had dogs my whole life and taken care of many dogs for friends and family while they are away. I raised my first dog (In my adult life) from a puppy, right through to his end of life. I also have cared for our current dog who we adopted, so I have had exposure with dogs that are experiencing re homing and adoption senarios. I love walking dogs and believe strongly that an active dog is a happy dog! I am currently looking to change careers to dog walking and sitting and am very flexible with schedule. I am available for walks from 7am-3:30pm weekdays and can be open to weekend walks as well. For in home sitting I am available weekdays and weekends after 6pm for over night stays. I am very flexible for check ins and supplementary visits/ walks during overnight stays. All walks and visits can be curated to most schedule needs with enough notice and communication. I take all the measures to care for your pets in the same loving secure way that I can for my own pets. I require all dogs to be leash walked until a safe trust has been created between all parties involved. Obviously all safety concerns of the client as to the care of their pet will be followed to the best of my ability and instruction.
About: I grew up with dogs and cats as a child. As soon as I moved out to Canada, I got my own dog. My kids grew up with all kinds of animals in the house, the animals helped make my house a home. I’ve looked after friends and family pets most of my life and occasionally got paid for it. I took semi retirement early to enjoy life more and work less. I don’t consider caring for a pet a job. I work less the 30 hrs a week so lots of time to care for your pets in your home Lots of exercise, stick to the routine already set up by the owner. Lots of patience as the animal gets to know me and plenty of cuddles along the way. I have experience with seizures and epilepsy
“Dorothy was very kind, I appreciated getting updates and pictures from her visit with my pups. She even took on my daughters little dog at the last minute which was so nice of her.”

“Tara did a drop in visit and dog walk with Haru while I was away for most of the day. She took him on a lovely walk and sent me pictures of their adventure. I came home to a very content pup. Thank you for all the amazing care Tara!”

I have experience with puppies, senior pets, and shy animals, and I can provide walks, feeding, litter box cleaning, playtime, and medication under owner instructions. I almost graduate. I only have one course in this semester. Therefore, I have enough time and patience to take care of the dog and cat. Safety is my top priority. I keep dogs on leash during walks unless in a secure enclosed area. I never introduce pets to other animals without permission. You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Cowichan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
