If you’re looking for a pet bed that offers a lot of durability, an elevated dog bed should be on your radar. Since elevated dog beds are raised off the ground by at least a few inches, they come into less contact with dirt and dust, making them easier to clean. In addition, raised dog beds are generally very portable and lightweight, and some cot-style beds even boast a chew-resistant frame.

However, if your dog has joint or mobility issues an elevated pet bed might not provide them with the most support, especially if it’s a style with limited padding. If that’s not a concern, an elevated or raised dog bed can be comfortable for your pup. You could even add a fleece cover to make it extra comfy.

Read on for our favorite elevated dog beds.

Top 6 Elevated Dog Beds for 2021

1. The Original Elevated Pet Bed by Coolaroo (Verified Review)

Coolaroo cot-style elevated pet bed in gray

Raised seven inches off the ground, this Coolaroo elevated pet bed is made of breathable fabric to keep your dog cool. Its steel frame is also very lightweight and portable, making it easy to move from inside to outside. While it doesn’t offer much in the way of cushioning, the bed’s high-density polyethylene fabric is easy to keep clean and resistant to fleas, mites, and mildew.

Available sizes: small, medium, and large

Verified review: “The metal looked high quality, and I really liked the color it came in. I like that this bed allows my dog a spot to chew or lay on without being directly on the grass. The dogs were all interested in it, and my Boston Terrier uses it as her default place to chew on her bone. It’s still holding up well through wind, heavy rain, and direct sunshine—and it’s small enough to store away for the winter.”

If you’re looking for an elevated dog bed that’s both stylish and practical, this Cozy Cama Pet Furniture bed may be for you (well, your dog). Designed to accommodate a standard size pillow, it comes with the bed frame as well as an organic pillow sham. Keep in mind that each bed is handmade in Texas, so it takes approximately two to three weeks to receive the bed. And, since the bed frame is made of wood, it may not be a great choice for dogs who are prone to chewing.
