“Karen and Donald made my first experience on Rover the best it could have been. Not only were they initially quick to reply, but they were quick to set up a meet and greet within 24 hours. They helped me figure out the app to book easily and even gave me a discount for their services. Also, when I needed to cancel last minute, they were nice enough to not charge me. Hoagie loved his time with Karen and Donald and it was the highlight of his day. I couldn’t recommend these two walkers more!”
“Veronica is the kindest, sweetest person on earth 🌎. At first, she kindly rub my furry baby head with gentle touch. My baby instantly feels the positive energy and shake his little tail. Seems like they know when they are in good hands 🙌 Veronica is one of the best dog trainer.”

“Jared and Karen are excellent with Wally. Wally already loves them and looks forward to his daily walks. Both Jared and Karen are huge animal lovers and it shows. I feel very comfortable with them walking Wally because I know they take great care of him.”

“Toni is awesome. On our first meet you would tell how caring she was and patient. We have a senior dog who needs special care and right away we knew Toni was the perfect fit. Our old lady is very receptive to her and Toni has gone above and beyond to give her the time and attention she needs.”

About: Hi, I’m Tamera! I run Happy Howls Daycare and Walkies, where I bring over 11 years of professional pet care experience to every visit. One of my favorite aspects of this work is puppy care and foundational training. I understand the patience and consistency required for young dogs—from reinforcing potty schedules to working on basic leash manners and socialization. Whether you have a high-energy pup or a senior dog who needs a gentle pace, I tailor my care to their specific life stage. You’ll notice my last Rover review was in 2017; since then, I have been operating as a self-employed pet care provider for private clients. I’m returning to Rover now to meet new families and share my decade-plus of expertise with your furry friends. I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and dedicated to making sure every "howl" is a happy one! I myself have 2 cats and 1 dog. I currently reside with my mother in a 4 bedroom house. My mother owns 5 cats, 1 small dog, and a ferret. All are friendly. Keep in mind if youd want care in my home. :) As a professional pet care provider, my daily and weekly schedule is designed entirely around the needs of my furry clients. Because I manage Happy Howls Daycare and Walkies as my primary focus, I am able to offer a high level of flexibility and dedicated attention that fits into a structured routine: Morning Energy (7:00 AM – 10:00 AM): My day starts early with morning 'potty breaks' and active walks. This is the prime time for puppies who are working on their training and need consistent outdoor reinforcement first thing in the morning. Mid-Day Adventures (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM): This block is dedicated to my core walking routes and daycare guests. I schedule midday visits to ensure dogs get their much-needed exercise and socialization while their owners are at work. Afternoon Wind-Down (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM): I focus on late-afternoon walks and feeding schedules. For daycare pups, this is a time for calm play and getting them ready for their evening transition back home. Seven-Day Availability: While my busiest days are Monday through Friday, I am also available for weekend 'walkies' and daycare by request. This ensures that whether it’s a standard work week or a busy weekend, your pet has a consistent and familiar face to look forward to. Throughout the day, I maintain a very organized schedule. I make sure to leave plenty of time between visits so I am never rushed, allowing me to give each dog my full attention, work on training cues, and send plenty of photo updates to you. When your pet stays with me, my home becomes their second home. I focus on creating a calm, structured environment where they can feel secure while you’re away." Safety First: I maintain a 'paws-on-the-floor' policy for greetings to keep excitement levels manageable, especially for puppies in training. My home is fully pet-proofed to ensure a hazard-free stay. Routine & Structure: I mirror your dog's home routine as closely as possible—including specific feeding times, nap schedules, and any 'house rules' you have in place. Supervised Socialization: If multiple dogs are present, interactions are always 100% supervised. I use my experience to read body language and ensure every pup feels comfortable and respected. Cleanliness: I maintain high sanitation standards to keep everyone healthy and happy. In Your Home: Walkies & Drop-Ins "My goal for home visits is to provide high-quality care while leaving your home exactly as I found it—with the addition of a very happy dog!" Secure Entry & Exit: I am extremely diligent with home security. I double-check that all doors and gates are locked and that security systems are reset upon my departure. The Walk Experience: Safety is my priority on 'walkies.' I use sturdy leashes, avoid high-traffic or 'unpredictable' areas, and keep a close eye on the pavement temperature and weather conditions. Puppy/Senior Care: For clients at your home, I customize the visit. For puppies, this includes cleaning any accidents and reinforcing potty training; for seniors, it may involve gentle mobility assistance or administering medication. Detailed Check-ins: I will let you know when they nap, eat, and do their business
About: I have a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science from Michigan State University and previously work as a Receptionist for a Veterinary Hospital as I am familiar with companion animal health and nutrition, as well as first aid. I have a Miniature Australian Shepherd of my own that I enjoy staying active with through hiking and teaching her new tricks. I also own a horse and occasionally take care of the horses that are kept in the barn with him by feeding, turning in, blanketing, and cleaning stalls for them. I also enjoy cooking, writing, and lounging around watching Netflix. I have a lot of experience caring for dogs and cats of many different breeds and personalities from Rottweilers to Shitzu's. From Persians to domestic shorthairs. I have experience with exotics that range from chameleons to rabbits as well. You name it, I’ve probably cared for it! I currently work remote Monday-Friday. Dog walking and pet care would be a great way to break up the mundane part of the week and allow me to get out more. Although I have an unfenced yard for my Australian Shepherd, all dogs will be kept on a leash for potty breaks. They will also get a walk on my lunch break and plenty of toys to play with. If in your home I am sure to spend time with them and make sure they are secure and receive very little disruption to their normal routine.
About: I have been working around animals since I was 14, and my parents wouldn't let me bring a pet home. Since then I have worked with dog trainers, therapy horses, on therapy farms, with dog breeders, just so I could spend time around animals. As a mom to two little boys, I don't have the ability to take care of my own animal, but would love the opportunity to spend some time with yours. I am comfortable with all animals, of any shape and size, and have a knack of reading their body language so I can give them a positive experience. I understand caring for animals is not always about what I want to do with the animal, rather what makes the animal feel safe and comfortable. I am currently a stay at home Mom, and my boys are out of the house from 9 to 1:30. I would love to walk your dog or just stop by and say hello to your pet in the mornings. Safety First, for me and the animals I am caring for. I understand that all animals are different and have different needs and fears. I pride myself on being able to read an animal's body language to know if they feel unsafe or may do something harmful to themselves or those around them. Having worked extensively with animals and children I understand that pets and people need to monitored carefully when meeting each other for the first time. I also understand that animals are curios creatures and will try to get into anything that looks new and exciting. I am always on the lookout from an animal perspective of what a pet can get into.
“When I got home Newman was happy. Sarah took great care of him. I would recommend her. I will be using Sarah again great person who really enjoys what she does. Newman is in good hands.”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my lifelong experience with animals and the genuine love and patience I bring to every pet I care for. I have been around animals my entire life, so I understand that every pet has their own personality, needs, and routine. I also have experience caring for senior dogs. My own dog has since passed away, but I helped care for him throughout his later years, which taught me the importance of patience, attentiveness, and providing extra comfort and support. Because of this experience, I am comfortable giving medications, helping pets stick to their routines, and making sure they feel safe and loved while their owners are away. When caring for pets, I make sure they get plenty of exercise, playtime, attention, and affection. Whether that means going on walks, playing fetch, providing activities, sticking to feeding schedules, or simply spending quality time cuddling and keeping them company, I treat every pet as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure both pets and their owners feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily and weekly routine. Since I am currently a college student and school is out, I have a lot of free time and a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of attention to the pets in my care. I also work as a babysitter, but Rover is my top priority job. I make sure to schedule my time carefully so that every pet receives the care, attention, exercise, and companionship they need. Whether it’s feeding, walks, playtime, cleaning up after them, or simply spending quality time together, I am committed to providing reliable and attentive care. Because of my flexible availability, I can easily accommodate different routines and help pets feel comfortable and cared for while their owners are away. I currently have three cats who, despite not paying rent, are very well taken care of! Caring for them is a big part of my daily routine. I make sure they receive their daily feedings, fresh water, interactive playtime, plenty of attention, and daily litter box cleanings to keep their environment clean and comfortable. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their established routines as closely as possible so their pets feel safe and comfortable. This includes feeding, refreshing water, cleaning litter boxes, playtime, administering medications if needed, and providing lots of love and companionship. I understand that every pet has unique needs and personalities, so I take the time to get to know them and make sure they feel cared for while their owners are away. My goal is always to provide dependable care, maintain a clean environment, and treat every pet as if they were my own.
About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life starting with a family pet grooming business. Beyond that I’ve cared for family and friends dogs as needed. My two most common pups I take care of are a golden doodle and cattle dog mix. I work from home full time, which means I can do early morning (done by 8:30 am), lunch time (approx 11-1) and evening visits (after 5:30 pm). On weekends I’m available more time slots. If you’re unsure if I can fit your needs just ask! I have experience doing feeding, potty breaks on a leash, as well as in fenced in yards. The more detail/instructions you provide on care needed the better I can provide that. I am and will continue to be respectful of your dog and your property. If you have any specific questions please let me know.

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.
Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Avoca. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.
For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Avoca.

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Avoca. On Rover:
- 95% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
