“Heather was absolutely fantastic! She was extremely communicative from start to finish and has such a warm, positive personality. Our Boston Terrier, Lukin, is usually very anxious, but he did great with her — which says a lot! She took wonderful care of both him and our house while we were away. We really appreciated her updates and photos which kept us at ease. I can’t recommend Heather enough — she’s truly awesome and we will definitely be booking her again!”

“Brad did a fantastic job caring for our senior Greyhound in our home during an international trip. He was communicative, responsive, and asked questions when needed to ensure he was providing the best care for our girl. I’m very grateful that Brad’s professionalism allowed us to have a worry-free vacation! And a bonus- the house looks even better than when we left it.”
“I highly recommend Leigh. She took amazing care of my elderly dog. Leigh sends a lot pictures to see your animals day. She left the house near and tidy, she even took my garbage out to the curb without me asking. She is wonderful!”

“When we got home after 5 days away, I swear our dog was disappointed to see us instead of Shanisa! I received daily photos and videos with updates of our dog and cat while we were away, and she was very communicative leading up to and throughout her stay. She will be the first person we reach out to in the future when we need a house/petsitter!”
“Excellent expirience all around. This was our first time using Rover after our original sitter fell through. Chris was fantastic at communicating and sent so many updates and photos we felt like our dogs were with us on our trip. Chris not only let our dogs out and fed them but really cared for them and made sure they were happy and comfortable while we were gone. We will absolutely use Chris again!”

“Dylan did an excellent job dog sitting Louie for four days and three nights while we were away. He was attentive and did a great job of keeping to Louie’s daily routines with walks, feeding and medication. We would definitely recommend Dylan and would use him again in the future.”

“Jackie was wonderful! She accommodated our request last minute—and sent great pictures of our puppy! If I were to travel to Wilmington again, I would feel very comfortable asking Jackie to help us again!”

“I and my dog Mosquito couldn't have been happier with Nina. I was traveling for two weeks and this was the first time Mosquito and I would be separated. He is a rescue and has separation anxiety but not with Nina's company and dog/house sitting services. The transition for him was seamless. Highly recommended!”

“Lesley was wonderful! Very communicative and detail oriented, making sure she kept a good routine for our dog Lucy. She also did so many helpful household tasks like bringing in our mail and packages (some large) and refilling our dog food container for us before we got home. Would absolutely book again!”

“The most amazing experience with Elisa!! She was incredibly awesome with our very shy 2 dogs. She was extremely patient to gain their trust (not easy to do BTW lol) to the point that they even slept with her after getting to know her- that is how good she is! We loved Elisa and definitely will be our -go to- from now on every time we need a doggy sitter. Our girls got a new bestie with Elisa!”

“June stayed in our home. Ike was well cared for, happy and relaxed when we got home. Communication was clear, and everything went smoothly. We’d definitely hire her again.”

“Lillie did a great job with her drop in and overnight visit with our Lexi. She is a very conscientious individual who kept us well Informed of everything that was happening while we were away. We felt extremely comfortable with her caring for our 15 year old cockapoo while we were away and we definitely will use her again in the future. Beth”

“Bobbi was 1000% amazing! She was very communicative and put us at ease while we were away knowing our pups were so well cared for all the time. Bobbi sent several photos and took great care of our home. Bobbi left a daily record of events. Our pups were clearly cared for and we will definitely trust Bobbi again! I would give her 10 stars if I could!!”

“Leslie provided exceptional care for our dogs! She was thorough with communications, messages, and picture updates for the 5 days we were away, she was very affectionate to our dogs, spent lots of time keeping our dogs and cat company, and kept good watch over our home. I would highly recommend Leslie for your pets, and we already plan to use her for another trip next month!”

About: Hi,I’m Julia and just retired from my job of 31 years in a Dental office as an assistant.I was looking for something totally different to do with my free time now.I put 50 years because I’ve always been around animals since a young age.We had 2 beagles when I was growing up and after I married went on to have an English Setter,Doberman pinscher and later Chihuahua mix.I have also had cats.I just got done watching a coworkers 2 dogs on March 28th and now going to watch my nieces 3 cats for a week.Which had me think about doing this with others. They will be cared for with love to you get back.Julia I am retired and can be available with a day notice, for just days or overnight in your house.I would need to meet and greet beforehand. I will be watching pets in the clients house where it stays familiar for them.I will follow instructions given in taking care of your pet.

About: I have 10 years of professional experience working with shelter animals and have cared for hundreds of dogs and cats of all ages, personalities, and needs. From shy and fearful pets who need extra time to warm up, to high-energy dogs still learning their manners, seniors who prefer a slower pace, and animals with ongoing medical needs, I’m comfortable meeting each pet where they are. I know firsthand that introducing an unfamiliar person can be challenging for dogs who are nervous, selective, or protective of their space. I’m happy to meet your pup as many times as needed to help them feel safe and comfortable with me before being left in my care. I’m experienced in reading canine body language, respecting boundaries, building trust, redirecting overstimulation, and working with dogs who may need a little more patience than others! Over the past five years, I’ve also fostered dozens of dogs and cats, often specifically taking in animals who need additional training, socialization, confidence-building, or time to decompress outside of a shelter environment. This has given me plenty of hands-on experience with everything from house and crate training to leash manners, enrichment, separation concerns, dog-to-dog interactions, and helping nervous animals settle into a routine. I also have two years of veterinary technician experience and am comfortable administering medications and caring for pets with medical needs. Most importantly, I understand that every pet is an individual. Whether yours is a social butterfly who wants to be my best friend immediately, a senior who just wants a leisurely walk and couch time, or a nervous pup who needs me to earn their trust first, I’m happy to care for them at their pace! I understand the stigma around certain breeds, and can assure you that I have a clear understanding of what to expect with each. My current client list includes breeds such as Cane Corso, Belgian Malinois, Husky, Newfoundland, German Shorthair Pointer, Labrador, Poodle, and, of course, many mixed breed cuties rescued from the shelter! I am currently employed full-time, though I have a flexible schedule that allows hybrid/remote work. This has allowed me flexibility with owners, as I can freely adjust my schedule to meet your pets needs! I prefer to stick to what your pet is most comfortable with. I’ve stayed with some animals that prefer their space, and others that prefer more attention. Each dog is different, so I am here to accommodate their own needs and wants!

Tracy is the best! I never have to worry about Ace's care while Im away. I can simply enjoy myself and that is priceless. The house is left as neat as a pin and she even washes the sheets for me. I absolutely love the attention and care she gives to my fur baby.
Stephanie was did a wonderful job taking Clara on her long walks and sent lots of pictures. The house was in perfect shape when we returned and we had peace of mind that our dog was well cared for on our first trip away from her. We will definitely book her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 4,664 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Winterthur. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Winterthur walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Winterthur maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Winterthur choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Winterthur. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
