“Exceptional Care for Two Special-Needs Cats Jennifer provided outstanding care for our two cats during a three-day trip, and we couldn’t be more grateful. One of our cats is diabetic and requires glucose monitoring along with insulin injections twice daily. Our other cat has chronic kidney disease, so careful observation of food and water intake, litter box habits, and overall behavior is extremely important. Jennifer handled every aspect of their care with professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine compassion. She kept us informed with regular updates, closely monitored both cats, and quickly noticed even subtle changes in their routines and behaviors. It was clear that she treated our pets as if they were her own. Knowing that our diabetic cat was receiving accurate glucose readings and insulin injections on schedule gave us tremendous peace of mind while we were away. Caring for senior cats with medical needs requires experience, reliability, and dedication, and Jennifer exceeded our expectations in every way. We returned home to two happy, healthy, and well-cared-for cats. We highly recommend Jennifer to anyone looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and compassionate pet sitter, especially for pets with medical conditions. We will absolutely be booking with her again. — Valerie & Family 🐾”

“We’re so glad we found Kasey, she was incredibly helpful with our new puppy Oakley. She was super easy to work with and very flexible when it came to our schedule. Oakley was always well taken care of during her visits. Her background in animal hospitals and expertise in care made her a clear choice for us, and I would recommend her to anyone looking for care. Thanks Kasey!”

About: Hi! 🐾 I’m Josslynn, and I’ve always had a huge heart for animals of all kinds. I truly believe every pet deserves to feel safe, loved, and cared for, especially when their favorite person can’t be there. 🤍 I’m patient, gentle, dependable, and love getting to know each animal’s unique personality. Whether your pet is playful and energetic, shy and needs a little extra patience, or simply wants lots of cuddles and company, I’m happy to meet them where they’re most comfortable. As a pet owner myself, I understand how much trust it takes to leave your furry family member in someone else’s care. I’ll treat your pets with the same love, attention, and kindness I’d want for my own, while making sure you can feel comfortable and worry-free while you’re away. 🐾💕 I’m currently 20 years old with a very open and flexible schedule, which gives me plenty of time to dedicate to caring for your pets. I’m available throughout the week for walks, playtime, feeding, check-ins, and lots of love and attention. Having this flexibility allows me to work around your pet’s normal routine and make sure they’re never rushed or overlooked. 🐾💕 I care for every pet as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I provide plenty of attention, playtime, walks, feeding, cuddles, and care based on each pet’s individual needs and routine. I’m patient with shy or nervous animals and always take the time to help them feel comfortable with me. 🐾💕
“Another great session. Arrived on time, cleaned up afterwards. Brought in some packages, controlled the dogs when a maintenance worker arrived without advance notice. Pups love her! Thanks so much!”

About: I take pride in making pets feel comfortable woth me at all times. Ive been around animals my whole life. Ive chosen to volunteer my time and money to help local strays and have a big heart when it comes to taking care of all animals. I currently make my own schedule and I have older children. As long as I have the notice I have no problem making the time. I would love to walk through with owners for to make sure I know all the details of what pets needs and wants. I want to make this a joyful experience for everyone.

About: I’m reliable and loving. I’d love to be connected with your fur babies. Any age is fine with me. I have a puppy and a senior. Think about this summer when you are out having fun and have to rush home to feed or walk your pet. I don't overnight in my home or yours because I have four animals of my own. Sorry. I’m retired and have a very flexible schedule. Most any time of day . Night time in a well lit area is preferred for me I don't overnight here or at you home as I have to be here for my own pets. But I can spend the day .
“Hudson looooves Carley! She is super communicative, kind, and overall a really great pup sitter. She came by our house to hang with Hudson and let him out for potty breaks and some sunbathing time. Will absolutely hire Carley again.”

About: We are a household of animal lovers! Both my husband and I have had dogs and cats all of our lives, even spent time training dogs to be good citizens and therapy dogs. We currently have four dogs and two kids. All of our dogs are rescues. They are super lovable and playful. We also volunteer for a beagle rescue and foster dogs. Your pets will get lots of snuggles and playtime when we watch and walk them. For visits and walks, your pup will love the snuggles and time spent playing and walking your area (or even going for a car ride or to a walking trail or dog park). For cat visits, we will give playtime indoors. We have helped many family members and friends with pet care when they are away. We have experience in all diets, giving oral meds and senior dog care. We hope that you will give our services a try. I am self employed and work from home. Typically available for mid day let out/walk. If your pet stays with us we have a great yard for play and we do multiple walks a day. We regularly foster dogs so our dogs are very comfortable with other dogs visiting. We treat any dog that stays with us or that we visit just like our own. We provide a loving, fun place for your pet while you are away.
“Kristin was awesome! I was able to contact her last minute about Stevie and she was able to come out the next day to help me out. Her and Stevie got along the second she walked in. I would recommend her to anyone who needs to leave their pet behind because they’ll be in good hands!”

About: I have had many dogs and cared for many others. It is a true labor of love for me and something I really love doing. I’m retired so my schedule is super flexible. Whatever your schedule I can probably accommodate it. Give me a try and let’s see if we can work it out. I love them but I don’t board dogs (sorry). Couldn’t negotiate that successfully with my wife. I do love spending time with them on walks or in your home.

“Dina was amazing! Ours was a very last minute request and she was incredibly accommodating on such short notice. She took excellent care of our golden doodle puppy and we could tell that she really cares! She was very responsive and provided updates often during/after her visits. Highly recommended Dina!!”

About: I have loved taking care of friend's and family's pets whenever there is a need. I am very active and enjoy taking walks and playing! As I am a stay at home Mom, my schedule is very flexible. I go on walks with my own dog and play fetch daily! I have a fenced in yard and a friendly black lab to keep your pup company! There is also plenty of room for space if needed.
About: I grew up with a Weimaraner who was our family dog for years. Two years ago, I rescued a puppy from a shelter in South Carolina and trained her myself — she's now energetic, well-behaved, and a total sweetheart, so I know what it takes to work with young, high-energy dogs. We also have two rescue cats at home, one of whom needed to be bottle-fed as a kitten, so I'm comfortable with more delicate or high-needs care too. I've been around dogs and cats my whole life, at every stage — puppies, seniors, and everything in between — and I treat every pet like it's my own. I work remotely, so I'm home most of the day, which means feeding, walks, and check-ins happen on a consistent schedule rather than being squeezed in around a commute or office hours. If a pet needs a midday walk, a bathroom break, or just some company, I'm already there for it. I'm also an active person by nature — I played soccer for years and still love running and being outdoors — so walks and playtime are things I genuinely enjoy, not just tasks to check off. I'm naturally attentive too — I notice when something feels off with a pet, whether it's energy level, appetite, or mood, and I'd rather over-communicate with an owner than assume everything's fine. In my home (boarding): Pets have full run of a comfortable, pet-proofed space — not crated or confined all day. I stick close to their normal routine (same feeding times, walk schedule, etc.) so the transition feels as seamless as possible, and I send photo/video updates throughout their stay so you always know how they're doing. In your home (house sitting): I follow your exact routine — feeding times, walk schedules, medications, and any specific instructions you leave. I treat the house like I would my own: pets stay comfortable in their own space, mail and packages get brought in, and I keep you updated with regular check-ins. Drop-ins & walks: I show up on time and give pets my full attention for the visit — no rushing through it. That means real walks (not just a quick lap), fresh water, playtime, and a few extra minutes of company if they want it. I always send a summary and photos after each visit so you know exactly how things went.

The search is officially over! 😊 I finally found my go to cat sitter! Val was absolutely amazing with Red and Sam. From the very beginning, she made me feel completely at ease. She was always punctual and dependable, and I could tell she genuinely cared about my boys and wasn’t just stopping by to feed them and leave. I LOVED getting all the pictures and little updates from every visit. She kept me posted on what they were doing, how they were eating, and their daily antics. She even monitored how many times they peed and pooped! 😂 Now THAT is attention to detail! It honestly made such a huge difference while we were on vacation because I knew she was really paying attention to how they were doing. I never once felt like I needed to cut our trip short because I knew Red and Sam were in great hands. Finding someone you completely trust with your fur babies is not easy, so I’m incredibly happy we found Val. I would 1000% recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, dependable, and trustworthy pet sitter. She is truly one of a kind and will absolutely be our go to person from now on. I’m pretty sure Red and Sam are wondering when Val is coming back. 😂❤️🐾

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
