About: Long time dog owner, I specialize in senior animals. I fully beleive in letting dogs sniff areas as much as they need, it's stimulating to them. I am self employed and living on Saturna Island. I live, work and travel with my best friend Raygan. We live off grid and raise our own meat birds, eggs and veggies. I do not provide in home care at my house. Need to meet minimum word requirements. Word. Word. Word. Word. Word. Word. Word. Word. Word.
About: Caring for animals has been a meaningful part of my life for many years, and I approach pet sitting with the same attentiveness and responsibility I would want for my own pets. I was a devoted dog owner for 14 years to my beloved beagle, caring for her through every stage of life — from daily exercise and enrichment to senior care and comfort. That experience shaped my understanding of how important patience, consistency, and emotional awareness are when looking after animals. I’m experienced with small dogs and cats and comfortable managing feeding routines, walks, playtime, administering basic care, and providing companionship so pets feel secure while their owners are away. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality and needs, whether they’re energetic and playful or more relaxed and independent. My goal is always to create a calm, safe environment where pets can stick to their routines and feel at ease. I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and communicative, and I treat every home with respect and care. I work primarily from home on my laptop, so my schedule is flexible and I’m generally present for much of the day. This allows me to maintain your pet’s usual feeding, medication, walking, playtime, and bedtime routines while providing regular companionship. I do leave the home for errands, appointments, personal activities, and occasionally other scheduled pet-care visits. Before accepting a booking, I’ll confirm how long your pet can comfortably be left alone to ensure their needs are compatible with my schedule. My days are typically calm and structured, making my care especially suitable for pets that enjoy a relaxed environment and consistent routine. While I’m happy to accommodate reasonable care requirements, pets needing continuous supervision or who cannot be left alone should be discussed before booking. I provide house sitting in your pet’s own home, where they can remain comfortable in familiar surroundings. I work from home, so I’m generally present and attentive throughout the day while still coming and going for errands and appointments. For overnight stays, I require a clean, sanitary, and reasonably tidy home with a comfortable sleeping space prepared before my arrival. This includes freshly laundered bed linens, clean towels, and access to a clean bathroom and functional kitchen. Essential utilities and appliances must be working, and doors, windows, fences, and gates must be secure. Housekeeping or preparing the home for my stay is not included in the pet-sitting service. Please disclose any household concerns, maintenance issues, indoor cameras, or areas that are off-limits before the booking. I also require an honest and complete description of each pet’s health, temperament, routines, training, and behaviour. Pets should be reasonably clean, and the home must be free from fleas, bedbugs, or other infestations. Any history of aggression, biting, resource guarding, escape behaviour, separation anxiety, or indoor accidents must be disclosed before I accept the booking. Clear care instructions, emergency contacts, adequate food and supplies, and current veterinary information must be provided. My goal is to give your pets calm, consistent care while treating your home responsibly and respectfully.
About: I have experience caring for dogs of different sizes, ages, and energy levels, and I’m comfortable adapting care to each dog’s routine and needs. I focus on calm, consistent handling and clear expectations, which helps dogs settle quickly. I’m attentive on walks, respectful of training cues, and comfortable supporting puppies as well as senior dogs. I follow care instructions closely, keep environments safe and structured, and pay attention to behaviour or health changes. You can expect reliable communication, thoughtful updates, and care that prioritizes your dog’s wellbeing while you’re away. Although I work full time, I have flexibility to work from home when needed, which allows me to build pet care smoothly into my daily routine. When working in the office I commute to Nanaimo, which means I can provide home care to pets from Shawnigan Lake to Nanaimo. I focus on creating a safe, calm environment for pets, both in my home and in clients’ homes. I stick to routines, follow instructions carefully, and pay close attention to safety on walks and at home. I’m respectful of clients’ spaces and keep things clean and secure. You’ll receive regular updates so you can feel confident your pet is well cared for.

About: Hi, I’m Jaimi! I bring several years of hands-on experience in both clinical and behavioural settings. I’ve worked in veterinary hospitals for three years across Toronto and Vancouver Island, including at James Bay Veterinary Clinic, where I assisted in appointments and procedures, handled dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments, and supported overall patient care. Alongside my clinical experience, I spent four years volunteering as a dog walker with a rescue, working with dogs of varying backgrounds, energy levels, and behavioural needs. This gave me a strong foundation in reading body language, supporting nervous or reactive dogs, and handling a wide range of temperaments safely and calmly. I’ve also raised and trained my own dog, Rue, and have a strong personal interest in canine behaviour. I’ve recently been accepted into the University of Edinburgh, where I’ll be continuing my education in canine behaviour and training, with the long-term goal of becoming a certified clinical animal behaviourist. I’m based in the Cowichan Valley (near Duncan) and love getting dogs out on local trails, river walks, and quiet nature spots. My approach to care is structured, attentive, and tailored to each individual dog. I offer both one-on-one walks and small, well-matched group hikes, with a focus on calm handling, safety, and positive group dynamics. I typically start dogs one-on-one to get to know them before introducing them into a group setting if appropriate. I’m also happy to reinforce any training you’re currently working on, whether that’s leash skills, recall, or general manners — consistency is key, and I’m mindful of maintaining your dog’s routine. If you’re looking for thoughtful, reliable care with a behaviour-focused approach, I’d love to connect. Jaimi 🐾 I currently have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate consistent, focused time to pet care throughout the week. I typically structure my days around morning and afternoon walks/hikes, with availability for drop-in visits and additional care as needed. I aim to keep a steady and predictable routine for the dogs in my care, while still being able to accommodate different schedules when possible. Whether your dog thrives on consistency or needs a bit more flexibility, I do my best to work with their individual routine. My goal is to provide reliable, consistent care that fits naturally into your dog’s day. Safety and trust are always my top priorities. I aim to provide calm, structured, and attentive care so each pet feels secure and well-supported. In your home, I respect your space and your pet’s established routine. I carefully follow all instructions around feeding, medication, and exercise, and I pay close attention to behaviour and body language to ensure your pet is comfortable and not experiencing stress. For walks and hikes, I use safe, positive handling techniques and make decisions based on each dog’s individual needs. Dogs are kept on leash unless they are in a safe, appropriate environment and have reliable recall, with owner approval. I’m mindful of surroundings, group dynamics, and safety at all times. With my veterinary background, I’m comfortable administering medications, monitoring for any changes in health, and responding calmly in unexpected situations. I also take the time to build trust with each dog through patience and consistency, creating a safe and positive experience.
About: I’ve had dogs since I was a child. I treat animals with respect. I have little well train dog from Mexico. Learning to train her has given me more confidence to handle other dogs. I’ve foster dogs several times and loved it. Your dog will be loved well cared for ❤️ Walks are in the morning (7am-10:30) and after 3 pm. One hour long and with or without my dogs company. Depends of the preference of the other dog. I follow the instructions that the owners leave as each dog has its own routine and it’s important to keep them on that schedule. In order to make the dog feeling stable and safe.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Duncan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
