“Melissa took such great care of Kuma! I loved getting photos and updates, it made feel so secure that Kuma was receiving excellent care. Melissa is a true dog lover and it shines through.”
“We had such a wonderful experience with Kathy! She took excellent care of our two small dogs over the weekend, and we couldn't be happier with the care they received. Kathy kept us updated with beautiful photos and regular updates, which really put our minds at ease. It was clear that she genuinely loves animals and provided them with the best care possible. We felt 100% confident that our dogs were in great hands. We will definitely be booking with Kathy again in the future! Highly recommend!”

“Scooter, my 3 year old boy dog had the best experience with Andrea, Henry and their whole family. Andrea was a great communicator before and during the stay. Henry took Scooter on so many walks and gave him endless snuggles. Thank you both, Scooter misses you and the chipmunks!”
“I’m very pleased to have found Ron and Lexi to take care of Jax. This was our second sitting with Ron and once again I have only wonderful praise for the care and love given. Jax is so at home there, I appreciate Ron and Lexi for making sure Jax is safe and loved.”
“Susan and her family were incredible! We have never left our boys with anyone who isn't family, but Susan took care of them as if they were. If you are looking for some place for your dogs to get plenty of love and attention while you are away, I absolutely recommend Susan! We have already booked our next stay with her.”
About: I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, sizes and personality for years and I continue to care for them now. I’m experienced with walks, feeding, bathing, playtime, and administering basic medications. I’m currently working remotely part-time, so I have a lot of free time and flexibility. I can’t think of anything better to do during my time than care for animals! I have a safe, pet-friendly home with a fenced yard where pets can play. I also have one friendly dog, but I can easily separate or crate dogs if needed to ensure every pet feels safe and comfortable. I’ll always follow your pet’s routine and provide them with plenty of attention, care, and love.
“We were so pleased with the care Laura provided to our little Rose. Thank you for being so accommodating. We will def consider you to watch our Rose again.”
About: My dog recently passed away at the age of 16, so I am just trying to get my doggy fixes in. I would love if they could join me for a run or hike. I currently work full time at an office M-F but come home for lunch for an hour. But I can guarantee a morning, lunch and evening walk (or activity) I live in an adu apartment but have a big open backyard and don’t mind pets on furniture if you don’t mind them on furniture.
“Being an owner of a small dog, I appreciate that Addie only sits for dogs under 15lbs. Another plus is that she works from home and is quick with responses to any questions I might have. The meet ‘n greet and sleepover went well so I will book with her again.”
About: I have dogsat consistently for the last year and have also volunteered in animal shelters since high school. I can board small dogs and love dog walking and sitting all dogs. I work mostly from home except for needing to leave the house a few times a week to teach in person. On the weekends I usually hike and can easily take a dog with me! My apartment can only accompany a small dog but I have experience dog sitting dogs of all sizes and ages. I’m a very careful dog sitter, and will make sure your dog stays safe and house stays clean.

“Melanie took great care of my dogs and dropped them off before we arrived! She was lovely to communicate with and my dogs seemed happy and healthy when we got him. Her place on the hill with the fenced in area looked lovely for the dogs. Will definitely use Melanie again!”
“First time using Rover, made a mistake and clicked the button twice. We added Megan to our requests. Best mistake I've ever made! She was quick to respond, which worked great for us on our request. It was amazing how she kept us informed and seeing pictures and videos, so we knew our little ones were doing great. We would highly recommend Megan to anyone for their pet sitting needs. We look forward to using her services in the future. Couldn't be happier!”
“Kendra was so great! We had a quick overnight trip as we were traveling through town and she was so easy to work with. She sent pictures to update us and we could tell our dog was SO comfortable with her. We will definitely reach to Kendra again next time we travel through.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Boca home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Boca.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Boca sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
