I can’t say how grateful I am for having met Seoyeong! After over 3 years without taking vacations together, my husband and I were really nervous and unsure about leaving our Nina with someone we didn’t know, and the best review was actually seeing how rested and relaxed Nina was when we finally got back home. Our dog was happy to see us, of course, but there was no anxiety, no signs of stress at all, and that is the best review I can think of. Seoyeong was so patient with us throughout the entire process… That was our first time using Rover, and we had a lot of questions and all the uncertainties that come with leaving our baby with someone new. Seoyeong was patient with our questions and accommodating to our needs. That gave us the confidence we needed to enjoy a wonderful vacation time! I can’t thank her enough for that!! She kept track of Nina’s food, exercise routine, and supplements… Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, the apartment was nice and tidy when we got back. Nina was in great shape, happy and relaxed, and that says it all! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Nina asked me to tell you she is missing you already.🐾

Anna Maria was the first home pet sitter we ever used, was always in a kennel or with family but too old now. Our Rottweiler can be pretty set in his ways and when mama goes away it’s not good but he went right to Anna Maria, cuddled and layed at her feet. We will definitely use Anna Maria again

About: I specialize in in-home care for cats and small dogs, offering a calm, respectful presence so your pet can remain comfortable in their own environment. I have a natural affinity for cats, including those who are shy, anxious, or slow to warm. I understand feline boundaries and build trust quietly and patiently. I also welcome small and senior dogs who benefit from a gentler pace, consistent routines, and attentive companionship. I’m comfortable administering oral and topical medications and pay close attention to subtle changes in behavior, appetite, and energy levels. What sets me apart is maturity, reliability, and discretion. I treat your home with care and integrity, and I’m happy to tend to plants and general household upkeep while you’re away. I provide thoughtful updates so you can travel with complete peace of mind. My approach is simple: calm energy, careful attention, and a genuinely peaceful experience for both pets and their people. Pet care is an intentional part of my daily routine. I work remotely, which allows me to be present for feeding, walks, playtime, enrichment, and companionship throughout the day. I focus on in-home sitting and limit the number of pets I care for at a time, ensuring each animal receives calm, individualized attention. My schedule is flexible, making me an ideal choice for vacations, extended travel, or busy workweeks. I prioritize predictable routines, medication timing, and maintaining a peaceful environment. Because I’m selective about the pets I accept, I’m best suited for cats, small dogs, and senior pets who benefit from quiet, attentive care. When caring for pets in their home, I prioritize safety, comfort, and peace of mind. I treat your home and belongings with the same respect and care as my own, ensuring everything stays secure, clean, and orderly. Pets are supervised at all times, with attention to their individual needs and routines. I carefully monitor behavior, appetite, and overall well-being, and provide daily updates so you always know your pet is safe and content. I’m comfortable administering oral and topical medications, maintaining litter boxes, providing fresh water, and offering gentle play or affectionate companionship when welcomed. My calm, consistent presence helps pets feel secure, even in new or stressful situations. Above all, I aim to create an environment where your pet can relax and thrive while you’re away, and you can travel knowing your home and companions are in attentive, trustworthy hands.

Jenn was incredible! She was so communicative, kind, and attentive to our sweet, anxious dog. She followed our instructions for him to T, and when we came home, he was just so happy. Plus, our house was cleaner when we came home then when we left! What a treat! Our dog has been nervous in the past with other sitters, but we could tell he was happy and comfortable with Jenn right away. She and Adam really have a way with dogs, and we're so grateful that we found them. Will definitely be booking them again soon!

I asked the dogs: Salsa - "Many stars! Many walks! Much fun! Cookies? Things! WHEEEEE!" Mister Bird - "All good. Got some bounces in there, hung out a lot, cruised the neighbourhood. Worked out great!" Salsa - "WHEEEEE! Cookies?" We will happily hire Shannon again.

Leah was wonderful...kind to my shy rescue and resilient wuth the 2 different personalities. She sent pictures. The only reason I didnt give 5 out of 5 was rhat my shy rescue proved a little too stubborn about not going for walks and I wished Leah had asked more questions about that...but as this was our first housesit and spending time with these 2 big dogs. LEAH was awesome.

About: I’m Sandy — an animal-loving sitter with 30+ years of experience caring for dogs and cats. Pet sitting lets me combine my love of travel and animals while giving pets lots of love and their owners a completely worry-free vacation. I’ve spent decades involved in Pomeranian rescue, performed home checks for Little Paws Rescue, and most recently was a flight angel bringing two pups from Mexico to their forever homes. I’m especially good with seniors, shy animals, and pets who need a little extra patience and attention. I work part-time remotely, so your pets get plenty of company throughout the day. I’m a non-smoker with a peaceful, easygoing demeanor. I enjoy quiet hobbies like reading and yoga — which helps create a calm, relaxing environment for the pets I care for. I’m clean, respectful, and will look after your home as if it were my own. 🐾 Optional: I share my life with a gentle, well-socialized Pomeranian named Sable. She gets along well with both dogs and cats, and is fully housetrained, friendly, and easygoing. If you’re open for her to join me, she makes a sweet, low-maintenance companion — but she’s just as happy staying at home if you’d prefer a pet-free sit. References available. *Sable's reference: She was a therapy dog at the last dental office I worked at. She helped calm nervous patients, especially children. This speaks volumes about her character. I work from remotely part time. This gives me lots of flexibility to spend time with your pets and caring for you home while you are away. While you are away, I will treat your home and pets as if they were my own. My priority will be to keep your pets comfortable, happy, and on their normal routine while also making sure your home is safe and well cared for. Pet care will include: Feeding your pets according to their regular schedule and instructions. Providing fresh water every day. Giving medications or supplements as directed, if required. Making sure they receive their usual exercise, playtime, attention, and companionship. Keeping litter boxes, food areas, and other pet areas clean. Watching for any changes in their behaviour, appetite, or overall well-being and contacting you if I have any concerns. Sending you updates and photos so you know how your pets are doing while you're away. Home care will include: Keeping the home clean and tidy. Bringing in mail, packages, and newspapers. Taking garbage and recycling out as needed. Watering plants according to your instructions. Following any instructions for heating, lights, security systems, or other household routines. Making sure doors and windows are secure when I leave. Letting you know right away about any maintenance issues or unexpected problems. I will respect your home, privacy, and belongings and will do my best to leave everything in the same condition as when you left. Most importantly, I want you to be able to enjoy your time away knowing that your pets are safe, cared for, and receiving plenty of love and attention.

We had such a wonderful experience with Teresa J! She was incredibly accommodating and flexible, which made it possible for us to catch an earlier ferry. Throughout our pup’s stay, she sent us pictures and updates, and it was so nice seeing all the fun adventures they were having together. When we got home, everything was beyond our expectations, and most importantly, our pup was happy, relaxed, and clearly had an amazing time. We felt completely at ease knowing our pup was in such great hands. We would absolutely recommend her and hope to have her pet sit for us again in the future!

About: I look forward to getting to know your pup, and helping you give them what they need, whether you are away, or are just swamped! I grew up, caring for the family's high energy German Shepherd and Border Collie. When I went to college, I began looking after friends' dogs over night: meals, town and trail walks, water playing, poop clean ups, bed time routines, tick checks in the evening while they settle in for the night. Since then, I have helped manage dogs in work camp settings, and in homes, for friends and coworkers. I have some experience with puppies, seniors and high stress dogs. I have house sat for single nights, weekends, and several weeks at a time, which I enjoy because it helps me get to know your dog better! I am tidy, respectful of your house rules, and I enjoy caring for houseplants when everyone is put to bed. I am living in Duncan, and working in Mesachie Lake. I am happy to do early morning walks, or walks and sitting afer 3:30 pm, throughout the week Monday -Friday. and full days on weekends. I am available for 30minute lunchtime walks in Lake Cowichan Monday - Friday. I am available to house sit upon scheduling request: weekends and weekdays are all fair game! I am respectful of homes, dogs needs and their stresses. For dog walking, I will walk dogs often in leashed areas. I enjoy bringing dogs to off leash trails -only upon your consent- if your dog has shown good recall, and is safe with other dogs and people. The safety of your dogs and other people is at the forefront of my priorities. I will keep you updated on your dog, on walks, checkups or dog sitting. Throughout the day, I'll check out your dog's poops, make sure they don't get into garbage, and following your rules for greeting dogs and other people. For dog sitting, I am attentive to the dog morning, noon and in the evenings. I will not leave the house for more than 4 hours on weekends. I will play with them inside and outdoors, and ensure they get frequent pee and poop breaks.

Susanne cared for Sammy for seven days on short notice, and was fantastic. Susanne was super responsive, right on time for the meet and greet, and so kind and attentive with Sammy’s extra medical needs. Sammy clearly adored her, and coming home to a spotless, tidy place was such a gift after a long day of traveling. I’d highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, reliable sitter. Thank you so much, Susanne, for taking such good care of Sammy.

About: I've taken care of cats and dogs for family and friends since my teen years. I regularly care for my sisters Siberian Huskies, so I'm familiar with high energy pets! I also have an elderly cat of my own that I love dearly who I've had her entire life. I am currently only working a few side-hustles so my schedule is very flexible to meet your pet care needs. Let me know your pets regular schedule and my aim will be to keep things as consistent as I can for their comfort. My goal is to keep your pets on their regular schedule while you are away so that they are as comfortable as possible. I am happy to provide regular updates and photos to keep you updated on how they are doing during my stay!

About: I bring over 50 years of hands-on experience caring for animals of all kinds, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet’s unique personality and routine. I’m calm, reliable, and attentive, whether it’s daily walks, companionship, or sticking closely to your pet’s usual routine. My goal is simple — to give you peace of mind and make sure your pets are happy, relaxed, and well cared for while you’re away. I’ve been retired for about six months now and have been looking for meaningful ways to stay active and engaged. Spending time with animals has been a natural fit for me — it gives structure to my days and is something I genuinely enjoy. I’ve always had a strong connection with animals and appreciate the companionship, routine, and sense of purpose they bring. It’s important to me to stay busy in a way that feels rewarding, and caring for pets does exactly that. I currently offer pet care in my clients’ homes and do not provide care in my own home. When caring for pets, I focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure in their familiar environment. I take the time to understand each pet’s needs, including feeding schedules, exercise, and any specific instructions provided. I keep a clean, safe, and calm environment, and I’m attentive to both the home and the pets while I’m there. My goal is to make sure your pets feel relaxed and well cared for, and that you have complete peace of mind while you’re away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in North Cowichan on Rover is $102.68 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 442 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across North Cowichan. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Cowichan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Cowichan walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Cowichan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 88% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
