“Alexia was absolutely wonderful with our 2 pups and I am so glad we booked with her! She stayed with our pups all day and did an amazing job! Our older golden just had ACL surgery so she was great with taking extra care of him! Our younger golden has a lot of energy and she did great at keeping him entertained and happy. We will definitely be booking again! It was so great to be able to go away for the day and know our pups were happy and very well cared for!”
About: Hi, I'm restarting my animal care business. I want to ensure a stimulated experience with a swift pace and consistent disciplined walking style of what I like to refer to as "nose to toes," where the dogs stay no further than my toe, to my sides, or behind me. I also have experience with aggressive dog behavior, so if a single walk is necessary, I can do that. I have been in the animal care business for as long as I can remember, and I know Fairlington very well since I grew up here. I now live in Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. I will be able to track my walks with a phone app that will track your dog's walking pace, distance traveled, and the route we take. I usually do pack walks of 3-5 dogs depending on size, but I can do singles if needed. I'm also able to cat-sit/dog-sit and care for exotics and birds (no insects). I'm flexible because I have my own cleaning/organizing/declutter business. I wake up however early dog might need be let out or pet given meds, and give at least 3 long 30min-hour walks depending on the energy level and few let outs throught the day if needed for young pups or older if bladder is sensitive. Plenty of loves and can work on training or stimulated play time with toys and puzzles. I will be professional and not have any guests over ever, and always keep doors locked when not there and if plants need care I can help with watering. I have 4 animals myself so it's pretty automatic to just add another pet cuz I've cared for multiple animals at a time or drop in visits when needed throughout my day. Whatever the fmaily requests for schedule when to feed, medicate(if needed), amount of walks and play time needed to make sure they're healthy and stimulated. Whenever they're ready for bed, crate if needed requested by parents, and make sure they go outside(dogs) to ensure no accidents throughout the night. I give them just as much love and attention and play as my own. And feed round same schedule unless instructed otherwise. Giving exercise and play time when needed. And kept to routine of crating if owners instruct.
“Celina was the best! She took great care of Theo and kept me updated while I was overseas on my trip. Theo loved her, and he’ll definitely be seeing her again.”

“I ended up not needing to work so I turned around to come home and he was very polite and understanding, even refunding me. I highly appreciated that. I will definitely be a returning client!”

“Kim was amazing with our high maintenance little dachshund. We are so appreciative of her attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism. Your pup will be in great hands with Kim!”

“Ximena was wonderful to work with. She kept me updated with lots of pictures and kept me informed about how my cats were doing.. It was great not to have to worry about them when I was away. We are new to the area and will be using her when we travel.”

“Noor was such a great house/pet sitter for us! She was very understanding when we had sudden changes in our plans and our pets absolutely loved her! She also left our home in excellent condition. 10/10 would recommend!”

“Melinda is the best dog sitter hands down. She provides frequent updates and pictures and took great care of our home. I will definitely use her in the future. She is a gem.”

“We are so grateful to Brooke for the amazing care she gave our dog, Sasha! This was the first time we had ever left Sasha, and we were naturally a bit nervous, but Brooke was truly wonderful. She made sure Sasha got plenty of walks, playtime, and snuggles, and even handled a surprise power outage without missing a beat. Brooke kept us updated and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Sasha was clearly in great hands, and we wouldn’t hesitate to call on Brooke again. Highly recommend!”

About: My name is Hoslan and I’ve been dog sitting/walking for almost 2 years. I have 4 of my own dogs and love them like they my own kids, when it comes to meet dogs they just love me, they’ll bark at first because they don’t know me but after showing them I’m friendly and give them love I’ll be your best dog sitter and everytime they see me theyll be excited! I work from home, and I just be on my computer in the mornings, but after I’m done I have so much time to walk dogs, play with them, take them out to potty or anything! About: I’m the person in public who asks any person to pet their dog, even the dogs with the red vests that say “DO NOT PET”. I love dogs and they love me. I’ll watch over your pets like they’re my own. I work from home so there is plenty of time to play. Regular walks in the morning to get coffee and then again in the evening once the laptop closes. I regularly help out with my friends dogs, I’m the one in the group they all rely on to watch over them when they are gone. I live in the hear of Arlington and although I don’t have a fenced in yard, there are a few dog parks within walking distance of my home.

“We appreciated that she spent time with our dogs and kept them company while we were away. It was clear they were being given attention, which meant a lot to us. However, there were a couple of concerns that are important to mention. We have cameras in our home, which she was made aware of in advance. While most were turned off, we left the front door and one camera in the dogs’ area on. At one point, one of our dogs had an accident in that room. The footage showed that it was seen multiple times but not addressed. I only became aware of the situation after receiving several notifications and had to reach out to ask that it be cleaned. This made me feel that it may have been left unattended otherwise. Additionally, we had left our house key in a lockbox on the door. While the key was placed back inside, the combination was not reset. Since we were out of town, this felt like a safety concern, as it left our home more accessible than we were comfortable with. That said, I’m still giving her 4 stars. I know she’s just starting out, and these are all things that can easily be improved with a bit more experience. Overall, we’re grateful for the care she showed our dogs and appreciate her help.”

About: I've been caring for animals for as long as I can remember and have two dogs and a cat of my own. Friends, family, and neighbors trust me to care for their pets when they're away, and I'm often the first person they call when they need a reliable pet sitter. I treat every animal as if they are my own. I just love animals!! I have a very flexible schedule as I just graduated college and am looking for a full time job. I am available throughout the day, any day of the week typically!! When caring for pets in your home, I will follow their normal routines, make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you're away.

About: I’ve lived with pets all my life and currently have one indoor cat (spayed, friendly) and one dog (spayed, spends most time outside). I’ve done dog sitting for up to two weeks in the past and cat sitting for up to one month both in my home and at pet owners’ homes. Though I prefer felines as they’re easier to manage, small/medium dogs are certainly welcome — as long as they’re not too vocal. I am a long distance runner and hiker, so no walking distance is too far for me! My arm strength does have a limit, so any dogs over 30 pounds who pull/aren’t fully leash trained are a no-go. Additionally, I’ve done pet sitting for guinea pigs and rabbits for 1-3 day periods! I work part time and do most work from home, so I’m continuously available all week. My home is right next to the W&OD trail, so walks are convenient all times of day and the trail is never crowded. I’m always happy to drive pets to the trail as well. My cat remains entirely indoors, but the dog has endless pits of energy and so spends lots of time outside. We have two fenced areas, one specifically for the dog and another for the pool, along with ~1 acre of unfenced yard.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Britain is $50
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Britain
Joanne demonstrated Super reliability and adherence to instructions. It was super hot so the dogs couldn’t get the exercise I was hoping for but nothing was destroyed under her watch. Lol. The dogs took to her immediately which definitely showed from the pictures she reliably sent every day.

Joanne does a great job with our dog Riley. Riley is a reactive dog with other dogs so we need someone who understands her, and Joanne does. She was great with keeping her company, feeding her according to directions, and playing with her. Joanne also did a great job taking care of our home. She even filled up the humidifiers for us. I would highly recommend her. She also sends pics and communicates and responds quickly.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 2,408 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Britain. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Britain walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Britain maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Britain choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Britain. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
