“Santiago took such great care of our dogs over the weekend! He sent us tons of picture updates, gave them lots of playtime, and left our house cleaner than we left it. We felt completely at ease knowing our dogs were in such good hands and would absolutely recommend him!”

“Dylan watched our dog and cat while we were on a 2 week cruise vacation with spotty email connections. All of this and over Christmas and New Year timing. She was so good at communicating when possible and giving loving care to our animals as well as taking care of our home.”

About: I'm an animal lover, and I have been pet sitting for many years through friends and referrals, as well as through TrustedHousesitters. I've had animals most of my life, but none currently. I've also volunteered at shelters for many years, and I have trained and worked in animal rescue. I also volunteered doing animal rescue after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, for which I received an honorary award from the Humane Society. I'm comfortable with all types of animals, including dogs, cats, and other small animals. I have specialized experience with dogs, including dog behavior and dog rescue. I will take pride in providing excellent care for your animals, plants and home. I have many excellent reviews on TrustedHousesitters and Airbnb, and I can provide those links for reference. I work remotely on a flexible, part-time schedule, and I can tailor my schedule around my pet sitting commitments. My weekends often include hiking or trail running, and I'm also happy to take your dogs on hikes or runs if you'd like. Let's chat! I'm flexible with arrangements depending on the service I'm providing. - For pet sitting in your home while you're away, I would like a clean and comfortable space for me to settle in while caring for your animals. - For dog walks and/or drop-in visits, I'm very flexible. - Please just reach out to discuss details on these and other possible pet services. - Contact me for special pricing on long pet sits.

About: I’ve always loved caring for animals and have experience caring for dogs and cats with different personalities and needs. I’m comfortable with feeding, giving fresh water, playtime, walks, cleaning litter boxes, and providing plenty of attention and companionship. I’m patient with shy or nervous pets and understand that every animal has their own comfort level and routine. I treat every pet with the same care, patience, and respect I would want for my own. I’m flexible with my schedule and will work with you to make sure your pet receives consistent, dependable care. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting, and I’m happy to follow your pet’s usual routine as closely as possible. I communicate clearly with pet parents and make sure I arrive on time and provide the care your pet needs. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I provide a calm, clean, and caring environment where pets can feel comfortable and secure. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and individual needs, and I always follow their care instructions carefully. I’ll keep you updated during visits and treat your pet with the same patience, attention, and love I would give my own.
“Our two dogs are older and often seem stressed and sickly when we pick them up from the Dog Sitter. However, after they spent nearly 2 weeks with Samantha we came home to two very happy and healthy dogs. She took excellent care of them and our home. She even baked us cookies to welcome us home! Highly recommend!”

About: Hello and thank you for your time and consideration. I recently sold my home in VT, US and I'm setting out on adventures and travels. I am a traveling pet sitter. I've recently completed some very successful pet sits in Pennsylvania, Virginia, New York, and Colorado. In the new year, I will be back in Virginia and then onto New Mexico. I enjoy matching my love of traveling with my love of animals, and enjoy meeting new friends as well. I have a son who lives in Boulder, CO and a daughter who live in Lafayette, CO. My son has a new puppy who I have sat for on numerous occasions, and my daughter has three kitties that I have also sat for as well. I love animals and enjoy the comfort they bring along with those special moments. I am a retired professional with years of experience in my profession - I was a public school teacher for over 30+ years. I am a never smoker. I only tell you this so that you get a sense that I am a responsible individual with life experience in taking care of a home, as well as taking care of beloved pets. I used to have a black lab named Mollie who passed away and I still carry her dog tags on my key chain to this day (growing up, we also had several shetland ponies). Mollie was a very special puppy. As a loving pet owner I'm sure you understand. Your furry family members are just that, and I take my responsibilities very seriously. I would welcome to care for them according to your instructions. I have had many experiences caring for pets of all ages, including those very active youngin's, those with a little more years under their belt, and those in need of medical attention . Walks, etc. would be according to your direction and their energy levels. Thank you again for considering me, and I hope that you find me favorable, and if you have any questions, I'd be more than willing to speak. Please be sure to check out my reviews. I am proud of the care that I provide to my pet friends, as well as the lovely homes entrusted in my care. Sam My daily/weekly/monthly schedule is pretty flexible. I am a traveling pet sitter, so my time is pretty much dictated by my location, availability and my clients. My schedule: Micanopy, FL (4/14-6/14); Lakewood Ranch, FL (6/23-8/1); Green Valley, AZ (8/5-9/4); Albuquerque, NM (8/8-8/21)...more to post later. According to my experiences, clients are very specific about the care they would like to have for their family pet(s). Usually they leave me detailed instructions highlighting feeding schedules, walking instructions, play likes/dislikes, medication schedules, and any other instructions needed for me to provide the best care possible for their specific pet's needs.
“Rachelle took care of our rambunctious puppy while we were away. She was very respectful of our house, the instructions we left for the pup’s daily schedule, and went above and beyond giving us updates and pictures. She is a very trustworthy house/dog sitter. We recommend her highly and would definitely call on her again in the future. Thank you Rachelle!”

“Javier was great with my 2 big dogs and cat. While the cat box didn’t get cleaned, everyone was happy when I got home, which is all a pet mama can ask! He left the house in great shape as well, even stripping the bed he slept in. I’d absolutely rehire Javier; he’s a wonderful soul that animals respond to. They’re in good hands with him.”

About: I love frequently getting outside for a walk or run, rain or shine. I have house sat for many different people in my home town, including our local Veterinarian. I also spent time working at an Animal Shelter, therefore have had interaction with many different breeds/ages and thoroughly enjoy taking care of, hanging out, and playing with animals. I have helped with senior / puppy care and am highly responsible, caring, and loving. I currently am not working and can offer my full attention to in home stays, walks, or drop ins. I can do multiple breaks, walks, and quality time. The animals are the priority. I tend to them first thing in the morning, throughout the day, and before bed. I am timely with regular meals, fresh water, regular breaks (every few hours, never longer than 8 hrs), attention/affection, and exercise are basics of what I provide.
“Sarah did a wonderful job. This was our first time using Rover and we were a little apprehensive about leaving our two dogs and two cats with someone we didn’t know. Sarah was knowledgeable and great with our pets and kept us updated with several photos and short briefs a few times each day. Highly recommend! We’ll definitely ask her to housesit again.”

About: I’ve been around animals for most of my life and am comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and a wide variety of other pets. I had a Golden Retriever for 14 years and lived with a French Bulldog for 3 years, so I understand both the responsibility of long-term pet ownership and how different each animal’s personality, routine, and needs can be. I have experience pet sitting in private homes, including overnight and extended stays, and have cared for dogs, cats, chickens, reptiles, rodents, and livestock. I’m very comfortable following detailed feeding, walking, medication, and household instructions. I work remotely, which gives me flexibility and allows me to spend plenty of time with the pets in my care. I know how important communication is when you’re away, so I’m also happy to send regular photos, texts, and updates so you always know how your pets are doing. Most importantly, I try to keep each pet’s routine as normal as possible. Whether that means walks, playtime, cuddling on the couch, or simply giving a more independent pet some space, I adapt to what makes them happiest and most comfortable.Take advantage of my perhaps lower than market rate costs as I build my account and reputation! I work part time and remotely. Have free time throughout the day, and if I'm housesitting I can work from your house. Have plenty of time on the weekends also. Like I said before, I can work from your house and will spend a lot of time during the day at your house, and during the night if I'm staying over.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bark Ranch walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bark Ranch maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bark Ranch choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
