“Carolyn walks my dog weekly and has been fantastic! I'm at ease knowing Minnie is in her care while I'm at the office. Carolyn is quick to respond to my messages and always provides a complete rover card with a summary of their walk. I highly recommend her!”

About: I lost my pup of 18 years this past July, 2026. As a former pet owner, I’ve also had good and bad sitter experiences. So, I understand how hard it is to find a trustworthy sitter for your furry baby. I hope I can alleviate that worry and give you peace of mind while you are away! I was a primary caregiver to my beloved pup from puppy to senior. I enjoyed training her to become a well-behaved happy pup and enjoyed making her a power bowl in her senior years. Other than my pet, I have experienced taking care of medium to big size dogs (up to 100 lbs) and cats. I am a very active person - a hiker, marathoner, boxer, and cyclist, that means your furry baby will get a lot of activities in with me! And from my previous care experiences, I have a good sense of reading animal behavior for whether they need attention or they are sick, etc. I am a young professional working flexible hours until October, 2026. That means I have plenty of time to give your furry babies attention any time of the day. *Boarding, walking and house sitting are all welcome weekdays or weekends with no holiday fees. *If you are booking for holidays, please contact me before booking! Otherwise, I try my best to update my availability calendar. *If any pet parent is seeking a full time sitter, please indicate when booking. Otherwise, I am available for your pet every 4-8hrs during the day. *Boarding: I am in a 2bd condo with a balcony in a quiet neighborhood. My condo complex has many unfenced green fields. And I am walking distance to a lot of trails (paved and non-paved) that your dog can take advantage of. It’s important to note that since I am in a condo, I only accept one pet at a time and keep your pet outdoor active! *House Sitting: I try to keep your pet’s routine as similar as possible. I will ask you upon our meet&greet to show me his/her daily routine, disclose any indoor cameras/recordings, and house safety.
“We are so grateful to have found Joseph. Our mini poodle is quite skittish around people other than family, and Joseph showed great patience and understanding with her, allowing her to get comfortable on her own timeline. Now when he arrives, our dog is thrilled to see him and comes home from walks happy and relaxed. We also appreciate Joseph's dependability and reliability; we trust him completely.”

“Candice was so communicative and made me feel at ease before she even arrived at the house. This was my first time using Rover and first time having someone walk Mocha without a previous introduction. It was so nice to know that Mocha was in good hands and Candice went above and beyond in making sure she got a good walk in and had time to pee/poop. I'm so appreciative of Candice and would recommend her to anyone!”

“I can’t say enough wonderful things about Jacquelyn! She has gone above and beyond in caring for my elderly dog and cats, providing them with not just the essentials but genuine love and attention. From the very start, she has been incredibly kind, communicative, and dependable, always keeping me updated with messages and pictures that give me peace of mind. Caring for senior pets requires patience and extra effort, and Jacquelyn has shown both in abundance. Whether it’s taking extra time on walks, administering special care, or making sure my cats feel just as loved, she has exceeded all my expectations. It’s clear she truly cares about the well-being of the animals she looks after. I wholeheartedly recommend Jacquelyn.”

“Finding someone trustworthy to check in on our senior dog, Siena, was important to us, and Lisa has exceeded our expectations. She’s always reliable, keeps us in the loop, and you can tell she genuinely cares about what she does. Siena enjoys her visits and is comfortable with Lisa, which gives us such peace of mind. We feel so fortunate to have found Lisa!”

About: Hi! I’m a huge dog lover, and I’ve been surrounded by dogs of all breeds my entire life and have years of experience walking and pet sitting for friends, family, and neighbors. I am comfortable caring for dogs of different sizes, ages, and energy levels, and I always prioritize their safety, happiness, and well-being. I am a very active person, so I’m not intimidated if a dog has hyperactive needs! I work most weekdays (9am-5pm). My schedule often allows flexibility before or after shifts for morning or evening walks and check-ins. I do not work nights or weekends, and I’m also available for longer hikes or excursions on those days. I prioritize keeping a consistent routine making sure the transition is as smooth as possible; this includes ensuring feeding schedules, walk times and other specific care needs are met. I love enrichment through walks, play, and companionship so that your pet feels comfortable while their owner is away.
“Alexandra was responsive, flexible, and quick to respond whenever I reached out. I am so glad I found her on such short notice (less than 24 hours). Will definitely seek her services again.”

“Christine is fantastic! I needed someone to walk my dog Buddy at the last minute. Christine was able come over for a meet and great right away and book our walk. She definitely helped me out in a pinch and was wonderful!”

About: I've had cats and dogs my whole life and know how to make animals feel comfortable and cared for. I offer dog walking and cat boarding from my home in Yorktown Heights. Guest cats stay in their own private room with fresh food, water, and a clean litter box. For dog walking I keep things low stress, consistent, and fun. I work from home regularly so I'm around often and take every pet's routine seriously. I treat every animal like my own. I work from home frequently which means pets in my care are never left alone for long stretches. For dog walking I'm flexible on timing and can work around your schedule for morning, afternoon, or evening walks. For cat boarding, guest cats get visits multiple times a day including morning feeding, a midday check-in, and an evening wind-down with fresh food, clean water, and a scooped litter box. Weekends I'm generally very available and weekdays I can accommodate most requests with a little advance notice. I genuinely enjoy spending time with and meeting new animals so this isn't a job to me, it's a passion. I have a dog and two cats of my own so I know firsthand what animals need to feel safe and comfortable. Guest cats are kept in their own private, dedicated room completely separate from my resident pets, giving them a quiet space to decompress and settle in at their own pace. For dog walking I keep things calm and consistent, always on leash, through the safe residential streets of Yorktown Heights or local parks where my dog frequents himself. I pay close attention to each animal's personality and adjust my approach accordingly. Whether a pet is social and energetic or shy and cautious, I make sure they feel comfortable and cared for. My home is peaceful, clean, and genuinely pet friendly.

“Tara has been great with my senior dog, Boss. She is very kind, gentle, and patient with him. That is something I really appreciate since his health isn’t great and needs the care. I would definitely recommend her for your doggy needs!”

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Amawalk. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.
For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Amawalk.

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Amawalk. On Rover:
- 88% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
