Anna is a fantastic dog sitter who goes above and beyond for her clients. Before having Anna sit for us for the first time, she made the effort to come by and visit our pup. This was so important for there reasons: 1. Gave our pup the opportunity to become friends with Anna; 2. Allowed our dog to feel comfortable in her home with this new friend; and 3. Gave us the opportunity to show Anna where the important things for our dog are in the house. Anna is prompt and communicative. She gave us photo and text updates throughout her visit. She is clearly a kind and respectful person and dogs seem to love her immediately. I will most definitely reach out to Anna again for any dog sitting/house sitting occasions.

About: I am a cat person through and through but I love all pets including birds, lizards and fish! I have had them all of my life and have 5 pets currently. I will not be charging extra for multiple cat households, multiple small or medium sized dogs or mixed animal households. The more the better! I have experience administering oral medications and trapping stray kittens and adult cats. For 3 years, I took care of a feral colony until I was able to S/N and rehome them as barn cats. Before having my son, I traveled frequently so I understand cancelations and modifications. I also know the feeling of being stressed out about your pets at home while being away. I promise that I am a great communicator. Since I work from home on my own schedule I can do multiple stop-ins a day at anytime. Though, every once in a while, I will have my 18 month old with me so I am not taking on very large or aggressive dogs. Though, I can make accommodations to try to be childless for your smaller dog or your cat if they are not kid friendly if the appointment is very early or after 1:00pm. In my younger days, I was a take-my-dogs- everywhere type of person until the dogs and I got older and stopped going everywhere. Having older dogs has given me experience in senior dog needs.

Ann did a great job caring for our dog and even made friends with our very shy cat. She was very responsive and sent lots of updates, which were very reassuring since this was the first time we’ve left our dog at home overnight. Our dog was happy and calm when we returned. We will definitely rebook with her if she is available!

Jessica was amazing from our first messages to her stay with my animals. Initially, I asked for references as I previously had a terrible experience on Rover and she was quick to provide me with the numbers of people she has sat for previously (with their permission). At our meet and greet my animals immediately took to her and her to them, and she was so comfortable even with their high excitement and noise levels. ;) During her stay with them, she kept in touch regularly with me and sent me so many pictures which I loved. I could tell she loved my animals which is always what you want from their caregiver. <3 My home was clean when I returned and, far more importantly, the animals had clearly been very loved on and wonderfully cared for! I recommend her so highly!! She is wonderful and my animals agree! :)

Allegra was absolutely wonderful when house sitting our dog franklin over a long weekend. She took on the additional challenge of caring for him when he was on heartworm treatment and did a great job attending to his special medication and low exercise needs. We came back to a happy dog and we know he was well cared for. She sent multiple picture updates each day. We will definitely contact her again in the future to watch franklin!

Yvonne has been absolutely AMAZING! Not only do my dogs love her, but she takes amazing care of them AND the house while I’m gone. I had a cancelled flight the night I was supposed to be back, and she graciously took care of my pups an additional day than planned, and she also picked me up from the airport! I could not recommend her enough 🙂 10/10

About: As a pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your fur babies. I currently have my sweet girl Nova at home and am comfortable with pets of different temperaments and needs. I strive to create a safe, stress free experience while keeping owners updated with lots of photos and messages. Whether your pet needs playtime, cuddles, medication, or just a consistent routine, I’ll make sure they receive attentive care. I’m currently a SAHM with a very flexible schedule, allowing me to provide reliable care and accommodate a variety of pet care needs throughout the day. Your pets are treated like family! I have 1 cat in my home currently that is okay with dogs that visit. I maintain a clean, safe, and pet-friendly environment and carefully supervise interactions at all times.

About: My pet-sitting experiences include looking after both cats and dogs day to day and for extended periods of time. When taking care of cats, I make sure they have clean water and food at all times; keep their environment clean; watch over them and see if they are healthy; and interact with them by playing with them on a daily basis. I also have experience caring for dogs of various sizes and energy levels. Making sure their fed, walked, groomed, and cleaning up any messes/ their environment. In addition always making sure they have access to clean drinking water and providing plenty of playtime and attention. I occasionally take care of a family friend’s dog who has arthritis. I help keep her comfortable through gentle massages, giving her medication as directed, and hand-feeding her when necessary. In doing so, I learned to be patient and attentive in caring for an animal's individual needs. What sets me apart is my genuine love for animals. I always go the extra mile into taking good care of animals, ensuring their safety, and comfort in the absence of their owners. I treat every pet as if they were my own and doing everything I can to ensure their happiness. I am extremely flexible with regards to my schedule, and can be available for the most part of the day. I wake up early, so feeding and taking the animals for walk won't be a problem at all. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I value their safety, trust, and maintaining a calm and familiar environment for their pet. It is important for me to carefully follow all the instructions concerning their feeding schedule, treatment, taking medication, and other specific care. It goes without saying that I make sure that the pets receive proper meals and have clean water to drink. I also try to keep the house as clean as possible, including litter boxes for cats and any messes that may occur. I also observe the pets to ensure everything seems normal and they’re healthy. I believe that building trust with both pets and owners is essential, I’ll always provide them with updates and photographs about the current condition of the pets. My goal is to make sure their pet is cared for and mostly importantly happy.

Karina always shows such care for my pets. My dog and cat both have health issues that require multiple medicines and supplements. She always follows their routine closely, asks questions to make sure she’s providing good care, takes my dog on daily walks, and sends daily pictures. I also come home to a clean house. I will not hesitate to request pet/house sitting from Karina again and I highly recommend her!

About: Currently in medical school so looking to make some extra money. I’m always the first one asked to watch pets for friends, family, and classmates. I’ve got my own fur babies but I can never get enough and love to help ensure other peoples pets are well taken care of when they are away. I love to send photos to update owners. I’m currently in school with a reduced schedule for the summer so I’m able to have a flexible schedule right now. Come fall things will be different I’m used to working with pets who have all manner of needs and personalities. I’ve always been good about making a good bond with new pets and respecting their personal space while also keeping them entertained and safe.

Erin was amazing with our frenchie, Margo! She was friendly, sent updates, and my pup came home happy and tired from all the fun. It’s very clear that Erin’s a dog lover and that made me confident that our girl was going to well loved while we were out of town. I’d highly recommend Erin and we look forward to booking with her again very soon!

FAQs for House Sitting - Ashton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ashton on Rover is $27.75 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 813 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ashton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ashton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ashton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ashton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ashton. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
