“Riley loved spending the day with Dawn and got loads of play time with her other dogs, she was lovely and made us feel super comfortable leaving her for the day. Will definitely be going back again!”

“Cindy is a wonder! My scaredy-dog loves her, and went to her willingly even though it had been a long time since his last visit. She asked if I’d like her to give him a bath, and that was a very welcome addition. Thank you Cindy!”

About: Hi! My husband and I have both had dogs since we were young kids. We currently have a senior dog (female) and a puppy (male 11months). Both are Australian shepherds. We also have two kids (6 and 8). We have a lot of experience with dogs of all ages and needs. :) We have a fenced in yard and our puppy would love someone to play with during the day. I am home with my kids pretty much all summer, so I’m available most of the day. Dogs will need to be good with other dogs and young children as well as spayed/neutered. We have a puppy, so I am in and out all day to take him outside and play with him. I am also home with my kids all summer, so we are at home a lot! I have a fenced in yard and two friendly dogs to keep your pup company. They are both crate trained, although our senior dog is left out when we leave. I have an extra small crate (or you can bring one). We love dogs and would treat yours like our own.
“Sheri was incredible. Made plenty of time for our dog and made sure he was comfortable and received lots of care. Sent pics and updates throughout the day. Will 100% call her again if we need a sitter!”

“Ashley took great care of my Facui. She get very nervous in new environments, but Ashley took her in like she was one of her own. Provided numerous photos of playtime. Very flexible and accommodating.”

“I’m so grateful for Pamela & Paul. They make every effort to do what is best for my dog (exercise, food, social) and let me know if there’s a concern. My dog is so very happy when she sees we have arrived at their house. She can’t wait to go inside.”

“Huge thanks to Caroline for making Brownie’s very first day care experience such a positive one! She even picked Brownie up and dropped him off at my location and was flexible when I had to change our time. Thank you Caroline!”

“Great with my little one she is old and spoiled Chihuahua and she just keeps getting spoiled. Loves the yard to run in and play with the bigger dogs sometimes. But the best part is she is worn out by the time we get home. And they are so flexible with my crazy schedule.”

“Katharine was so responsive and kind as I navigate a last minute work trip. Her house was obviously a pups heaven and I was so grateful that my dogs, Swoosh and Frankie, were able to stay with Katharine and Louie (x2) for a few hours. If we’re ever back in Richmond, Katharine will always be our first call!”

About: I have grown up with dogs and cats since infancy and I started petsitting professionally for neighbors, friends, family and others at age 12. Now, I love providing petsitting, dogsitting and petcare services for animals on the side. I have two well-behaved indoor cats of my own and they have many "cousins" (my mom bred Shelties and currently owns three, in addition to a kitten and my sister has a rescue pup). I have fostered moms with kittens from the SPCA. I am patient, kind, loving and caring for furry-faced friends brings me much joy and fulfillment! I currently take care of my best friend’s Maine Coon when she is out of town and on weekdays, I let out and play with her Corgi and lab puppy mid day. I also Petsit for neighbors as needed and have long term relationships with families whose dogs and cats I have taken care of for going on 6+ years! I work full time but it is regular 9-5 Mon through Fri hours and it is a remote job so I work from home. I am available in the mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and can check in on pets during the day if needed. I have petsat for many folks while working full-time without any issues, and have already established a great routine for petsitting while working remotely! I live in a spacious two bedroom, two bathroom apartment. I have two friendly, well-behaved indoor cats who are familiar with dogs, cats and pets and have had foster cats, kittens and dogs in our apartment with no fights or problems! We do not have a yard, but the apartment is pet-friendly, in the suburbs, in a safe neighborhood and has lots of sidewalks, grassy areas and space for dog walking, etc. There is even a fenced-in dog park a minute from our apartment, in the complex! :) Our apartment is clean, spacious and has plenty of blankets, furniture and space for fuzzy-faced kiddos! I work full time but remotely and it’s easy for me to fit pet care into that routine! Having a flexible schedule allows me to work around your pets’ needs! I am flexible and am comfortable caring for your fur baby in my home or yours! Have provided both services over the years. Just let me know what best suits you!
“Ms. Paula felt just like home. Like I was leaving my baby with my parents. I was so comfortable and at ease during our visit. My child did not miss me at all and I knew she was in good hands. Haribo is an excellent helper lol. He is equally as sweet as Ms. Paula. I will definitely be using her again in the future.”

“Bentley really enjoyed his dog sit with Aileen and her family. Everything went well. Kept me informed of how much fun he was having and sent pictures. Will definitely be rebooking in the future.”

“William was great with Church and very attentive throughout the day. He made sure Church was comfortable, safe, and well cared for, and I appreciated the communication and updates. It gave me peace of mind knowing Church was in good hands. I would definitely book again and recommend him to others looking for reliable doggy day care.”

About: I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I take the time to learn each pet’s unique personality, routine, and needs so they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Whether it’s energetic walks, playtime, cuddle sessions, or sticking to a detailed care schedule, I’m committed to providing dependable, attentive care. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your furry family member is happy and in good hands. I’m currently working fully remote, and I choose my own hours, so I’m available anytime of day. I’m willing to work with you and your pet’s needs to ensure your furry friend remains on their consistent routines. I believe pets are happiest when they can stay in the comfort of their own home and stick to their normal routine. During each visit, I make sure they have fresh food and water, plenty of potty breaks or a clean litter box, exercise and playtime, and lots of love and attention. I also administer medications if needed, reinforce any routines you’ve established, and keep your home tidy by cleaning up after your pet. After every visit, I’ll send you updates and photos so you can see how your pet is doing and have peace of mind while you’re away.
“Nina was caring, communicative, and kind! She gave our pup lots of exercise during daycare and he was so happy, sleepy, and content once we picked him up. Highly recommend :)”

About: Hi! I’m here to make being away from your pet feel a little easier. I know how important updates, communication, and consistency are when trusting someone with your furry family member. My goal is for you to feel completely comfortable and confident while your pet is in my care. I provide dependable, attentive care tailored to your pet’s personality and routine — whether that means long walks, playtime, cuddle time, slow introductions, medication support, or simply keeping things calm and predictable. I send regular photo updates and communicate clearly so you always know how your pet is doing. I treat every pet like they’re my own and every client relationship like it matters long term, not just for one booking. I've had dogs all my life and am currently a dog mom to my sweet mixed breed. She's been with us for almost 2 years and is a joy to our household. We do not have any other animals, but I did grow up in a veritable zoo (Rabbits, birds, dogs, cats, goats, fish and chickens)! I'm happy to learn and adapt to your needs. I'm a stay at home mom and so my availability is quite flexible. I only ask that your furry baby is friendly with other kids and dogs. Your furry baby will be treated as one of my own. Each dog will join in on family playtime, walks and of course lots of scritch scratches! I'm currently a stay at home mom with both kids in school. I'll have plenty of time to care for your furry baby. I have a dog of my own, so if we are boarding or doing doggy day care, your pup will have a doggy playmate! Every dog is different, so I’d love to hear about your dog’s quirks, routines, and what helps them feel safe and comfortable. I do my best to keep things as familiar and stress-free as possible. I have a fully fenced in back yard and a dog to keep your pup company. I also have elementary aged kids in my home who are very familiar in how to handle dogs. Our dog is fully vaccinated. Our yard is free of pesticides and chemicals.
“I feel so lucky that we found Virginia! She took our high energy dog in very last minute and provided her with phenomenal care. Virginia was responsive and sent a ton of pictures throughout her stay, which my partner and I really appreciated. I definitely hope to book with her again in the future!”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Westchester commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 618 sitters in Westchester, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
