“Jeanette was absolutely amazing! My dog Luna instantly felt at ease and smiled the whole time she was there. Jeanette sent me so many pictures and videos and in every one Luna was full smiles. Luna had a great time and we will definitely use Jeanette again. Highly recommend!”

“Jon and Johanna are great care providers. I felt totally confident with their help with my dog Enzo. They clearly love dogs, especially dachshunds and are very structured in keeping my dog engaged and active and involved with training and fun activities. I will definitely keep them in mind for future bookings. I really appreciate the help they gave me this week.”

“Finn had another great day with Guojin and her husband! They sent lots of pictures and took him out on several walks. He loves doing doggy day care with them! We will definitely book again in the future!”

“I highly reccomend Tamara. We were first time vistors to the area, and she was very accommodating when our plans changed last minute, was helpful answering our questions about the area, and was understanding when traveling back from D.C. took longer then we anticipated. Most importantly, my nervous dog settled in very quickly and was very comfortable staying with her, and I picked him up relaxed and happy.”

“We've been sending our dog to Wyatt's on a weekly basis for a few months now and it's been wonderful! He sends us photos of her playing around with her buddies in the large backyard, and she always seems happy and good-tired when she gets back home. We've also left her there for overnights; it's so good having a place you can feeling comfortable leaving your dog if you have to head out of town. Would definitely recommend Wyatt to anyone!”

“Fritz always has the best time with ManYee and Hannah. It’s a good feeling to see him run to the elevator with her, not even looking back. And I always know he’s in the best care possible!”

About: Dogs have always been an important part of my life. I cared for my Miniature Schnauzer for many years, including times when he required extra care due to health issues. That experience taught me patience, responsibility, and the importance of understanding each dog’s unique needs. I spend most of my time at home, allowing me to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I do my best to maintain each dog’s normal routine so they feel comfortable during their stay. ✨ What you can expect: 🐾 Personalized Care: I keep the number of bookings limited so each dog receives plenty of affection, supervision, and individual attention. Exclusive one-on-one care may also be available upon request. 🏡 Easy Yard Access: Our living space connects directly to the yard. Since the yard is unfenced, dogs are always leashed and supervised during outdoor time. 📸 Frequent Daily Updates: I love sending plenty of photos and videos throughout the day so you can see how your pup is doing.
“Jane was amazing. She did more than expected and beyond. I got daily photos and updates. Her daycare space is so beautiful. My dog Maxx had such a great time there. She took extra care of him. I would highly recommend her. Thank you Jane.”

“Rachel is amazing!! She truly creates the ultimate experience for your pet. My puppy was constantly socializing with other dogs and constantly active! How do I know this? Rachel did a phenomenal job keeping me informed on what Kylo was doing with pictures and video updates! I felt at ease and as though my pup was left in caring hands. I highly recommend Rachel to anyone who is looking for a customized experience for their pet! Thank you Rachel for creating an amazing first doggy daycare day for my boy Kylo! Cheers and hats off to you!”

“We are so grateful to have found Melissa! She was so kind and gentle with our Luna, who has been through quite a lot in the last couple of years. We wanted a calm, nurturing environment for her to stay and that’s exactly what we got. Luna seemed to really enjoy her time there and we look forward to visiting Melissa again!”

“Vivian was wonderful with our dog! She sent updates and pics throughout the day. She followed our instructions. She also accommodated her with some steps to get onto the couch and made a nice perch for her to look out the window. Thanks again Vivian!”

About: I’ve been around dogs since I was a young child, and have a deep love for animals. I have two fur babies of my own: one since he was puppy and the other since he was 1. I trained them both, and especially offered additional support and love to my one dog who was a rescue after being a surrender. I have incredible patience, and offer a safe, healthy, and loving environment for your precious fur baby. I currently work from home full time so your fur baby will never be deprived of attention. I have lots of dog toys, 2 dogs who are wonderful with other dogs, so your pup will have lots of stimulation. We will be sure to go on plenty of walks to get fresh air and time outside. Although I do not have a fenced yard, your pup will not have to worry about getting time outside. We will take plenty of walks. My 2 dogs are very social and love to interact with other dogs. If I am coming into your home, I will follow all directions you provide, and ensure your fur baby feels comfortable.

“Jenny is incredible and took such amazing care of my baby boy! She was so flexible with timing, which helped us out more than she knows. She has a beautiful backyard, sweet pups of her own, and a wonderful family who made my dog feel right at home. I could tell he was loved, cared for, and having the best time while he was there. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. I couldn’t recommend Jenny enough and would absolutely trust her with my boy again! ❤️🐾”

“My shy and takes a while to warm up dog got really comfortable with Aimee and her husband over a couple of trial day care sessions. They’re boarding him over thanksgiving and my mind’s at ease knowing he’ll be well cared for in a wonderful home environment.”

“This was my first time using Rover and it was such a great and smooth experience. Veronica is very prompt in her responses. My pup played with other dogs and was completely wiped out when he got home (which he rarely is). I also appreciate that she sent photos of him. I will definitely be using Veronica in the future!”

About: Hi! I’m a dedicated and experienced pet caregiver with over 10 years of experience working with dogs and 1 year of experience caring for cats. Animals have been a central part of my life, and I truly enjoy building trust with each pet I care for. For the past 3 years, I’ve also been an active foster with Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, caring for dogs in need of temporary homes, and I’ve recently begun fostering cats as well. Through fostering, I’ve gained extensive hands-on experience with animals of all ages, temperaments, and medical needs. I’ve cared for puppies through senior dogs (up to 15 years old), including pets recovering from illness, surgery, and ongoing medical conditions. I’m comfortable administering medications, following specific care instructions, and providing calm, attentive support to pets who need a little extra care and patience. Whether your pet is energetic and playful or older and needs a gentler routine, I focus on creating a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment. I treat every animal like they’re my own and prioritize communication so you always feel confident while you’re away. Pet care is a consistent and natural part of my weekly routine. I currently foster dogs through Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and also care for foster cats, so my days already revolve around feeding schedules, potty breaks, playtime, training reinforcement, and monitoring overall health and behavior. I’m used to structuring my day around animal needs, including early mornings and flexible check-ins throughout the day. Because I’ve cared for pets with a wide range of needs—from energetic puppies to senior dogs and animals recovering from illness or surgery—I’m comfortable adjusting my schedule to provide reliable, attentive care when needed. I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and structured environment for every pet in my care. In my home, I maintain a pet-friendly space that is clean, supervised, and free of hazards, with routines that help animals feel secure and comfortable. I follow each pet’s normal schedule as closely as possible, including feeding, potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, and rest time. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and routines and aim to minimize disruption. I carefully follow all instructions provided, including feeding schedules, medication needs, training guidelines, and any behavioral notes. I also make sure doors, gates, and crates are secured and that pets are always supervised during care. Because of my experience fostering through Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, I’m very comfortable caring for pets with a wide range of needs, including anxious animals, seniors, and pets recovering from medical issues. My goal is always to provide consistent, attentive care so pets feel safe and owners feel at ease while they’re away.
About: Having raised my three dogs since they were 6–8 weeks old, I treat them like family and work hard to give them their best lives. From homemade meals and dedicated schedules for attention and exercise, to soft carpets and peaceful background music (classical, jazz, and lofi), our home is entirely tailored to their comfort. I know every one of their quirks, and our nonverbal bond is so strong that a single look says everything. They are deeply sensitive, wonderful companions. This summer, I devoted much of my time to caring for my senior dog during his battle with heart cancer. Losing him has left an emptiness in my heart, and I am still finding my footing as I adjust to life without him. As I slowly return to my routine, one of my goals is to create a memorial that honors the beautiful life and bond we shared. Because I understand how important it is for dogs to feel safe, secure, and loved, I generally prefer drop-in visits where your dog can remain in the comfort of their own home and familiar environment. When my schedule allows, I can also welcome one dog at a time into my home for a few hours of day care. I am home throughout much of the day and available to provide attentive, compassionate care, provided it aligns with the needs and schedule of my two resident dogs, who remain my priority from dawn to dusk. I know how much trust it takes to leave a beloved pet in someone else’s care, and I strive to treat every dog as family by providing a calm, peaceful, and loving environment where they can feel comfortable and cared for. I care for pets by including them in everyday life. I talk to them throughout the day, tell them about my plans, ask them questions, and engage with them as if we’re having a conversation. While they may not answer with words, I’ve found that dogs communicate so much through their expressions, body language, and presence. Whether I’m cooking in the kitchen, working in the yard, running errands nearby, or taking my laptop outside so they can enjoy fresh air and companionship, I’m always mindful of their needs. I regularly ask myself: Did they eat enough? Have they had enough outdoor time? Do they need more play, attention, or rest? My goal is to ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and included throughout the day. When caring for a dog in their own home, I approach it the same way I do with my own dogs. If I had only a few hours between commitments, I would make sure they had fresh water, a potty break, exercise, a meal if needed, and some quality companionship before I left. Knowing their basic needs are met and that they are safe, content, and cared for is always my priority. When dogs visit my home, they enjoy a secure fenced yard, plenty of attention, and a calm, peaceful environment. If your dog is crate-trained, I can easily accommodate that, or I can provide a private room where they can relax comfortably between outdoor breaks and meals. To ensure the comfort and well-being of all dogs involved, I keep guest dogs separate from my two resident dogs. This allows everyone to enjoy a predictable, low-stress environment and receive individualized attention. We also enjoy neighborhood walks, which are typically around 15 minutes long, depending on the weather and your dog’s needs.

Kaitlin and Yung have been wonderful puppy sitters. They are kind, reliable, and always very responsive, which gives me peace of mind whenever I need someone to watch my puppy. They genuinely care about him and take great care of him while I’m away. The best sign is that my puppy is always so excited to see them, and it’s clear he enjoys spending time with them. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for dependable and caring pet sitters.

Ashley was bery responsive in arranging both the meet-and-greet and our dog’s first daycare visit. She was thoughtful and patient, making sure our dog felt comfortable and settled in quickly. Her communication was excellent throughout the day, with timely updates, along with plenty of pictures and videos that gave us peace of mind. We truly appreciated the care and attention she gave our dog, and we highly recommend her!

Great experience! Our puppy is a rescue and was very scared at first, but Joanna was patient and helped her calm down before I left. I only needed help for an hour while I attended a doctors appointment and when I came back, Luna was smiling big, happy, and clearly had a great time. I am sure she will be excited to go back! Thank you, Joanna, for loving our little pup as much as we do!

Jayara was AMAZING! As a new Rover User looking for a last minute urgent sitter for my 2 Poodles, Jayara was available and ready to help. She was very easy going, knowledgeable, and accomodating due to our late arrival to pick up our boys. I HIGHLY recommend Jayara! You won’t regret it.

My fur baby, who is very anxious, has warmed up to Serena within 2 visits. It was such a relief to see her run up to Serena excitedly when I drop off her off. It's been great to see my baby have a great time. I appreciated the photo and video updates from Serena.

She was absolutely awesome with our puppy—so loving, patient, and attentive. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our girl was in such good hands. She kept us updated and truly treated our dog like her own. We appreciate her so much and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter. We will definitely be using her again!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
