My best friend, Roquefort, a 13 year old Great Dane has been suffering with mobility issues, resulting from aging. Albert proved to be a godsend as I have commitments in NYC without someone to care for Roq in my absence. He strictly adhered to all the details of care we covered and even provided more. Albert's general demeanor was perfect as he is a calm person with sensitivities to the needs at hand. Handling Roq was not easy, as he is a large creature requiring assistance to move about. He made my apprehension fade, knowing he would provide devoted attendance to Roq's needs, with much gentle treatment and constant awareness of his needs. I'm very glad that Albert is now a resource.

About: I was lucky enough to grow up with dogs and cats my whole childhood and have never spent a day in my house without a pet there. I love animals so much and it brings me so much joy to connect with them. I understand the patience and empathy it takes to get to know an animal and for them to feel comfortable around us. One day I hope to open up an animal shelter of my own on a big plot of land somewhere in the country and provide support to all kinds of animals. I currently go to college but I have afternoons and weekends free to play and care for your babies. I have breaks in my day as well in case your doggies get lonely or need a walk! In my home we let the animals come and go as they please with the doggy door, but we try and take the dogs on a long walk once a day to keep em healthy. We feed them dry food in the morning and wet at night. I try and spend a lot of time with my pets to create a familiar bond with them.

About: I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember and have spent years caring for pets of all kinds. Growing up, I frequently fostered animals and volunteered at a local shelter, which gave me experience with pets of different ages, personalities, and needs. Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to walk, feed, play with, and care for their pets over the years. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and treat every pet as if they were my own. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or just extra cuddles and attention, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of availability throughout the week, which allows me to provide attentive and reliable care for your pets. I love being active and enjoy going on walks, so daily exercise and outdoor time are something I genuinely look forward to. Whether your pet needs a quick check-in, a long walk, or extended companionship, I’m happy to work with your schedule and your pet’s routine to make sure they stay comfortable and cared for. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and any special needs they may have so I can provide personalized care. Having fostered animals and volunteered at a shelter, I’m comfortable working with pets who may need extra patience, reassurance, or attention. I maintain a calm, caring environment and always follow owners’ instructions closely. You can expect regular updates, photos, and open communication so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in loving and responsible hands.

About: Hi, I’m Stephanie! A dependable, detail-oriented pet sitter based in the NYC/Hamptons with a genuine love for animals and providing high-quality care. I understand how important it is to have someone trustworthy, calm, and attentive looking after your pets and home while you’re away! I’m experienced with dogs of different sizes, temperaments, and routines, and I’m happy to accommodate everything from long beach walks and active playtime to slower-paced companionship and structured care. I prioritize communication, consistency, and making sure your pet feels comfortable, safe, and loved in their familiar environment. Whether you’re away for the weekend, spending time in the city, or traveling longer-term, I aim to provide a seamless, reliable experience and peace of mind for both you and your pet. I have flexibility in my remote work schedule where I can spend extra time with pets. I’m typically signed on from 9am-5pm with periodic meetings, but am able to step away for breaks during the workday. Ensure that your pet is comfortable with me! I usually prefer some extra time together when arriving to make sure they feel safe with me in your home.

About: I’ve loved dogs my whole life — I grew up with them and raised my own Chihuahua mix from a tiny puppy. Through her I got real, hands-on experience with crate training, leash walking, and basic commands, with a lot of professional training along the way. I’m great with puppies and happy to handle pills or meds if your dog needs them. What matters most to me is that every dog and family is different. Whatever routine and commands keep your dog feeling safe and loved, I’ll learn them and stick to them so your pup stays on their normal rhythm while you’re away. A few things that make me an easy guest in your home: I’m quiet, I don’t drink or smoke, and I don’t have pets or children of my own — so my full attention is on your dog and your space. I work remotely, so I’m flexibly available and your dog is rarely left alone. And as a Hamptons local, I understand the care families here expect for their pets and their homes. Because I work remotely with a flexible schedule, I build my day entirely around your dog. If your pup needs a walk every couple of hours, I can do that. If they’re happy with fewer, that works too. I love a good long walk, so if your dog does as well, we’ll have a great time — and if that’s not their thing, no problem at all. I’m also happy to do plenty of play and fetch in the backyard. Whatever level of activity your dog needs, I can provide it. I structure the day around their routine: when they eat, when they need breaks, when they want downtime. I’m mostly home, so your dog won’t be left alone for long. I do like to slip out for a yoga class here and there, but I’m always happy to talk through timing so it fits with what you and your dog are comfortable with. Since I’d be staying in your home, my focus is on two things: keeping your dog’s routine exactly as it should be, and treating your space with real respect. I’m extraordinarily committed to keeping your dog’s environment and schedule consistent — same routine, same rhythm, so they feel secure even while you’re away. And I see staying in someone’s home as a privilege. I’ll follow any house instructions you provide, and I’ll leave your home clean and just as I found it, if not better. I also know how nerve-wracking it can be to be away from your baby. When I had my own dog, I remember how much a quick photo and update meant to me — so I’ll keep you in the loop with regular updates so you can relax knowing your dog and your home are in good hands. Whatever you need to feel comfortable, I want to provide it.

Jennifer and Emily meet in the morning of the November 15. Emily can be very shy. She immediately like Jennifer. I certainly did too! She is so sweet. She talked so nicely with Emily. We disgusted how she can be shy and she is afraid of most things. Talked food time and bathroom habits. Jennifer left and then came back for the appointed time. Emily was very happy to see her. Jennifer provided many pictures of their time together while I was out. My Emily was happy to see me come back but, not about Jennifer leaving. Emily went to hide after she left. She was upset with me that Jennifer had left. She ignored me for the rest of the night. Jennifer had made quite an impression on her. Jennifer is an unbelievable person. Hiring her would be a blessing to you and your pet. I give her 10 out of 10.

About: I love being part of the Rover community and truly enjoy meeting so many wonderful pet parents and their amazing dogs! When your pup stays with me, they’re treated like a member of our family and cared for with lots of love, patience, and attention. I work just one mile from home and am able to come home during my lunch break, so dogs in my care are never left alone for more than three hours at a time on weekdays. Mornings start with a potty break, breakfast, and some attention before I head to work. I return at lunch for another potty break, playtime, and any midday care needed. After work, I’m home for the evening with plenty of time for walks, dinner, and play. Dogs in my care spend a lot of time outside and enjoying our large yard. I love keeping dogs active with plenty of opportunities to run, explore, and burn off energy in a safe space. On weekends, school breaks, and throughout the summer, I am home most or all of the day, allowing for even more frequent potty breaks, outdoor time, and one-on-one attention. This setup works especially well for puppies, high-energy dogs, senior pets, and dogs who thrive with lots of human companionship. I will do whatever you request and/or are comfortable with as the owner, leaving the pet out during the day or crating. Whatever you think is best! I've even had dogs on a scheduled nap time :) open communication here is important! I will ALWAYS send photos. I’m happy to follow whatever routine you feel most comfortable with—whether that means free roaming during the day, crating, or a structured schedule. I’ve even cared for dogs who thrive on scheduled nap times! Clear, open communication is very important to me, and I always make sure to keep owners updated with photos and messages.

About: Hi, I’m Ariel! 🐾 Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From growing up caring for family pets to rescuing dogs in need, I’ve spent decades learning how to understand and care for pups of all ages, personalities, and energy levels. I’m now a proud dog mom to two dogs of my own, both of whom I’ve personally trained from puppyhood. I’ve navigated everything from potty training, crate training, leash manners, and basic obedience to caring for senior dogs who need a little extra patience, comfort, and attention. Whether your dog is a playful puppy, a spirited adult, or a sweet senior, I treat every dog like they’re part of my family. I understand that every pup has unique needs, routines, and quirks, and I take the time to make them feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. Expect plenty of walks, playtime, belly rubs, photo updates, and one on one attention. My goal is simple: for your dog to have such a great time that they’re excited to see me again! 🐶💕 Spending the summer in Sag Harbor, I’m fortunate to have access to beautiful walking routes and dog friendly areas, making every outing an adventure. I know how much trust it takes to leave your furry family member in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility seriously. Reliable, attentive, and genuinely dog-obsessed, I’m here to provide the same level of care I’d want for my own pups. I'm up in Sag Harbor for the summer and currently semi retired from my 14 year career in property management. With two pups of my own I am fully capable of feedings, walks, potty breaks, playtime, cuddles, and some medical. I'm great at understanding the different personalities dogs may have. I will ensure your pups are always safe and well taken care of so you can stay worry free.

FAQs for House Sitting - Water Mill

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Water Mill on Rover is $168.35 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 456 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Water Mill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Water Mill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Water Mill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Water Mill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Water Mill. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
