Pet care is not something I fit around another job. It is my full time profession, and I have intentionally built my daily schedule around providing reliable, attentive care for my clients and their pets. Because this is my business, I am able to plan my days with flexibility and prioritize consistency, routine, and comfort for the animals in my care. I am deeply passionate about both my work and the peace of mind it provides to pet owners. Caring for other people’s pets is something I take seriously, and I treat every visit with the same level of attention and responsibility I would expect for my own animals. With advance notice, I am available 24 seven for scheduled care, including overnights, drop ins, and extended visits. I also offer emergency visits for established clients when unexpected situations arise, subject to availability. This added flexibility allows my clients to feel supported, even when plans change. My goal is to be a dependable, long term care provider that pet owners can trust to be there when they need it most.

I understand that inviting a pet sitter into your home requires a high level of trust, and I take that responsibility seriously. I am licensed, insured, bonded, and background checked, and I also come with letters of reference that speak to my professionalism, reliability, and integrity. I am mindful of home security, privacy, and routines, and I follow all client instructions carefully. This includes locking up properly, respecting personal spaces, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment during every visit. Before care begins, I ask pet parents to share a few important details about their pet so I can provide safe, stress-free, and personalized care. This includes your pet’s daily routine, personality and energy level, likes and dislikes, training cues, any fears or behavioral quirks, medical needs or medications, vet and emergency contact information, and house rules. Knowing this ahead of time helps me keep your pet comfortable, maintain their normal routine, and respond quickly if anything unexpected comes up.
A typical day
For dogs: -Engaging walks tailored to their pace and energy -Playtime with favorite toys like fetch, tug, or sniff games -Basic training reinforcement like sit, stay, leash manners, or fun tricks -Mental enrichment such as treat puzzles or hide-and-seek games -Extra cuddle time for dogs who prefer affection over high energy play For cats: -Interactive play with wand toys, lasers, or toy mice -Window watching and enrichment time -Gentle brushing if they enjoy it -Quiet companionship for shy or senior cats -Respectful space for independent cats, with check-ins and routine care For small animals and exotics: -Safe handling and socialization if appropriate -Enrichment during feeding and habitat care -One-on-one interaction based on species comfort level -Calm, consistent routines to reduce stress

My experience includes working in animal rescue and volunteering, where I cared for animals of all species, temperaments, and medical needs. I have extensive experience with puppies, senior pets, and special-needs animals, including those requiring medications, mobility support, or extra patience and structure. After another sitter canceled last minute, Emily was able to come in and watch my cats on short notice (over the holiday, at that!) She always did her check-ins in a timely manner and provided detailed updates. I’m very happy and would book with her again.
Emily started walking our two big dogs about a year ago. She was great with both of them from the start, and they looked forward to her coming every day. We lost our female lab to an Addison’s Disease crisis several months ago and we worried how our male mastiff mix was going to handle it, especially walking alone. He’s very reactive to other dogs, but Emily was always able to handle him well, even when confronted with off-leash dogs. She’s competent, confident and very trustworthy. We’re all going to miss her!!
Emily-Sarah was phenomenal. She not only cared for my pets, but also my home while I was away. She was caring for my pets when a snowstorm hit northern Virginia. The power went out and there was 2 1/2 feet of snow, when deliveries couldn’t come through, she made her way to the store to make sure that they all had their proper food. Upon return to the house, she had shoveled my driveway and brought a space heater to make sure that my pets were not cold. She went above and beyond to ensure that my pets and house were safe. I absolutely would recommend her more than anybody else for your pet care needs.
I’ve had the pleasure of having Sarah care for my dog, Ella, and my cat, KeKe, for many years. Whenever I’m away, I have complete peace of mind knowing my babies are in the best hands. I fully trust Sarah in my home — so much so that I’ve even given her her own key.
