“Thank you Brittany for taking good care of Max. He was in really good hands and you gave him a lot of cuddles while we were away. We’ll make sure to contact you again the next we’re out of town. Definitely recommend you.”

“Sophia was fantastic: completely reliable,conscientious, and kind to our kitty. I was so relieved to have such a great pet sitter. We were able to relax on our vacation knowing she was taking such good care of LuluBelle. Highly recommend!”

“Lorrie was so kind . I had her come and meet us for the first time, as we search for dog sitters. Lorrie got on the floor and just sat and pet Cali as we talked; Cali took right to her :) I will definitely be calling on Lorrie for her drop-in services.”

“Aimee was great and super helpful, as well as extremely responsive which made the whole experience better. She took great care of my cat and will be someone I look to continue to use for him in the future.”

“It was hard having to leave our puppy Tucker (3months old when Chris first met him) with a stranger, but Chris has been amazing with him, giving us peace of mind knowing that he is in good hands. Very reliable and trutworthy, Chris has always honored the appointments we've made (visiting him twice a day) and followed the instructions we've left him. Tucker is relaxed and happy when we get home and we have to thank him for that. ”

“Laura was so amazing with Finn! She provided updates throughout the visits and sent great pics. She watched him while I had my wedding and it was so nice to know he was in good hands!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, birds, and other small animals since I was 10 years old. I have experience walking, boarding , and daily care. I love animals and provide kind and sensitive care . I work from home Monday-Friday and go into the office one day per month. My dog passed away in November 2023 so I would really love to have some dog energy in my life again. I currently work full time from home Monday through Friday. I have flexible time throughout the day to care for animals in my home or in the pet owners home. I have a yard and a nice neighborhood to go on long walks . I can easily store a crate in my home if needed. I can also visit your pet in their home several times a day to provide care or walks.
“This is the second time we have booked Teresa for our senior kitties and they could not be in better hands. They are extremely well cared for when she comes to visit with them and it is a relief to know that she is there. She anticipates needs and communicates them clearly and efficiently. We love having her watch over our cats and hope to book with her again soon.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs that my family had ever since I was 10 years old. I have experience with dogs of all sizes and personalities due to my job as a vet technician! I currently have a Portuguese Water Dog who I take on daily trail walks or to the field for exercise and play. I prioritize safety, fun, and lots of love—I treat every dog like family. I can help reinforce basic commands, provide mental stimulation games, and keep you updated with photos and videos so you feel connected while you’re away. Whether your pup needs long walks, playtime, or just extra snuggles, I’ll make sure they’re happy and cared for like my own! I currently Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for majority of the day until around 4 pm. Monday and Tuesday I have off of work so I am totally free those days. I would be able to help with pet care after my job the days I work or anytime during my off days! I know plenty of dog-friendly fields/parks and scenic trails where your pup can enjoy exercise and mental stimulation in a secure way. At home, I have a friendly Portuguese Water Dog who loves to play. Dogs are welcome on the bed and furniture for maximum comfort—just like family at my place!
“Helena did a great job taking care of our two cats for a week. She came at the agreed-upon time each day, gave them lots of love, pets, and playtime, and sent us pictures that helped us not miss them quite as much; although that’s hard, of course! We felt very comfortable knowing they were in good hands. Highly recommend!”

“Chelsea was wonderful! She helped me in a pinch and gave my pup so much love and care. She's an expert and was communicative, on time, and consistent. She employed her knowledge about animal health to treat my dogs anxiety and queasy belly while I was away. She was super sweet to talk to as well! I am grateful and will be using her again!”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life! I grew up with two dogs and a cat, so caring for animals has always come naturally to me. Now that I’ve moved out on my own, I really miss having pets around and would love the opportunity to spend time with yours! I know how much pets mean to their families, and I’ll treat your furry family members with the same love, patience, and attention I would give my own. Whether it’s going for walks, playing, cuddling, or simply keeping them company, I want to make sure your pet feels happy, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I’m excited to meet new furry friends and help give pet parents peace of mind knowing their pets are in loving hands. I can’t wait to meet you and your pets! I work a hybrid schedule. I’m in office Tuesday - Thursday and home Friday - Monday. I’m in office for 8 hours, but able to come home for an hour in the middle of the day. I live in a pet friendly apartment that has its own fenced in dog park as well as off leash run area. It also has plenty of walking trails for nice long walks.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Worrell
I have a very large, loud, high energy dog, so finding a sitter can be a little nerve wracking for me. However, having Sophia watch him has been such a weight off my shoulders! She's communicative, punctual, great at photos, and willing to adjust for what your dog needs. Him being a barker and needing medication didn't phase her. Plus, you can feel the care she has for the pets she watches. She just genuinely likes hanging out with my dog, which is awesome! Whenever I need a sitter, Sophia will be who I reach out to first. I would recommend her to anyone.

Mary did a wonderful job checking in on my dog Rocco, who is a high energy dog. She took him out for potty breaks, fed him, gave him fresh water, and spent time playing - burning off energy. She sent the cutest picture which I really appreciated. When I got home, he was calm and happy. Highly recommend!
Another wonderful experience with Anne Marie! Our kitties love her - they hide for other people, but routinely greet her at the door when she visits, sit with her, and get pets! We always appreciate the updates and photos, and just all-around kindness Anne Marie provides. She truly gives us peace of mind when we're away, knowing that our cats are well cared for. 💜

Nicole is amazing! I was gone for 3 weeks and needed someone reliable to check in on my cat. She was so responsive and brought in any packages we got. We got updates and pictures of our baby daily. I definitely will be asking Nicole to watch our kitty in the future.

I can’t say enough great things about Sara! She is so very considerate and plays so well with my cat, she totally tires him out when she’s here! :) Very thoughtful too!!! I highly recommend her! She goes above and beyond by being so helpful! She is truly the best!

Carol did a wonderful job caring for our cats. She was prompt, thorough, and very responsive throughout our time away. We especially appreciated how well she kept us updated with photos and regular check-ins. We felt confident knowing our cats were in great hands and would definitely recommend her!

I couldn’t be happier with the care Rusty received. Kristen was incredibly loving and attentive throughout the four days she cared for him. She spent quality time with him every morning and afternoon, talking to him, petting him, cuddling him, and making sure he felt loved while I was away. She kept his litter box clean and was thoughtful and attentive throughout her visits. It gave me such peace of mind knowing Rusty was in such caring hands. I would definitely book her again!

Chen is excellent with my reactive dog. She has a gentle and confident approach and instinctively knows how to manage my dog's anxiety and quickly made her feel comfortable with her. Now they are pals. I highly recommend Chen as a pet sitter especially if your pet has any fear/anxiety/special needs issues!

Amber watched our cat Loona and we couldn't asked for anyone better to take care of her! We came back to a happy Loona and our place honestly looked cleaner than how we left it. She even put our cat food order away when it arrived while we were gone. Would definitely book again!
Taylor is wonderful to work with, Buddy loves her, but Batman is always a no show since he is so shy. Taylor stayed in touch with me the entire time I was out of the country and sent updated pictures. We will be requiring her services again in March which has already been discussed.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
