With their big brains and even bigger hearts, Huskies are some of the most rewarding pups to look after. They’re not always the easiest, though, especially when it comes to finding the best dog bed for a Husky. For one, Huskies are championship diggers, which often translates to shredded beds. They also tend to prefer cooler, well-ventilated sleeping spots—even though their big frames and tendency to hip dysplasia mean they’re likely to benefit from thick mattresses.
So what’s a Husky parent to do? We asked Dr. Dwight Alleyne, DVM, a veterinarian and advisor at BetterPet, for his advice on how to pick a good bed for a Husky. These are some of our favorites.
Best All-Around: PetFusion Ultimate Orthopedic Dog Bed (Verified Review)
Huskies are energetic dogs prone to orthopedic issues, torn cruciate ligaments, and hip dysplasia. Because of this, Dr. Alleyne recommends beds made with quality foam to help alleviate joint pressure and decrease pain. Huskies also tend to run hot and are serious shedders, so beds with breathable materials that are easy to clean are a huge plus.
The PetFusion Ultimate checks a lot of Dr. Alleyne’s boxes. Made with a dense foam base to support bigger dogs, this orthopedic bed ranges in thickness from 4 to 5 inches, depending on which large size you choose.
Polyester and cotton make up the water- and tear-resistant exterior. The cover can also be removed and tossed in the wash for easy cleanup, and the non-skid bottom supports dogs up to 100 pounds. We tested the PetFusion Ultimate ourselves and were impressed with its quality and price point, finding it to be a solid choice for large dogs needing extra joint support.
Key Features:
- Thick memory foam base helps relieve joint pain
- Water and tear-resistant exterior
- Support bolsters use recycled “green” materials
- Removable and washable cover
To Consider:
- Not a chew-proof bed option
Best Elevated: Veehoo Elevated Bed
Dr. Alleyne also highly recommends elevated beds because they provide excellent ventilation for Huskies. This Veehoo Elevated Bed features an aluminum frame and mesh fabric that’s durable, breathable, and hard to chew through. The large size can also hold up to 150 pounds. And, if you choose an XXL, the weight limit goes up to a whopping 250 pounds.
This bed stands nine inches off the ground, providing plenty of airflow and a cooler sleeping experience for extra-fluffy Huskies. It’s also very easy to assemble and clean. Simply hose it off (with or without your dog, per your Husky’s preference).
Key Features:
- Elevated design allows plenty of airflow to keep your dog cool
- Made with an extremely durable aluminum frame and mesh
- Easy to clean
- Great chew-proof option (ideal for puppies and teens)
To Consider:
- The base doesn’t provide as much joint support as foam beds
Best Calming Bed: Best Friends By Sheri Original Calming Bed (Verified Review)
Most Huskies have lots of energy, and some need extra help finding their zen. This highly-rated Best Friends by Sheri Calming Bed has dominated the market for years, and for good reason. In our testing, we found its cozy donut design provided a calming space for our hyper and nervous dogs to relax.
Premium quality fibers provide thick support to the base of the bed, while a faux fur cover adds softness and can be easily removed and machine-washed. Available in multiple large sizes, this calming dog bed offers comfy calm to Huskies in all life stages. However, dogs with advanced joint issues might find an orthopedic bed more supportive.
Key Features:
- Calming donut shape is ideal for hyper and nervous pups
- Great for burrowing and snuggling
- The soft faux fur cover is machine-washable
- Available in multiple large sizes for Huskies of all ages
To Consider:

The soft fleece, quilted texture, and thick padding add comfort, while a non-skid bottom keeps the bed in place to prevent accidents and injuries. The minimal, breathable design also makes it a great crate bed without the worry that your Husky will be too hot.
And, if you’ve got a more rambunctious pup on your hands, the stuffing-free design makes it harder to destroy. Plus, it’s machine-washable for after-trip cleanup.

This Furhaven bed is made of a five-inch thick, medical-grade orthopedic foam to soothe pressure points and support Husky joints. A unique contoured shape adds comfort, with the low center cradling your pup and the sloped ends supporting your Husky’s back and neck. Best Cooling Bed: Sealy Lux Dog Bed
Huskies love the cold, thanks to their thick, fluffy coats that protect them from frigid temperatures. However, all that fur makes it easy for them to overheat. The Sealy Lux offers a smart solution if you’re looking for both cooling and orthopedic properties for your pup.
Made with Cooling Energy Gel, this bed helps regulate your Husky’s body temperature by dissolving heat away from the bed’s surface. It also features a charcoal base to help absorb odors, which is great for outdoor dogs with a special knack for getting stinky.
Key Features:
- Uses orthopedic memory foam with cooling gel
- Cover is machine-washable
- Charcoal base for odor control
- Available in many sizes and colors
To Consider:
- Not a chew-proof option
