From casual beachside cafes to upscale eateries, we rounded up the top 10 dog-friendly restaurants in each San Diego neighborhood.
A few important rules to know about dining with dogs in San Diego:
- No animals allowed in indoor dining areas (except service animals)
- Patrons can only bring dogs onto outdoor patio dining areas directly from outdoors, and may not enter through the restaurant
- The dog must be on a leash
- Dogs are not allowed on tables and may not eat or drink out of restaurant glassware or dishware (disposable containers from the restaurant are allowed)

Tips to Make Your San Diego Restaurant Visit Better
Restaurant visits may not be a great idea for every dog. Pet parents should use their best judgment and consider some of the occasions it’s better to dine without your pup. Lazy Dog describes it best with the 3 Bs rules. Avoid bringing your dog if they:
- Bark: Dogs who bark excessively may be asked to leave due to the disruption.
- Bite: Dogs with food or dog aggression should avoid dining with their pet parents
- Beg: Dogs who beg and struggle with basic obedience training around food should be left at home
Worried about leaving your pet behind while dining out? Ease their separation anxiety—and yours—and check out affordable dog-sitting rates with a local San Diego pet sitter.
