What’s better than a fresh cup of coffee in the morning? Why, a cup of coffee with your best friend, of course! And New Yorkers, you’re in luck: There are plenty of dog-friendly coffee shops in your city.
Not only do these places serve a quality cup of joe (or tea, latte, matcha, or what have you), but many have fresh water bowls and even treats for your pup. Swing by on your morning walk with your dog, or spend an afternoon on the patio with your pet. Bring a book, or simply take in some spectacular people- and pet-watching.
Ready? Grab your dog and your leash, and head out the door to these dog-friendly coffee shops in New York City:
1. The Bean

This friendly neighborhood coffee shop is very dog friendly, offering treats for your pet to munch on while you enjoy a bakery treat, hot breakfast item, or acai bowl. Bench seating out front provides ample pet and people watching. Be sure to check out their new location on Broadway!
2. Sweetleaf Coffee

Sweetleaf serves up specialty drinks like “Rocket Fuel” and “Voodoo Child.” Like The Bean, you’ll find benches out front for you and your dog to relax on. Don’t forget to ask the cashier for a dog biscuit.
3. Roasting Plant

Roasting Plant provides hitches for leashes out front, so your dog will be secure while you pop in to place your order. While you’re at the counter, don’t forget to pick up a few dog treats—they’re free! The crowd here is very dog-friendly, and you’ll fall in love with the coffee. They have other locations in the U.S. and in London, so you might even be able to get your favorite fix while out of town.
4. Devoción
Devoción is very serious about fresh coffee. Its raw beans arrive directly from Colombia 10 days after being picked. This dog-friendly spot has beautiful decor, with plant-covered walls and skylights. It’s the perfect place to snap a pic with your pup!
5. Gasoline Alley Coffee

Outdoor seating is limited at Gasoline Alley, so you might have to wait a minute. Trust us: The fresh doughnuts make the waiting worth it.
6. Cafe Grumpy

Given the small, dog-friendly outdoor seating area (complete with water bowls!), Cafe Grumpy is anything but. The baristas are incredibly knowledgable, and the cafe prides itself on brewing individual cups of joe on those fancy (read: $11,000) Clover coffee machines. We won’t tell if you can’t taste the difference.
7. Café Bark

Lament the fact that most coffee shops keep dogs outside? Café Bark will be your new favorite spot. Yes, dogs are allowed inside this cute little coffee shop, so you can enjoy your favorite treat with your pet no matter what the weather. In addition to a great menu, Café Bark has an events calendar, plus a boutique with tons of nice goodies for humans and dogs. Be sure to check out the House Rules before you head out. They’re basic niceties—keep your dog leashed, clean up after your pet, never leave your dog unattended—that will keep the space safe, clean, and fun for everyone.
