“Julie is a wonderful addition to our pups family. She kept us updated throughout our trip with notes and photos clearly showing passion for her love and care of our babies. Our home was neat and tidy upon return as well. I recommend Julie with absolute confidence!!!”

“Kira was a fantastic house guest and dog sitter for my cat and dog. My dog is extremely shy with new people and Kira took the time to get Mia to warm up to her. We will be using her again in the future!”

“John was professional, easygoing, and communicative. He stayed in our home with our pups for a week and they are all healthy and happy. He was very respectful of our home as well. We will definitely rebook!”

“Ariel was so kind and attentive with our dog! She’s older, blind, and needs extra patience, so we’re always a little nervous leaving her, especially since boarding at camp hasn’t been a great experience. She was recommended by our vet (and works there), which gave us so much confidence, and she absolutely lived up to it. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our dog was comfortable at home and cared for by someone who is truly compassionate about animals. We came home to a happy old lady and are so grateful. We’d absolutely book with her again!”

“Tatyana was the BEST! She was so communicative and flexible. My dog was so at ease with her and she sent me lots of pictures throughout our stay. 10/10 recommend!”
“Anna was absolutely great! This was the first time I had someone come to the house and watch our dog. Our dog can be a handful at times especially on walks, but she did so well. She sent pictures throughout the stay and kept me updated. Definitely will use her again!”

“I can’t recommend Ashley enough! She stayed at my house while I was in Mexico, and I felt completely at ease knowing Goose and Stoli were in such great hands. Ashley truly went above and beyond—she kept the house spotless (even cleaned without being asked!), sent lots of photo updates, and even made the girls the cutest bandannas. Goose and Stoli were clearly happy, loved, and well cared for the entire time. Coming home to spoiled babies was the best feeling. Ashley is awesome, and I would absolutely book her again.”

About: Hi, I am a grad student and looking to make some extra money. I have always loved animals especially dogs and cats. Growing up my family had tons of animals including cats, fish, turtles, and dogs (as small as a Yorkie and as large as a Golden Retriever). I love playing with dogs and cats. My family always called me the animal whisperer growing up. I recently moved to houston and would really like to meet and play with more animals as it is very therapeutic for me. In my free time I volunteer at different animal shelters. I also love to be able to be outside as much as possible, so I’d be thrilled to go for walks and visit local dog parks!
“I left my puppy for the weekend for the first time so I was a bit nervous on how she’d do, but she did great! The sitter was good at updating and sending photos and making sure I knew Peppa was fine! She looked very happy in all the photos she sent :) I 10/10 recommend and I’ll 100% use her service in the future again”

“Diana was very good with our pack. From the pictures it seemed they spent time outside together and they must have been calm as they did not get into anything they shouldn’t. Diana left the house tidy. We would book her again.”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Avery took great care of our two dogs, Bosa and Murphy, while we were away. He was very reliable and communicative, and we really appreciated the updates and photos he sent during our trip. It gave us peace of mind knowing our dogs were in good hands. We came home to two happy pups, a clean house and everything was great shape. We would definitely book Avery again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter! Thx Avery!”

“Stephanie was an amazing sitter! She was so communicative, sent tons of photos and absolutely loved on our boys like they were her own. She took them on walks and played with them inside/outside. And I definitely trusted her in our home. We will 100% be booking with Stephanie in the future if she is available!”

“Larisa was EXCEPTIONAL! She stayed at my home with my dogs (3 of them). She played outside with them everyday and was in constant contact with me. My dogs are very spoiled and usually take days to warm up to someone. They were her best friends within hours of me leaving. She really went above and beyond. They were sad to see her leave and waited at the door to see if she would come back. I will definitely be using Larisa again. My only issue is my dogs love her too much 😂 especially my border collie who got more playtime in the 5 days I was gone than see normally does in a month! Very attentive and loving pet sitter.”

“Ana was so amazing with my babes !!!! She was totally attentive and loving, and kept me updated each day. Totally appreciate her and will most certainly reach out to her next time I need to leave town 😊 Highly recommended !!!!”

“OMG, Bethany is amazing. First, she read the instructions and asked really good questions. Throughout her stay, she kept me up to date, spoiled my dog with double walks, and even gave Buddy a bath. Buddy was calm and content when I got home. I wish I could go another trip so Bethany could dog sit again.”
About: Hi! I’ve lived and cared for dogs, cats, and ferrets all throughout my life. I have also worked at a pet resort and volunteered at a pet rescue where I gained experience in dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes, reptiles, and birds. I have experience with giving medications, maintaining (mostly kitty) boundaries, and strict feeding schedules. I also currently have one pitbull (my stepson) and two young 1-year-old kitties (my children) bestowed to me by the Cat Distribution System! However, I have to say I’m partial to small dogs since I grew up with Shih Tzu mixes! I love them all. I schedule my life around theirs. Their whole world is me, so I prioritize their needs. I’ll do whatever they need me to do, one example being I have to now take my cats on their own walks (harness-trained) because they get jealous of their dog sibling. I always offer companionship and play if that’s what the pet’s body language is giving me, or I can just be a warming presence who just provides food and cleanup. I’ve worked with dogs who need 6 walks a day and cats who you need an oven mitt before serving food. I go based off them!

“Molly was very communicative and loving with my pup! She handled lots of medicines like a champ. I’m so grateful to Molly for looking after my girl while I was out of town.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Aldine walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Aldine maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Aldine choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Aldine. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
