“Samantha and her family are amazing. Honestly. My first time boarding my 3 month old puppy and they made it so easy. Communication and kindness!! Such genuine people. Thank you for everything!!”

“Kassandra and Johnathan were great with our Puppy Leo! He is a big ball of energy and they were great with him and he loved playing with their dog Charlie. I would recommend to anyone in the area and will definitely bring Leo back when we need boarding again!”

“Jannice was wonderful! From the moment we met, I could tell she loves animals. Our dog Lili took to her right away. I highly recommend her! You can’t trust just anyone with your furry baby, but I know I can trust Jannice. - Caroline”

“Lydia was absolutely wonderful with my dog Paddy, I couldn’t have asked for a better Rover sitter. She went above and beyond to make sure my pup was happy and comfortable the entire time. She sent multiple pictures and updates every day, which gave me a lot of peace of mind, it was clear they were truly spending quality time together. They even did activities like yoga and went on multiple car rides, which I loved seeing. When I came to pick Paddy up after a few days, she didn’t even want to leave Lydia, which says everything about how well she was cared for and how much attention and affection she received. I would highly recommend Lydia to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and caring pet sitter. I will absolutely book with her again!”

“Cache was patient and responsible and we’d happily hire her again. Our dog can be challenging but seemed to love her and as happy when we picked her up. Cache’s calm demeanor was just what our dog needs. 😍”

“Jenifer took great care of Jax, encouraging the manners we have trained him with, giving him plenty of attention and exercise, as well as provide updates to us throughout the weekend. She is very communicative and accommodating with pick up and drop and just a genuinely nice human who loves dogs. we would absolutely recommend her and book with her again.”

“I had to leave town suddenly and Maggie was extremely accommodating to leaving my dog overnight. I only had to bring his food and leash because she had everything else he needed. I got amazing pictures of my grumpy old dog happily playing with her dogs. I am pretty sure he didn't want to leave either. She also gave me great tips on different ways train with him. Maggie is the best when it comes to dogs!”
“Jayla was patient with Luna (she's kind of a chicken) eventually Luna warmed up to her and seemed to have a blast. Jayla did a good job of keeping us updated and responding to my check in texts. Luna really liked her, I would use Jayla again to watch my fur monster”

“Phelan took great care of Sadie and made her feel right at home! She's a great communicator and she sent us lots of updates and pictures of Sadie. We look forward to bringing Sadie over again!”

“Frances and her family are amazing! Our sweet girl Dolly was in the best hands and we are so grateful that she got so much activity and attention. Frances was very easy to communicate with and gave plenty of pictures which made my day. Would absolutley re-book and reccomend”

“Paige seemed right at home when I arrived. Glad to see me, but in no rush to leave. Jonathan was very attentive to her and it is apparent he has a natural ability with dogs.”
“Gillian is amazing! This is the longest we had to board our furbaby- almost three weeks. I could see how excited Biscuit was at drop-off, which made it easy for us to travel. Biscuit loves being at Gillian’s because he is treated like family. She also prepared fresh food for him, sent updates to us regularly and made his stay a vacation! Best sitter ever!”

“Stella had a great time while she stayed with Brad and Mery. When I dropped her off, Stella got a little nervous and had an accident and Brad was so kind and understanding about it. They sent pictures daily and updates regularly to ensure that we had the peace of mind that our fur-baby was well taken care of while we were away. Next time we go away we will definitely be booking with Brad and Mery again.”

“Mikkal’s place was perfect for our energetic pup. She had plenty of space to play and came home happy and tired out. Mikkal was very responsive and gave frequent updates. We will definitely be booking with him again in the future!”

I didn’t think it was possible for my puppy to be tired but she is wiped from her weekend with Net and her pack! She had the best time playing and I was able to enjoy my trip knowing she was safe in a great home. Net was so accommodating about my last minute trip and understanding of my flat tire on the way home! I received several updates each day and we were sent home with some goodies! Will absolutely use Net again in the future. Highly recommend!

We had a last minute need to find a caretaker for our 5 year old Goldendoodle. Jonathan responded promptly, and was wonderful with her! She tends to be a tad anxious in new settings, but he made her feel very comfortable almost immediately. He also sent us regular updates and photos. It gave me a peace of mind. Jonathan has a great vibe!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
