“Sabrina was fantastic. She was thankfully available for a last minute house sitting with Franklin. He's a rescue so it can be tricky getting him used to folks. She had no problem getting him out for walks and hanging out with him. Truly appreciative!”

“Heather was great with our 75 pound yellow lab, Whitby. Simply said, she is a fantastic dog/home sitter. Heather being present allowed my wife and I to truly vacation without concern for how our pup is being cared for. We look forward to working with Heather again soon.”

“Olivia watched our dog and cat while we traveled of the country for a 6-day vacation. This was my first experience not having family member watch our fur babies for a big trip, and I was anxious at first. But, Olivia made the experience fabulous! She sent cute pictures and updates regularly so we were able to focus on and enjoy the vacation while knowing the pets were happy at home. I returned home to cheerful pets and a clean house! I'm truly grateful for Olivia!! Thank you, thank you!!!”

“Dylan was excellent. Our pup got an injury while we were away. He handled things gracefully, remained calm and got the pup to the vet for care. I would recommend and use his services again.”

“Teresa was wonderful! Very good at getting back to me letting me know everything was ok and I loved getting pictures of course. I would definitely use her again and recommend her services if you are looking !”

“We were very pleased having Chris here at our home to watch our Corgi Mickey. Mickey wasn’t feeling his best and Chris kept us well informed and sent photos of Mickey to reassure us that all was well. We plan to have her come again the next time we need to go out for a long period of time. Chris was awesome!”

“Leslie was amazing! She stayed at my house for a whole week with my two dogs. She kept me informed numerous times of the day. My dogs loved her and my house was in great order when I got home! I felt so comfortable with Leslie’s care! I will definitely book her again! She is very professional, respectful and kind:)”

“Brad did a fantastic job caring for our senior Greyhound in our home during an international trip. He was communicative, responsive, and asked questions when needed to ensure he was providing the best care for our girl. I’m very grateful that Brad’s professionalism allowed us to have a worry-free vacation! And a bonus- the house looks even better than when we left it.”
“Matthew showed up on time and followed instructions for our dog. He updated me throughout the day and night. He did great watching her and we will definitely be rebooking in the future!”

“Taylor was amazing. I went away for the weekend and have literally never left my dog without anyone but family before. I was so nervous. But Taylor came over for a meet and great before and gave me complete confidence. I was able to enjoy my weekend without worrying about my dog or what was going on at home. She even got my pup out of the apartment when the fire alarm suddenly went off! So sad she is leaving the area after graduation or I would definitely book her again!”

“Renee was awesome! Super prompt, easy to communicate with, and really detail-oriented. She took great care of both my home and pup, and everything looked exactly the same as when I left. I’ll definitely be booking her again”

“Shannon is the absolute GREATEST! She’s professional, communicative and took amazing care of our animals. She’s not our first Rover but I'm hoping she’ll be our last! I am so relieved we found her and will always be our go to for when we need our pets looked after. 11/10. Thank you Shannon!”

“Cole was spectacular with our older basset hounds. He was able to get both of them on walks (not easy with one being a little grumpy with new people). Both dogs while happy to see us, didn’t seem like they had been stressed while we were away- a big improvement for us! Cole also kept our home on great order, dealt with a clogged sink, and even watered my plants (without me asking!). We can’t wait to use him again for future times away- the boys seemed to enjoy his presence.”

About: I pet sit for my neighbors when they go away, I'll stay with them and make sure they're okay throughout the night. I also walk their dogs when they need me to while they're at work or stuck out longer than they expected. I was also walking for another company for a while. I own two cats and two dogs of my own. I'm very sociable with animals and can take care of many different kinds. I've also worked with multiple different breeds of dogs and cats. Big dogs and small dogs alike. As well as different breeds of cats. I've also worked with lizards and bearded dragons, and guinea pigs. Any animal you may have, I can take care of for you, without any type of issue! I’m currently doing online school for the summer and there is no set times that I need to be on doing schoolwork. I’ll be free at any time! When a client books with me for the first time, I always make sure to meet the dog while the owners are there so the dog can see that I’m okay to be in their home.
About: I’ve been taking care of friends and family’s pets for a couple years now. I took an animal science class in high school to better understand the care and handling of animals. I am equipped to play with, walk, feed, and bathe your pet. I’m currently a full time student, so the days that I am in class I cannot provide service to your animals, but all the other days of the week I am free to take care of them with the promise of my full attention. I have a fenced in yard, no other pets. I am able to walk your dog on a leash, or crate them if need be. I prefer to watch the pets at your home.

Dylan was amazing!! He was 100% ok with giving our cat her topical medicine twice a day along with managing our super energetic, sometimes stubborn dog. We forgot to leave a few things out and he communicated right away and managed getting everything needed. He sent update pics that made us feel good while we were away. We'll definitely be rebooking with Dylan again! Highly recommend :)

FAQs for House Sitting - Centreville
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 4,679 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Centreville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Centreville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Centreville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Centreville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Centreville. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
