“Kathleen is amazing! I was nervous as I’d never left my kitten for longer than a day before, but she treated Gnocchi like her own. She updated me with pictures and videos and gave her so many snuggles. My cat definitely had the time of her life and I will be booking with Kathleen again!”

“Donna was amazing with my dog Taz! She was able to watch Taz for a few days on very short notice. Donna was so accommodating and loving to Taz. 100% recommend Donna and family Your pet will be in great and loving hands.”

“This was Phoebe’s second stay with Kevin. He took great care of her, and I can tell she’s always happy to see him. Kevin was careful to keep to Phoebe’s schedule, which I appreciate!”

“Diana is a lovely person and did great with our 2 dogs. This was our first time bringing them to a sitter and she made us feel at ease. She is very communicative and flexible, and sent us daily updates. I highly recommend her and we will definitely be booking again on our next trip!”

“Arsenii was fantastic with our two dogs. Wonderful communication from the very start, updates with pictures and two very happy dogs on pickup. Recommend him VERY highly! Thank you Arsenii!”

“Jeanine is an absolute sweetheart and the greatest pet sitters around. She was more than accommodating of my dog’s needs and consistently went above and beyond to care for him. I will absolutely be booking with her again and never pass up an opportunity to tell a fellow pet owner about her! If you’re on the fence, don’t be - let Jeanine care for your pet!”

“Hope was amazing! She communicated with us regularly. We picked up our dog Winston and his tail was wagging with excitement. Winston is a rescue so sometimes he’s timid but he warmed right up to Hope and her husband. Their home is beautiful with a sprawling backyard. Can’t recommend her enough.”

“Celeste did an amazing job taking care of my greyhound. Jolteon is terrified of cars and Celeste went way out of the way to make sure my pup was comfortable and safe. She gave him his medication without any difficulty at all. Her price is great for the care that she provides. I highly recommend booking Celeste to take care of your animals. I will be using her services be again very soon.”

“This was our second time boarding Billie with Sonia and her family, and we are so glad to have found someone local who takes such good care of Billie! Thank you to Sonia, Brian, and Vivian!”

“What a great experience. I love getting updates, and being reassured that my pup is having a good time and also getting what he needs. Valerie is conscientious, for example, she walked my dog before I came to make sure that he had his needs met before a long drive with me. Got an along well with her dog, in a family setting with a backyard — really appreciate her care.”

“Jocelyn was a wonderful and accommodating dog sitter for Beezy. She sent regular updates including almost daily videos of her clearly spoiling him :) and general info on his habits and well-being. Beezy is a delicate old boy, so it was nice to know he was under the care of someone attentive and reactive; she made sure to respect his dietary restrictions, too. Thanks so much, Jocelyn! I'm sure you'll be seeing Beezy again soon :)”

“Rene always takes great care of Cory. She noticed that he was itchy and has some skin irritation so asked if he could have some Benadryl, and always sends pics and videos of him playing and having a great time.”

“Molly did a great job watching my dog Scooby. She kept Scooby active with hikes and visits to the dog park, she regularly sent photos, and when I picked Scooby up he was in a good mood. I’m also very appreciative she accepted Scooby for a long multiple-week stay on short notice, after our original sitter fell through. Thanks Molly!”

“I cannot recommend Andrea enough! She took amazing care of my dog, treating him like he was her own. From the daily updates to the adorable pictures she shared, I always felt reassured that my furry friend was in the best hands. Andrea's attention to detail, kindness, and clear love for animals truly stood out. My dog came back happy, well-exercised, and even better behaved! I’ll definitely be booking with her again. Thank you, Andrea, for being such a wonderful Rover sitter!”

Kathleen watched Otter for a full ten days and that is no small feat. She did great providing a warm safe and loving environment for our 10 year old pitty who acts like a puppy and has tendencies to get into trouble. This stay was no different but Kathleen excelled well above expectations. Kathleen sent many videos and pictures of Otter snuggling up with her kids and around the house. When we returned from our trip Otter was relaxed and well cared for. I give Kathleen my highest recommendation and would 1000% book with her again, if she would have us haha. 10 out of 10.

Joanna is amazing! She took such great care of my dog, and I felt completely at ease knowing my pup was with her. She has a large, securely fenced backyard where the dogs have plenty of room to run, play, and burn off energy. It's clear that she genuinely loves animals and treats them like her own. I appreciated the updates and the care she provided throughout the stay. I would absolutely recommend Joanna to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitter. We'll definitely be booking with her again!

Valentina took great care of my dog, Nubya! She was responsive and friendly throughout all of our communication and shared frequent updates with pictures. It's clear from talking to her that Valentina loves dogs and I am so glad to have found her for when we need someone to watch Nubya!

Ana was wonderful. She was very concerned about my dogs needs and asked many questions to make sure that she could give him the best possible care. She was an excellent communicator and sent many pictures of my dog who was very happy. I will absolutely use her again.

My family and I were very happy leaving our kitten with Nicole. Our kitten was happy there and got acclimated with Nicole and her family very quickly, seeing as he had never spent time with anyone else before. This showed us they gave our kitten as much love as we do. I would definitely recommend Nicole and we will be asking her to keep our kitten again if she is available. Thank you again Nicole!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
